My daughter is not quite old enough to leave in the room but I can definitely read some text books on the balcony while she sleeps in. And during nap time. I've read that SOG WiFi is a bit weak, so hopefully that won't become an issue.

I'd love to study by the pool though. I used to do that during my bachelor's classes.

Hahaha! Ooops. I certainly wasn't advocating leaving a 3 year old alone in a hotel room. I mistakenly though her Daddy was going to go on the trip too. ooopsy.

Look into the hot spot on your phone for back up if wifi fails.

Oh yummy!!!

We had Paczki's today, still have a few to go. Lets see, we picked key lime, strawberry, peach and cheese. Our bakery uses real fruit not jellies and the pastry just melts in your mouth.

We don’t have a real old fashioned bakery where I live. The supermarket is where you get baked goods. Saw Paczki’s there last year and got them for the kids. Those look amazing as do @wdwfan4ver . :hungry:

I don't think we're going to get to drag him back until she's old enough for universal too. Mommy daughter trips until then ❤❤

Today is big day for bakeries where I live. The local media for years has covering bakeries on Paczki day. I know about Paczki day to me being Polish. It is a big polish tradition. When I was growing up, my parents made up Paczki's the night before. My parent made them up the night before so we could have them for breakfast. They also were part of my bag lunch for school when I was growing up. My parents made them up in different flavors.

Here is an example of what Paczki looks like:

paczki-00.jpg

Yum. I'm Irish and so love Fat Tuesday's Paczki Day. The bakery today didn't have bread or rolls, no cookies. Thousands and thousands of Paczki's They also do a pre-order and have boxes of 12 packed and ready for you. We just stand in the long line and breathe that heavenly smell in the air. These are some of the best Paczki that I've had in life, superior to the Polish Deli a few towns over. It kinda reinforces my opinion that cooking and baking do not necessarily go hand in hand. My DD bakes well. I cook well. Neither of us do both well.

Do you have chocolate? (I always stock chocolate--nothing much else, because why bother?) :D

I have chocolate bars of all sorts, chocolate syrup, chocolate fudge and today even of had a chocolate paczki's.

It is weird though how the true 'staples' are missing from the shelves. And can someone with more power than me please get these Yahoo's to stop freezing the fresh produce. What the heck #@%&*

You can only be sick 2 days per year? How does anyone ever have any days to roll over???

Hahaaa...!
Sorry, I wasn't clear. They are actually officially called "Personal Days", they used to call them sick days. Those cannot be rolled over...use 'em or lose 'em.
But, we can roll over all the vacation days we want, which can, with written permission, be used in a pinch for a personal day(s).
One of my coworkers currently has about 3.5 months of paid vacation banked, and it can't be taken away.

Just reading your response above to RedNoseMickey. I gotta say that the Harrier jump jets are one of the most exciting marvels of aviation. (Many years ago, I saw one up close while on a public tour of a British naval ship that had come into Boston harbor. Only wished I could have seen it take off or land. It also had a camera built into it, that you wouldn't have seen unless up close to it.) I asked one of the sailors what the camera was for, and he winked at me, and said I wasn't supposed to see that . . . :p )

Hahaaa...!
Exciting marvel, indeed!!!!!
Yep, among other things, they make one heckuva' good reconnaissance platform...!!! :cautious: 😉

That bad? What do they do that's so annoying? So I don't do that to my kids when they are older and DD might actually be willing to do mother /daughter trips with me....

It has been over a year since I've flown with my Mom. Now mind you I'm in my AARP years. We were heading home from Cleveland and our SW flight was very late due to a heavy rainstorm at the airport. Just kept getting delayed. I went to the restroom and went into a store, coming back about two gates away my Mom is screaming at me, Gabe we are going to miss this plane where did you go (I told her and she was watching my carry on) you left me with all the luggage and they are boarding the plane (the door is still closed) there she is in line with people that were not in our group and randomly picks a place to stand (a no no with SW airlines)
I'm trying to get basic info out of her as to what the gate agent said (told if I was where I was supposed to be I'd know, still yelling, aka she doesn't remember) then continues to berate me for almost making her miss her flight. (jetway door still closed) I turn the woman besides me who took pitty on me and ask what the update was. They would begin boarding in approximately 20 minutes and the flight should leave 20-30 minutes after boarding STARTED.

