Around the corner from my DD apartment is a 2 million dollar home. It took the dude 5 years to build cause dude was a Pain in the *** and every general contractor quit and ultimately the subcontractors wouldn't work on the home either. AnyWho they moved in around this time last year. They put up a stunning Story and Half tree in the center of the bay window. Mind you still today on the first floor the only furniture they have is a dining room table and patio furniture. There are not window treatments yet on any windows any floor so...no need to take the Christmas Tree down right??? Not getting in the way??? We came home from Disney in midish September....the Christmas Tree was down. :cyclops: Why bother now? Wonder if they will put it up again.

They can get away with a fully lit tree through September because it is inside the home. We now have ordinances in our little hamlet that any holiday lights or decorations can be up no longer than 6 weeks. Amen. We all did get a waiver a few years back when we had a blizzard and then a month when the temps didn't go above freezing. The first fine for week one is $100. Week #2 is $500, week #3 $1000....it has defined the zoning laws to true seasons.
We have the same rules for decorations. We both one of those things that lite up the whole house. Put it out, put on the timer and finished.

Hey guys. Been working lately on a zombie Venture Scout marionette. His name is Burger. He's about a foot tall and his skin is latex and paper towels and the vest he's wearing is scraps from an old Venture uniform. Here's a pic:

He still needs a pan on his head and some pants!

Sounds like some good locations. I'm sure you will all have fun.

I see from your posted response to me that you will have verandas, I'm sure you will like that. I didn't mind the inside cabin we had the first cruise but having the veranda was nice on the next ones. I really loved sitting out there in the morning in my pj's watching the ocean with my morning coffee. It was really relaxing.
I love the balcony rooms, the mornings are wonderful. We get out of our cabin early, and come back mid morning...the room is cleaned and sitting on the balcony is so nice!

I'd be surprise if the tourist areas will be what they were by January. Our Illinois Rep. Luis V. Gutiérrez has been to Puerto Rico 3 times now after the hurricane. He is there now on his 3rd visit. He is bringing back real statistics from his boots on the ground visiting many areas including San Juan. We have a news anchor here too that was born there and went. She couldn't get through her 'live' without loosing it. I can't imagine at the pace we are progressing that by January there will be too much that 'open' to tourists. All so sad.
That sounds so awful. I'm hoping that there are things to pick up while we are there. It helps with their economy. When we went to Haiti, we bought everything they had to offer. It was right after their earthquake. It's the least we can do. I found a really pretty box, handmade, and a candle holder and other things. I change my decorating, so after I wanted to change, I donated the pretty things, so someone else could enjoy it too.

Yeah my family knew and knows better. And I bet even my DS knows better than to be stupid the future. He finds safety in Jewelry. Rarely does one get knocked upside the head with jewelry. Other things can be dangerous.

I do not watch the news nearly as much as I had my entire adult life. I am a news junkie, I had liked knowing what is happening. Now I sleep better without being annoyed with all the blah blah blah in recent months and I certainly don't need anything else adding more nights with insomnia. So the news junkie is on hiatus.
Me too. My blood pressure is going down without news. No news, is good news!

Yes! They tell me what I'm doing, and I just follow instructions;)...and, I'm OK with all that...my DWifey and kiddos have always appreciated me and I appreciate them more than they will ever know.
I love them sooo very much... They ARE MY LIFE...!!!!!!!
I feel the same way about my family. We are starting to mend, son in law is talking to daughter, and she is talking to him, we are all going out for dinner on Saturday night, son-in-law sister is coming to Denver. We are driving in to spend time with her and the family. So nice to see things coming together. Hubby and I am working toward our future....we are moving within two years to a place in the South. Hubby is as tired of winter as I am. We are needing a change. Colorado is beautiful in the summer winter....not so much. I will hope to be saying good by to snow in about two years! Hubby has finally come to his senses. I'm starting to need a cane to walk. So that doesn't work in the snow. Yea!

Good Will is big in this area. They have built their own buildings and are clean and orderly. Drop off is now drive up and they come to you with a bin. We have been there multiple times the last few weeks.
Us too. We don't have the bin, yet but by the time it comes around we are giving almost everything away. Getting ready to move and downsize to little. We will be donating all furniture to Salvation Army and driving away with the clothes on our backs. I hope we go where we won't need boots, heavy coats and so on. Enough cold and snow for me!

He LOVES his new school. 3 days in and he is a completely different kid. It's AMAZING. Best decision we ever made...really a fantastic school. They send a report home every week. Not based on the work, but on behavior...was he on task, was his work neat, did he participate, etc. Every week they get a goal to work towards, and they get feedback on that goal. His goal for the week was "Learn the rules of the class/school." But it's great to have the feedback. And then we have a meeting with the teacher next week to talk about how the first week went and where we go from here. Really awesome.
I'm so happy for your son and you. It's wonderful to find a place that accepts him, no questions asked. Too bad the other school let you down, I'm glad that is all behind you. I will be praying for you and the family. This makes my heart feel really good! xoxo
