Sympathy like. I'm going to a farm market and a blueberry kale smoothie is on my to have listAnyone have any plans for the 4th? Hate that it falls on a freaking Wednesday this year. Can't even stretch the holiday into a long weekend. I'm working all week (except for the 4th). I usually watch the concert from Wash. DC in the evening. I like that show, and it's nice to see all the military people represented in the audience.
The only other thing I'm doing on the 4th is baking a blueberry loaf cake--blueberries are traditional with me for the 4th. My mother used to bake a blueberry cake every 4th, so that's who I got started doing that. Hubs is running a road race in the morning--he does this every 4th. So he can run miles in the heat, and I'll stay home in a/c, and stuff my face with delicious blueberry cake!
They did last year.
I cook separately for the boys once in a while. I have one carnivore and one who will eat anything.Me too...!!!
All that, and, yes, if you didn't eat what mom put on the table, you didn't eat...there were no "custom" meals at our house...but, it wasn't a problem, as myself and my 2 younger bros dogged everything down anyway...!!!
Excellent! Our town fireworks are July 4th, but we can see them from our backyard since we are on the top of a hill. The real estate listing for our house when we bought it even mentioned that you could watch the fireworks from the deck.
Hoping the timing is well aligned so I can see both without hopping in and out of the house. 
You are probably correct. That is just a sad commentary of our times.

My oldest likes ABBA. She was singing Mamma Mia in the car yesterday. I prefer Waterloo myself. DH and I heard it on our first Disney trip together in ‘96. They were playing it in Pleasure Island.

Wish we had a huge screen outside, then it could be like we were there.If you had a tablet, you could stream the fireworks and then watch it outdoors, along with your local fireworks.
Well dh is working, so no. I hope we can do something really cool next year.
