We are a relaxed office as well... jeans... tennies... A couple reasons why I don't like working at home... ooo SHINY... my husband is home, and bugs me all day when I am, and... this one is hard to explain...it makes my anxiety level go up. My boss isn't a fan of work at home, and I feel like she constantly monitors us all day to see how much our skype shows "away" (she probably doesn't really, but anxiety makes no sense, and tells you bad information)

I get anxiety working from home too. I feel like everyone will think I'm doing other things if I'm not active on Skype and sending emails all day. I get way less done at home because of it.

Plus I like having a printer and dual monitors and a mouse.

On a snowy morning, I'm still up early, as I love to shovel.

But on an icy morning like this, there's nothing I can do with wet and frozen tundra. :banghead:

We got snow on top of wet roads so it's pretty slick out there! I could have stayed home... I had my laptop at home .... but by the time I cleaned off my car and got on the road to find out they were slick I was already invested... and decided not to turn around. As I reward I stopped to Chick-fil-a on the way in!

What you have is not bad compare to what I'm recovering from. I got hemorrhoids over an hour after eating fast food from Wendy's at home on Saturday. The hemorrhoids are under control with no more blood. I had hemorrhoids once before back in August of 2018.

I can not see a doctor before late January. The only way for me to handle medical problems if they are serious is going to urgent care. I am going by what I told by the doctor's office and the insurance company. The only way I would go to urgent care is if the hemorrhoids were not under control.

The deal is all the doctors in the building I went to retired in early December and my insurance does not cover the new doctor in the building. I had to switch doctors at a different location, but a doctor in a different location was not able to see new patients before late January.

I'm sorry you're going through that. That sounds really frustrating. I hope you get the help you need as soon as possible.

I will also add, though, that you might have the opportunity here to be empathetic to fellow people instead of marginalizing something heavy they're going through. We all have our battles and our struggles. They're all valid. Hers is not "nothing compared to" yours.

Random optional POLL: On New Years Eve, if you are home with whatever family members you live with.....what NYE Broadcast/Network do watch on tv as you await the ball dropping?
Say between 11pm and midnight?
or..........
Do you watch a movie and then switch over at the last minute?
or...........
Do you not care about being awake at midnight and you are in bed with the lights off by then?
Share your annual preference if you wish :)

we usually tune into a celebration from another country, depending on when we're ready for it. The last couple years we've tuned in to Scotland celebrating. That gets us the festive celebration, but also gets us to bed on time. With a small child, that's usually the best path anyway.

How do you celebrate? We normally have sparkling apple cider and we eat 12 grapes, which is a tradition we picked up during a visit to Chile.

I hate to say tis but we rarely stay up to watch the new year come in . I like the idea watch it from another country and I can still get to bed early --never thought of that --great idea maybe I can celebrate with M Ferret

Pro tip.... start with an early enough hour that you have a backup hour. So like, if you normally go to bed at nine, don't just count on the nine pm celebration, try to catch one at 8 pm instead. So if you miss it, you have a backup. Not sure if that matters much with older kids or just adults, but that's been a life saver with my small child.

I find this helpful in finding live feeds....

We watch a movie then go to bed or switch it over—only if they are ‘live’ from WDW showing fireworks!!😊

We get pizza and finger food snacks and gather in front of the tv. I always bounce around with the tv remote. NBC...ABC....Fox....PBS.....There is is often something or some performer that doesn't appeal to me....then I search until I find something or someone that's more to my liking ;)
.......................oh, and thanks @dryerlintfan for mentioning the 12 grapes tradition from Chile. That's both nice and interesting too :)

We will do a combination of all of those. We will watch movies, then the NBC (D.Clark's Rockin' Eve), and if we are still awake watch the ball drop. But if we are super tired we will go to bed, which has happened the last two NYE's. Oh, we also watch the live stream of the Disney fireworks now, which happens at 11pm our time, so we figure if we fall asleep or want to go to bed then we at least celebrated at "midnight".

The N.Y.'s Eve celebration events on TV are all close to the same. We flip around all the channels and don't have a favorite one. After chowing down on Chinese food, I'm not always awake at midnight, so I usually miss the ball in NYC on TV.

There were many years that my wife and I went to bed and yet we hadn't fallen asleep by midnight. We could tell lying there in the dark when it was midnight because some neighbors would blow air horns...or bang kitchen pots and pans

Yet those were the days when we had a young daughter. The last few years our, 15...then 16...then 17...and now 18 year old daughter would never go to bed without seeing the ball drop. That would be unthinkable! 😀
