Well, I had quite the night tonight. I left school and I was driving to my dr appointment for a check up. As I got closer I crossed some railroad tracks, that's when I hear a crack/pop. Oh no! I was about 8 miles from the dr and 8 miles from home. I pulled over as soon as I found a safe spot and yep, my tire blew! Ugh. I called AAA and scheduled a tow then called hubby. He left work (had kids at the afterschool program) and came to drive me back from where my car was going to be towed in case they couldn't fit me in tonight. The two was to arrive at 5pm, I called at 4pm. While we were waiting a few minutes after hubs came a very nice guy came stopped to help and he said he could put my spare on. Great! He started working and hubs told me to cancel the tow truck.

Well, the tire wouldn't come off the car. The guy got extra tools from his truck. It wouldn't budge. He and Brad worked for about 30 minutes in that time I decided to call for a tow again as it wasn't looking promising for the spare to be put on. Anyway, we thanked the guy for trying to help and now the tow was scheduled to arrive at 6pm. Ugh. Hubs was getting antsy to get back to church, Wednesday is busy with afterschool program, confirmation and worship. Luckily some church members drove by and drove him back to church so I could have his car after the tow. Then as I was waiting for the tow a teacher friend of mine I had also called to drive Brad to church. stopped and waited with me so I didn't have to wait alone on the side of the road. So tomorrow, hubs is going to deal with my car and tires. Such a hassle and when I called the dr to tell them I couldn't make it today they were sympathetic about my tire but couldn't reschedule me until November 20th, unless I wanted to take time off of work.

Oh well, at least I'm safe and overall my car is fine too. But in the two hours I sat there only the one guy, besides the church members stopped to see if I needed help. I guess I can't blame people for not stopping to help, but it sure was nice of that guy. I will be saying a couple little prayers to bless him tonight.

Sorry about your tire! It's so hard to change your own these days... they put locking lugnuts on so you can't get them off yourself... and make it nearly impossible to do anything yourself anymore... ugh.

Thanks for the sympathy. The guy got the lugnuts off, but couldn’t get the tire off after that. He said it was the weirdest thing he’d never experienced it. It’s like the tire didn’t want to leave my car. I hope the tire place has better luck tomorrow.

I know Y& b being lower than that before, but that was in 2001. Disney sent out a deal through the mail in 2001 with it costing under $100.00 per person at the time and my parents had to check with the travel agent at the time to make sure that was not fake. That trip happened in August of 2001.

I only stayed to Y & B twice in my lifetime with the first being the WDW trip my mom won. Y & B stay was free due to the nature of the trip my mom won at the time.
thats almost 20 years ago...

Well, that all sounds like a thrill. I hate car stuff. Been in situations a few times waiting for a tow. It was very nice that a random driver pulled in to help out. It's bizarre that the tire would not come off, though. I would have assumed (as Rista 13 13 did), that it would have been tight lug nuts, but apparently not.

Well, at least you got home safely. Hopefully, today will be better for you.

What a rough night. Did something on the tracks cause the tire to blow?
Is it normal for AAA to only tow a car out there? Here they will come and replace the flat on the spot with your spare.
I wonder if people didn’t stop because tgey assume you had a phone and were already able to call for help. Regardless, it was nice of that man to want to try and help. I hope you were able to relax once you got home.

Standard for $150 at Y&B??!!! :jawdrop: I don't think, I've ever heard it being that low. They must be getting desperate.
Didn't they say $150. per person per night. That's a great deal if single, but, it must have a minimum which logically would be two people or $300. per night for the room. More than two and it gets even more ridiculous. I'd need to see the "fine" print to really understand or evaluate.

I think they might have put the spare on but when I called the second time I said the spare couldn’t be used because the tire couldn’t come off. I don’t think the train tracks were the only cause the tire has been was low three weeks ago but not since then. But once I got home I relaxed with a couple pieces of cheesy pizza.

Oh. I thought that was the room rate and not a per person rate.