My Mom is the same way when we do a 3 hour road trip or so. One day I missed an interstate flyover. By the time I saw the sign with all the semi's around it was too late to get over. Melt Down Mother. Oh my God Oh my God Now what are we going to do we are lost and you don't know what your doing or where you are going. Me calmly. See I missed that exit, so I am going up to the next one turning around and going to get off at the exit I need to be on....Well you missed it already once doesn't mean your not going to miss it again....

Yeah....parents....I'm happy it is my sisters turn to take her to Key West next month. That should be fun. Mom flying herself to Cleveland (I ordered her a wheelchair to take her to the gate so she doesn't melt down) then Cleveland to Miami and Miami to the Keys. If I went too I'd likely have to jump out the emergency exit door. Like @StarWarsGirl Dad my Mom has always been a nervous traveler. Borders always on panic attacks on all the things that could go wrong but doesn't is her thing. And oddly when I fly with my Mom our seats are NEVER split up.

Someday my kids will likely be telling these stories about me.....

All the kids are really excited about swimming! And the cake is easy too. I bought a cake topper thing from Etsy, and just sticking it onto a Costco cake (already ordered) and putting edible sunflowers around the sides. Frozen Fever style.

The indoor pool has a zero entry, a lazy river, and a huge water play structure. My daughter is going to go nuts over it! It's very similar to the aquatic center we go to in the summers, but that is outdoors.

Sounds like so much fun! Are the parents staying with their little munchkins?

Looks like my old hamster Ian. What a perfect little guy he was. Never bit anyone. Funny story about him. He escaped from his cage one night, the clever thing, and I did not know because it was in the evening when I was asleep. He was gone for 2 days, when my stepdad said he heard scratching behind the wall where his desk was in the basement. We had double walls because the basement was finished. We opened this closet like door which hid the electrical panel and looked down into the space and there he was. No how to get him out? Luckily I had spoiled him with Chips Ahoy. We fashioned a basket with a small box and tied string to it. Then I put a chocolate chip cookie in the box. We lowered the box. He smelled the cookie and jumped in the box. As he was nibbling we rose it up and I grabbed him. I was so happy. He was a very cuddly tiny thing. :inlove:

Hahaaa...!!! :hilarious:
Pretty much the same thing happened at our house when I was a kiddo. My middle brother had a few at one point. Charlie was the standout...feisty little thang! He disappeared for about 4 days one time. I was in the bonus room powder bath and heard noise in the wall. Somehow he had gotten into the base cabinet and chewed a hole through it...!!! :hilarious:
I forget how they got him out, as I wasn't involved in the operation 😉, but, he was fine and was around at least a few more years.
Proper Precautions were implemented, and it never happened again. Poor Adventurer Chuck...!!! :hilarious:

No
I would love to do POP but it's on our definite NO list. My daughter would kill me if we could see the Nemo pool and the Little Mermaid area and yet she wasn't allowed to swim in either of those pools. I thought about staying at POP and just using their pools, but after a cursory google search, that's not an option.
The problem is that AOA doesn't typically run the discounts. Usually you'll see a room only discount and the other values are on it, but not AOA. I wanted to stay there in 2014 but couldn't because of the lack of discounts.

The funny thing is that my grandma is easy to travel with. She just kind of trusts me to handle everything and gets wheeled along. She's my dad's mother and doesn't understand what he's so anxious about either.:hilarious: It's probably a good think I do the travelling with her. The last time the only issue was she packed liquids in a carry on by mistake, and while the lovely BWI TSA agents were able to save some of it, labeling it as medication, they did throw away some hairspray. She said it was cheap, but I could see the whole thing had thrown her a bit. We were eating dinner and she felt like she couldn't find things all of the sudden. She was wondering where her wallet was. I took her purse from her and pulled it out. Then she said she just felt like a mess and used to be so capable and now wasn't. I just reassured her that she had spent her whole life taking care of others and it was now okay to let someone else take care of her. After that, she was okay and went back to letting me handle everything.

Of course, then she told my dad that I tailgated. Which he told my mother, to which my mother said, "Uh, no, she doesn't." I told them it was idiotic drivers in South Carolina stopping short, not using a turn signal, and me having to slam on the brakes because they were idiots. People up here in Baltimore know how to drive; they're just super aggressive. People in SC, I found out, just don't have a clue how to drive. Also, I don't drive like an old lady, which may have had something to do with her opinion...
