The fate of "Journey Into Imagination"?

Remember... Imagination needed more track with its old ride system, with todays new system they can cram allot of the original ride onto that track, but the line on the other hand could be a nightmare.
i wouldnt mind a line. actually, seeing a queue would make me happy to see people riding it again. as long as the queue looks like the original with the murals, etc.

After dealing with some hard losses in Disney World it would be nice to see Journey into Imagination get restored to its origional glory. I have a gut feeling that if anything origional is going to come back it would be the origional Journey into Imagination and I have a gut feeling something good is going to happen.

I am hoping that they do something wonderful with that pavilion, that would be enough for future world to start heading in the right direction again, after that update ellen's energy adventure.

This attraction definitely needs an update. I just wish they would change up the smell lab. Can't they have a GOOD smell in there once in a while...and what IS it with Disney and nasty smells? Between the skunk smell in EPCOT's Imagination, the Stink Bug smell in Animal Kingdoms It's Tough To Be a Bug, and The Chili Cheese Dog in Stitches Great Escape in The Magic Kingdom, not to mention all the sweaty, smelly tourists, I need alot more GOOD smells like the Main street Bakery smell. :)
The skunk smell should be replaced with a cinnamon smell then you'll think cinnamon roll (even though the smell came out of his butt) and it would be nice to have a cinnamon roll cart near the exit. Although after leaving SGE, I don't have a hankering for anything chili cheese for the rest of the day.

Or have random scents. It IS a giant slot machine after all.

Like Figment morphing into Orange Bird and blasting us with citrus. ;)

hahhaha love this!!! Bring it!!! :D actually would love to see an orange bird animatronic in the tiki room.

But It does sound like some momentum is building regarding imagination and d23 all of the sudden, would be nice if true. If you read some of the other threads, they say some of the original longer track may be coming back....and Tony Baxter may be involved in terms of consulting..........Im just hoping whatever they do its not a P&F theme, spare me.

I too agree that Figment is way under used,,,they could have a meetngreet, more merch, how about something liek the haunted mansion ending effect with figment riding with you in the vehicle, could be so great. Hopefully big changes are coming.

Hey everyone, my first post here. Quick question. I haven't read anything about a year long rehab for the ride. With a possible impromptu trip planned for the fall, now I am worried I won't be able to ride. Any date scheduled for this possible rehab? Thanks :geek:

I'm really hoping the upcoming reboot goes back to the Figment and Dreamfinder basics. Would be a great way for TDO to buy back some much needed goodwill.
Here's the problem. We as avid fans are not exactly the majority of WDW guests. We remember the original Imagination, but, it has been at least one, if not two, generations since it was in it's glory. Very few of todays guests have ever seen it and just as many have never heard of it.

It would cost Disney millions of dollars to put it back and the only "goodwill" they would get would be that of us. The avid, long time fan. Not that many in the scope of things. Even we have to remember back to what actually happened. Journey had lost it's appeal to many of us. We stopped going there. I'll guarantee you that if the attraction had been as popular as HM or PoC it would still be there and Kodak would never have insisted that it be changed, as per their contract agreement. Journey is a classic example of we didn't realize what we had until it was gone.

If Disney were to spend that much money to redo the attraction, they might just as well dig into their own imaginations and come up with something new that would be equally awesome. Those of us that were lucky enough to have seen it in it's original form are then relegated to our memory. We saw it and you didn't...nanar, nanar, nanar! :p It is my opinion that we are remembering it better then it actually was anyway. The beginning with Dreamfinder and Figment along with that song, "One little Spark", was the highlight in my memory...I think that I found the rest somewhat boring.:bored: Our memories are always better then our realities, thus our Imagination at work.

I just wish that they re-imagine it with something spectacular, not on the cheap, that will serve to restart Epcot to the greatness that it once was. It doesn't have to be the same, just good.

Mark my words. We will NOT get the original back in its original form. It just won't happen. Sure, we got the Tiki Room back but reprogramming bird AA's is different than completely rebuilding a ride essentially from scratch. However, I DO have hope for a return of DreamFinder and something SIMILAR to the original attraction. I want something new but with that hint of nostalgia for the original ride. Something that is a good mix of modern technology and familiar "Disney magic." Let's hope TDO comes through...for once...
To be honest, I wouldn't want the original in it's original form. I would like something more modern and up to date with the same charm. I think the last thing Epcot needs as a theme park about the future is a ride just like it was 30 years ago. Heck, I wouldn't mind something similar to what we have now if they just put more attnetion and detial to it. Make it a little longer, give more time in Figment's world than in Dr. Channing's world, and for the love of god, re-open the upstairs area!

I'm not sure if I'm remembering it correctly but the original Imagination had the scent of roses when Figgy squirted the perfume mister. I love that smell to this day. That and the old Horizons orange scent.

I still think they should gut it and do something new, possibly keeping Figment, but a whole new ride concept is needed to freshen up the pavilion.

I still think a cool idea would be to do a combo dark ride/coaster, similar to what they have at Disney Studios Paris for the Crush's Coaster. Gut the insides, keep the pyramids, reconfigure it, so that the coaster goes through the pyramids (possibly outside of them)

First half of the ride discusses the magic of Imagination, but then Figment decides to imagine the craziest ride ever, and well, there you go. Even bring back The Dreamfinder as a guest of honor of the Institute (or theme it to a Imagination Expo, similar to the stuff Disney did for the 64 World's Fair)

In my opinion this version of Journey into Imagination is just filler. If they are going to revamp this attraction then I hope they will spend a little money on it this time and make it something at least half way worthwhile.

I still think the best idea for JII is to go to the trackless system utilized by Hong Kong Disney's Mystic Manor.

And getting John Rhys-Davies to be the new Dreamfinder. Dat voice. ;)

I came here to ask this. Is there something wrong with the second floor?

From my understanding, the only thing "wrong" with the second floor is the lack of handicapped accessibility, hence they built a truncated Imageworks downstairs at the exit of the ride.
EDIT -- Cynical Answer: Plus the fact that with the current iteration nobody can miss the gift shop. Now get out your wallet$.
