I was thinking about doing a Disneyland trip for A when she turns 5 but haven't made up my mind if I want to learn a whole new park, LOL. Disney World seems impractical and too expensive but man would she love to be in the castle for her birthday.
DLR is a different animal than WDW...not in a good or bad way, per se, just different.
DLR is pretty much walkable all the way around. No need for busses, etc., to get around, and the monorail is more of an attraction than actual major transportation as at WDW (like the various railroads).
Haven’t been to DLR since the summer of ‘10,
but, the first time we visited was in ‘68 when I was 6. I vividly remember PotC, Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland, and Adventure Thru Inner Space, among other attractions.
We also visited in ‘70 (Haunted Mansion is a vivid memory from that trip) and ‘72, before moving back to Texas in ‘76.
We were also at DL in the summer of ‘87, not too long after the original Star Tours opened, and then the ‘10 trip, by which time the old main parking lot had then been turned into DCA.
I first went to WDW (DWifey had been once before we met) on our honeymoon in Dec. of ‘88. We have been back only 7 times since our first family trip in ‘01. I highly recommend to anyone who has not visited both USA Disney resorts to do so. Both Disney fun, but, decidedly different...!!!!!
