Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Hahaaa...!!!!! :hilarious: ;) :)
Speaking of vacations, we cancelled our Key West trip for this coming December. We actually cancelled it way before we even knew a certain storm would tear up the whole place, 'cause a 7-day Carnival cruise was actually much less expensive. Plus, DWifey and I have never been on a cruise before...!!! ;)
Heck, the last time we were on a vacation that lasted a week was back in June of '13 for our family WDW trip. The only other ones we took were to Port Aransas for a coupla' days, and the Princess 5K back in Feb. of last year.
Not complaining, but, that was one whirlwind trip...we flew in on a Wednesday night, did the 5K between a coupla' Park days, and flew out on Saturday afternoon. I'm pretty sure that doesn't koala-fy :hilarious: as a real vacation...?!
Maybe, just a break...?! o_O

;)

My Sis bought into a building there earlier this year in the Keys. They visited multiple times a year. They did get hit with a special assessment. But the buildings did come back online. They had more issues with cell towers than anything. It was rough getting construction workers to the Keys as plenty of work was available on the Main Land Florida on the Gulf side without needing to take jobs in the Keys.

In so much better shape according to Sis than San Juan.

How was school for him today?
I hope it was another GREAT day...!!! :)
He LOVES his new school. 3 days in and he is a completely different kid. It's AMAZING. Best decision we ever made...really a fantastic school. They send a report home every week. Not based on the work, but on behavior...was he on task, was his work neat, did he participate, etc. Every week they get a goal to work towards, and they get feedback on that goal. His goal for the week was "Learn the rules of the class/school." But it's great to have the feedback. And then we have a meeting with the teacher next week to talk about how the first week went and where we go from here. Really awesome.

Yeah my family knew and knows better. And I bet even my DS knows better than to be stupid the future. He finds safety in Jewelry. Rarely does one get knocked upside the head with jewelry. Other things can be dangerous.

I'm pretty sure my dh was looking for an excuse to get me the thingymabob for my big gift as a text that came shortly after had the pic of said thingy I really want but don't want to spend the money on. My ds on the other hand is going through an oblivious stage.:cautious: Yup frying pan time My older ds sometimes has no clue about money saw a pic of hidden Mickey earrings and asked my dh to get them $5000 sweet but no way!

OK. How do you prepare your acorn squash?
I line baking sheets with parchment, split them, rub with evoo, and stuff with a mixture of cranberries, stevia(half will get brown sugar if I make them for a holiday), walnuts and raisins, sometimes chopped apples if I have a bunch. They also bake and mash up quite nice. Once in a while I'll peel, cube them and roast alone or with other veggies. They can be baked and turned into pie. Pretty much pumpkin, butternut and acorn squash can be swapped out for each other in recipes.

Our Big tree and outside decorations would go up the day after ThanksGiving. It was a 4 day weekend for all of us and gave us time...

Since my DD went off to college (wow 7 years ago) I've put it up later and later. Now that I have this cute small tree I don't mind it being up in December. Our decorations would come down New Years Day. As the years went on they came down as early as December 26th when the Big Tree still went up.
We're still at the Friday, Saturday, Sunday after Thanksgiving stage depending who who still has shopping left. The boys like black Friday:confused:

We have swans here. Actually they were just plucked from their pond this week and won't be back until April. This video makes my heart warm.

I love you too! But man I am thirsty. Pardon me from this reunion while I have a drink please.
I wish we had swans but my lake my be a bit redneck for them:( We have ducks, geese, heron and a pair of nesting bald eagles which means we also have assorted fish and game people

Around the corner from my DD apartment is a 2 million dollar home. It took the dude 5 years to build cause dude was a Pain in the *** and every general contractor quit and ultimately the subcontractors wouldn't work on the home either. AnyWho they moved in around this time last year. They put up a stunning Story and Half tree in the center of the bay window. Mind you still today on the first floor the only furniture they have is a dining room table and patio furniture. There are not window treatments yet on any windows any floor so...no need to take the Christmas Tree down right??? Not getting in the way??? We came home from Disney in midish September....the Christmas Tree was down. :cyclops: Why bother now? Wonder if they will put it up again.

They can get away with a fully lit tree through September because it is inside the home. We now have ordinances in our little hamlet that any holiday lights or decorations can be up no longer than 6 weeks. Amen. We all did get a waiver a few years back when we had a blizzard and then a month when the temps didn't go above freezing. The first fine for week one is $100. Week #2 is $500, week #3 $1000....it has defined the zoning laws to true seasons.

Yikes. I don't care if people want to put up lights and keep them up for a long time. I might think it looks odd after the holidays, but I can't say it "bothers" me. There are no such ordinances out here where I live, and I don't even live in New Hampshire--whose motto is, "Live Free or Die"

I remember that. It was ugly. Why I try to stay out of News and Rumors. I dipped into the dogs at Disney thread. Ouch. Lots of hate out there. When we were at the Wilderness for Irma the Dogs were welcomed from the area with their owners for this Hurricane. They brought lots of comfort to those who were nervous about the hurricane. Guests were respectful with their pets. If asked to approach they said yes but never did they wander the resort like it was implied in that thread. Only service dogs went into restaurants and wasn't an issue. I was so surprised by the melt down after actually being there for the days leading up to the hurricane as the Pups and owners arrive and through the hurricane and many days after cause they couldn't return south yet.
Why I don't dabble elsewhere often. I do and usually regret it. Some just scan for trouble and dive on in.

Some of us are more like family than just friends. And like family we don't always agree but most of us like you said are kind.
on that note I'm glad Disney is finally going to allow pups but I wish they had put aside dedicated rooms for them
