More because my niece, and without my teenage nephew.. I hope this doesn’t sound weird.. but I’m afraid they’ll be so focused on the younger kids that they may not think of his safety, or sunblock, etc etc.
That sounds a lot more harsh than I mean it to sound. I’m glad that his cousins will be there! They’re staying in a beach house with a pool this year.. I think I’m just freaked out by so many recent drownings. I don’t think T would go to the pool or ocean without an adult. I just worry, irrationally I guess.

Needless to say, my mom took great offense when I expressed these worries to her.

Edit- that sounds even more horrible when I see it in black and white written out. I am being ridiculous.

Sympathy like. You're not being ridiculous, your being a mom. It's so hard to watch your heart and soul go off with other people and trust that they'll take care of them.

As far as the heat in Wisconsin, what Bay Beach Amusement park is doing sums things up.

Bay Beach is rotating their staff to give operators extra time inside due to high heat index. 3 of Bay Beach's rides are closed today because they do not run very well in high humid temperatures. Beach Beach even cancelled a free event called "movies at the beach" with the them needing to reschedule due to high heat index. The movie that was supposed to shown tonight is the live action Dumbo movie.

Bay Beach Amusement Park is in Green Bay with it being located by the Bay. According Weather.com, Green Bay is in the 90s, but feels over 100 degrees outside.

I do know where I live is in the 90s, but it feels like its over 105 degrees outside:(. At least I'm in central air and will be eating a skinny cow drumstick tonight for snack:hungry:.

Well we went from 91 to now 72 degrees. That drop created some huge storms, it was really bad about 30 minutes north of us where my sister and her family live. Weather guy said it was 80 Mille an hour winds, lots of trees down, builds damaged, power lines down and such. Luckily my sis didn’t have any major damage but some of her neighbors did. There are reports of some possible tornadoes. More storms are possible tonight. That quick drop in temperatures can be so dangerous. 😕

Gotta say, I'm jealous of you and @Goofyernmost and @Rista1313 because you all had experience with CB radios. I've never used those (they're not exactly standard equipment in little fart cars I've had, like the '97 Ford Escort and the '07Chevy Aveo  ), but those CBs sure sound like so much fun!!

Hahaaaa...!!!
They were never standard equipment, unless maybe some dealer incentive BS, but, they were RadioShack-ish fun you chose to install yourself. But, it was all a total hoot...!!!!!!! :joyfull:

In the early 80s I briefly had encounters with CBs. They were fun and so days gone by for me.

We have 3 on duty so they can rotate into the A/C and all the soda they can drink for free. As for watching kids they make mine watch kids, free birth control:angelic:
We are in the 100 range. $80
Dollars worth of Gatorade purchased for today free to lifeguards Free water bottles also Same tomorrow. She has 40 lifeguards per shift and 2 shifts per day. They rotate every 20 minutes to different stands and are required to jump into water at rotations to cool body core and every single hour a 20 minute break in AC. In these temps
It is high risk for heat stroke
For lifeguards

Given our temp range this year with the flexibility of 140 degrees by season, one way or the other we who reside in the midwest are not acclimated to the extreme one way or the other. While some native to places like Texas maybe OK cause they don't do extremes of way over 100 degrees in either direction, their bodies have the ability to acclimated to their climate as it is more consistent. If they experienced the summers of Saudi of extreme 138, the story would likely be different but it doesn't. Kinda like Polar Bears don't live in the Caribbean. Sharks don't live in the Great Lakes.

We have one more day of ridiculous temps for tomorrow. My sons birthday. It was nasty warm that many years ago when he was born. He was a huge baby born to me a tiny woman then. I lost 40 pounds in less than 24 hours. Planning a baby? Go for something other than July if possible.
