Spam is meat from the hind leg of the pig and pork shoulder goodness. In Hawaii, it is revered in restaurants, convenience stores and grocery stores which I saw on vacation. We've got some in our cabinets which is good fried up with scrambled eggs. Thanks to our US military to introducing and sharing Spam to the world!
Since I've been to Hawaii six times, I was well aware, but it looks like the mystery meat you'd see in the school cafeteria.

Aka: not real meat in my book.

HVAC guys came and gave me a price on several different brands picked one that has a fairly good rating and won't break the bank-- gives a military discount and our energy company has a rebate ---still $6819 (ouch) They'll install Monday supposed to be 70 on Thursday and then the temp drops, picked up 2 small electric heaters and with the fireplace we should be warm. We do have heat up stairs. As SNL Rosannadana would say "It's always something"
Is that just for your heat pump? We were considering one, but being in Michigan it was not really cost efficient as we still would need a seperate furnace and so replaced our AC and furnace with Carrier higher end last month, much more efficient for just a bit more than that. Think most important thing is your installers to be honest and the local place that services.....our units were about 29 and 24 years old.....so I was proactive.....but LOL we had Trane estimate that was almost twice our cost for very similar units....we got company rebate cool cash and utility ones, but signed over to them so it came off the top. Pretty happy so far....we had 3 service calls this year prior and
didn't want unexpected thing during winter/covid/ etc. Hope they do nice job! We sealed off area access to basement with plastic paint sheeting and tape so they could go in and out and not interact with rest of house. They texted me for any questions and they did have to come in to do thermostat but gave me a heads up so we reverted back to bedrooms while they were here, and all wore masks.

Good luck! It's a relief to know it is working and you shouldn't have to worry about THAT at least for many years......:D

I volunteer with our local food bank and United Way and also do substitute driving for our local chapter of Meals on Wheels when a regular volunteer can't make his or her regular route. You would not believe the amount of food insecurity communities are experiencing right now. I grew up in a hungry household.
I assure you there are plenty of people who are very grateful to have some kind of meat product and don't give a crap about your book.
My dad grew up with food insecurity. So did my aunt. Neither one of them has ever had Spam pass their lips nor do they consider it real meat.

I sympathize, but their experience does not invalidate my own opinion.

I did not mean to sound so harsh, just dealing with a lot of need right now from a lot of families and to top it off, donations are down while demand is up significantly.
Spam is one of the most appreciated and most requested items, probably because of its shelf life and because it can be cooked or just eaten right out of the can in a sandwich or just with some crackers.
We have one lady who is too frail to open the can (can't pull the pop top) so she asks for someone to open it for her then it gets wrapped it in saran wrap for her, but she wants to give it a smell first and then she smiles. Breaks my heart that something so simple makes her so happy.

Yes there is a lot of need right now. Thank you for helping with the meals on wheels, that is so important to a lot of folks not just for the food but for a little social contact too even in the best of times. My great-aunt Avis had meals on wheels delivery and when we would visit she would offer us part of her meal, often she would freeze portions of it up. We never took her up on it though.

And I love Spam but eaten right out of the can? I tried that once and I would say there would have to be some sort of extreme emergency to make me do that again. 😀
