I’ve never seen them and really do want to watch the movies to see if I feel they’re appropriate.. I just don’t know when I’d ever have the time when he’s not around. Maybe I’ll camp my ironing board in front the tv after he goes to bed one night.Youngest has seen all the Potter movies. She is reading the third book now. She is actually excited about reading them since she has seen all the films. I would say that T can watch without worry the first 3. Of course you have dementors in the third one, so I guess they can be kind of scary, but it is my family's favorite.
My concern is I broke one of my rules and allowed T to watch the Black Panther. We didn’t see it at the theater even though he begged repeatedly. Almost daily I would hear
“You’re so mean! I’m the ONLY kid in my grade who didn’t get to go see it!!”
So, a few weeks after it came out on video.. and after advice on FB..with moms from his class all saying it was fine... I decided to rent it. We watched together and I immediately regretted it. I did not feel like it was appropriate, but I let the movie play til the end. Needless to say, I did not cave to his request to buy the dvd.
From now on I’ll watch the movie first.
All of this said, my kid is going to be 10 years old in 6 months (I can’t even believe I’m saying that, don’t know how it happened so quickly), at some point he’s going to hear much worse than the language and scenes in Marvel movies., and maybe he’s hearing it now from boys with older siblings, who knows... I’m just trying to hold off as long as I can, but I know it’s coming soon.
