Good morning. I now remember why I try and get most of my holiday shopping done by Halloween, the stores were busy yesterday and it's only going to get worse:mad: At least I'm mostly done, the only things I'll have to get last minute is clothing for my younger ds:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull:. I even got take away containers for Thanksgiving and cookies for Christmas. We even picked up the gf flour for baking.

Help us settle a debate. Our fake tree we put in the living room has seen better days and may get replaced this year. Should we get a slightly smaller tree, go all out and cram in another large for the room one, get the palm tree and have the room look uncluttered(that's what I'm selling my dh on:oops:), or just pick up a stand and get a real one?

I suppose all are reasonable options and we don't know what the inside of your house looks like. As for moi, I always get a real one--maybe 7 feet high, so not huge, but still full size. Even that is probably too big for our tiny livingroom, but I like it for what it is. When I was growing up, we had an artificial tree since I was probably 9. Got to hate the stupid thing year after year, and when I moved out as a young adult, I've only bought real trees.

I think I spent about $18 on Halloween candy for trick or treaters. That's all.

So I have to question: what is the "average American" according their survey people?
I spent $19 between candy and bags. We never get many trick or treaters in my small development. I will probably have a lot of leftover bags that I will give to dd6’s cheer team.
View attachment 240464For some reason my dh doesn't like this:confused:
What? Well my dh would consider that tree the ultimate Christmas tree! ;):inlove:

We have had the same tree since 2004. Bought it at Fortunoff. @figmentfan423 is probably the only one who knows what that is. It is beautiful for a fake and the lights still work. That one sits in the dining room because I hate clutter also and it would take over the family room. We did buy a small 4 footer for it last year. It is cute. Has small clumps of fake snow(the best kind of snow), and little red berries.

I might have mentioned before.. my youngest was always upset by the fact that early in their childhood we had real trees. When we switched over to artificial when they were in their teens she didn't like them. We would go places that had real evergreens and sniff the air and tell me that was what was missing, the smell of a real tree. I knew what she was talking about, when I was a kid that was pretty much all that was available were real (Charlie Brown type) trees.

Anyway, now that she is grown up and completely able to have whatever type of tree she wants, any guesses about what type she now has year after year? I do take a certain amount of pleasure out of calling her a hypocrite at least once a year. That is one of the only rewards of parenting... reverse guilt.

Of course I know Fortunoff it was the best wedding shower and house warming store, so sad it's no longer around. I may have to trek down to one of their few remaining back yard stores. and yes fake snow is the only acceptable snow. My dh didn't like the one with fake snow I liked either, he may go in a cage with @Mr Ferret 88 :D

I say new fake tree in the living room. I'm never comfortable with real trees, there could be a fire or maybe there is something living in there. Both are probably unlikely fears though. And you should still get the palm tree and put it in your bedroom and enjoy the tropics there.
