Random optional POLL: On New Years Eve, if you are home with whatever family members you live with.....what NYE Broadcast/Network do watch on tv as you await the ball dropping?
Say between 11pm and midnight?
or..........
Do you watch a movie and then switch over at the last minute?
or...........
Do you not care about being awake at midnight and you are in bed with the lights off by then?
Share your annual preference if you wish :)
Sometimes I stay up, but not this year. It gets changed to a network at midnight for the years that I stayed up for the ball dropping with a toast of a small glass of wine.

I get anxiety working from home too. I feel like everyone will think I'm doing other things if I'm not active on Skype and sending emails all day. I get way less done at home because of it.

Plus I like having a printer and dual monitors and a mouse.

Due to the dynamic nature of the design work in my career, there is no way I could work nearly as efficiently from home as in the office.
Quick example from today that happens many times a day, especially during the initial preliminary design process...
Partner asked me to do a quick sketch (5-ish mins.) rework of a media room area, involving a bar, wine room, pool/powder bath, and media/storage closet.
During doin’ what he had suggested, I came up with another arrangement, so quickly sketched it up as well. Turns out he liked my idea better, and I made the revisions straight away.
The exchange of ideas and the decisions required could never be made as quickly and as efficiently as they are without face to face contact from my house 15 miles away, no matter how good tech may be these days.
We can just grab a roll of sketch paper and suggest and sketch different ideas back and forth and solve design problems and agree on solutions sooo much quicker in person.

Plus, I as well like my dual monitors at the office...!!! ;):)

we usually tune into a celebration from another country, depending on when we're ready for it. The last couple years we've tuned in to Scotland celebrating. That gets us the festive celebration, but also gets us to bed on time. With a small child, that's usually the best path anyway.

How do you celebrate? We normally have sparkling apple cider and we eat 12 grapes, which is a tradition we picked up during a visit to Chile.

Currently switchin’ back and forth between the UT and Utah ā€œAlamo Bowlā€ football game and Iron Man...!!!!! :hilarious:
Not sure what we’ll been watchin’ to ring in the new year, but, we’re always still up... šŸ¤”
Cool about the grapes...!!! :)
We’ll do our traditional New Years Day black-eyed peas, but, not ā€˜til we’re at my folks tomorrow to celebrate both the new year and pops birthday...!!! :)

Yes... I could see how that would work better in your case. That's another reason I prefer to work at the office... then I can just walk over to someones desk and communicate in person... sometimes it's way more effective than misconstrued emails.
