Hrmmm...your son-in-law seems to get along better with you than with your DD. Could you maybe call him and just tell him you'd like to plan your holiday and would like to confirm his plans with the boys so you can make yours? Diplomatically inquire for yourself? Then he knows you aren't just making plans without considering his plans...that you are taking him into account and willing to work around his plans.
That's a great idea! I think daughter has read my posts or son in law, everyone is co operating right now. I'm glad that things are working out on both sides. We love both of our "kids", son-in -law and daughter, and our grand kids....we just want peace and happiness for everyone. I hope daughter finds a mate to fit her, and son-in-law a person to fit him too. We learned a lot from our doggies....they teach you unconditional love. It was a wonderful lesson for us. I'm sure many pets teach those who are willing to learn, dogs, cats, @Mr Ferret88, etc.

DD had a few groaners to add here:

A termite walks into the bar and asks "Is the bar tender here?"

I asked a Frenchman if he played video games. He said Wii.
What do you call a camel with no humps?
Humpfree.

What did one plate say to the other?
Dinner's on me.

What do sea monsters eat?
Fish and ships

What do you call a sleeping dinosaur?
A dinosnore

Playing Ketchup. Yesterday was a big huge craft fair and I took DD to it. We had a great time and I needed it. Friday was a sucky day. I pulled a stupid...DS's new school is awesome, but they have a different schedule that I'm not used to yet. Wednesdays and Fridays are half days, and for some reason I had 12 in my head instead of 12:30. So I left my house at 11:20 so I would get there about 10 minutes to 12. I get halfway there and I realize my mistake and normally I bring a book with me so I have something to do while I wait, but since I thought I was only going to be there 10 minutes early, I didn't bother. So I'm right by the city center, berating myself for the mistake and thinking where I should go for that half hour, and a woman on a bike turned right in front of a car...I didn't see her at all until she flew over the hood of the car. I actually thought it was a kid because I thought what I saw flying over the car was a backpack...but it was the woman. I called an ambulance and I wasn't the only one, or even the first, but someone was doing CPR and someone else jumped into the street to direct traffic...there must have been about 20 other people who saw it. And then the ambulance came...well, actually 3 or 4 showed up, and they called for an airlift. They ended up canceling the airlift...it was too late. My husband had to come home from work to pick DS up from school. I was SOOOOO glad it wasn't on the way BACK, that HE didn't witness that. When I got home, I was still so shaky I ended up pouring myself a large shot. I hardly ever drink, but that called for some booze. The policeman I gave my statement to was really nice, though. He asked me how I was handling it and told me to ask my doctor for help if I needed someone to talk to. Really nice guy. So that was my Friday. Well, and I worked, but at least that was a good distraction.
Loved your jokes. So sorry Friday was so horrible. Take care of yourself and talk and talk and talk to someone with compassion. That is a tragic and disturbing situation. I hope you are getting over this. When my dad passed, we were at his bedside and it wasn't easy to watch. An accident is so much more to deal with, it is so unexpected. Take care...and prayers coming your way.

CIA fires Officer LuLu the bomb sniffing dog in training 'cause she just wants to play. She now lives with her handler and his previously retired dog.

NICE on the Harvester! My first car was a '74 Lincoln Continental...thing was a TANK and I could sleep stretched out on the front seat without touching either door, lol.

I picked up on driving a stick really fast...hubby says I quickly got better at it than he ever was. When I was learning, we were on a super steep, short little hill with a stop-sign at the top and I had to make a left-hand turn into traffic - I WAS FREAKING OUT. Hubby stood up and through the open t-roof shouted to the people behind us (there was really only room for 4 cars on the hill) that I was a newbie, they backed up, and I actually made it without rolling backwards more than maybe 6 inches or so. They all honked and applauded, lol...good times!!!

I ditched the stick when we had kids and I didn't want to be dealing with it while trying to calm a cranky toddler. We've only got a few more years of boosters to go, and then I'll likely go back to a stick. (They're growing up way too fast!)

EDIT: My Lincoln was the "ultimate" pos...chrome foot gas pedal, kill switches galore (one to start, one to keep it running, one for electrical), and the exhaust was in the trunk!

Hahaaa...!
The Lincoln would have indeed been a tank!
I believe they pretty much all came equipped with 460c.i. big blocks back then...!!!
What did that ship get mileage-wise, about 3 gallons per mile...?! o_O :D ;)

And yes, hills are tricky at first, but, once you get it, no biggy. :)
Sometimes if someone was really close, and I was feelin' lazy, I would just use the parking brake technique...I would just hold it 'til things caught and I wouldn't even roll back at all before I took off. :)

And, yes indeed, our kiddos grew up way too fast. Our 3 are already well into their 20's.
The cool thing is we're all still very close and still do a lot of fun stuff together.
My advice to all parents with young children...
Don't blink...! ;)

@ajrwdwgirl , when do you fly down to WDW? Is it tomorrow? If so, safe travels and very happy for you! I like your pictures, so please take some!

I fly out on Saturday morning. I am staying over in Minneapolis tomorrow night so I don't have to get up at 3am to get to the airport and hubs can't drive me. I am finally all caught up on work and I'm getting pretty excited! I do plan on taking lots of pictures, so don't worry! Thanks for the safe travels wishes.

So, I had this for dinner on Tuesday night when I was in DC. Can anyone identify what I ate? ;)

Well I thought it was either cauliflower or brain. :eek:Glad it was cauliflower! :)Sorry it did not taste good. I think @figmentfan423 has a good recipe for cauliflower steak.
Two years! Hubby is looking at condo's with everything provided....no more yard work, gutter work, keeping up the painting ( over 27 foot high) me....on a ladder....no more. And so many other things....hubby is keeping up with the driveway, and gutters. But he hates being on a ladder .....so he is ready to move.....about time....we were supposed to live the last few years of my pick....I went where ever his job took us. Now, I'm picking somewhere warm (Florida....here we come). No property taxes. So hubby is in!
Hooray for you!!! :) Sounds like “Happy Days are here again”. Humming tune. :)

That makes perfect sense - so you don't de-stabilize the trees. My mother worked at a nursery for years, so this info would fascinate her, lol. There are also these two rules of thumb...the roots are equal to what you see above ground in the way of foliage and branches, and you can cut as much as 1/3 off of a shrub or tree for a healthy pruning.

Cool about your mom! :)
I've heard those rules from an arborist, as well.
Here, at least in most areas of Austin proper, you must have special permission to remove any tree with a trunk diameter of 19" or more, and removal of "heritage trees" (trunk diameters of 24" or more) is prohibited, unless it is a safety issue or prevents "reasonable land use". Those are very rarely granted. Also, in many circumstances, they require an "adequate replacement tree" to be planted somewhere on the property if an existing tree is allowed to be removed.
From 2014-2016, Austin preserved 43,000 trees, approved the removal of 23,000, and required the planting of 24,000 replacement trees.

Love it!!! And a nice big bathroom too!!! We have a Gambrel Cape with 2 baths, but they're both basically glorified closets with plumbing.

EDIT: And don't get me started on room dimensions...our Master Bedroom and Living room are both 12' x 20' and basically impossible to decorate well.

Thanks! :)
Yes, large master baths/spas are a big thing around these parts. ;)
Also, things like seperate steam saunas, outdoor showers, etc.

Yes, those are some long, narrow rooms. Never had to decorate one with those dimensions before.
