That's so pretty. Sister called the Grand Canyon, just a big hole in the ground. I guess she didn't like the West much either. I knew she was nutso!:cautious::cautious::cautious:

I'm not much of a sight seeing type gal. I'm a once and out type of person with that, seen the Falls, Canyon, the Dam etc. once. The only use I find for a mountain is to ski down it, then it has a purpose. All the monuments twice in WDC which was one too many for me. Now I could spend 2 weeks wandering through the Smithsonian's. Find those to be endlessly interesting. :geek:

Still if I am going to look at rock and mountains I just prefer to go to Disney, they have mastered Rock and Mountains. Now floating rock. (full disclosure, the floating rock formation was pretty by day and by night, I just don't see what others see. My imagination isn't good enough to imagine those rocks are floating. I tried, just really don't see the floating.o_O)

You are killing me. I expect to be paying a fortune around here.

When you are forced into buying mens suits (ugh) try both Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom Rack on Golf across from Woodfield. When they are having sales you get top quality at a JC Penny price. Also I've bought multiple suits at Brooks Brothers during the sales on the Streets of Woodfield by Legoland. Many have that buy one get one % off the sale price. Father Son sent off together.

I would love for the states of finally join the world of fast trains. In the Northeast, we have Acela but I think they only go 90mph due to the curvy tracks here. MagLevs are the one's you really want if you want to go fast. But I don't foresee that ever happening here.

1. Population is too spread out
2. Cost

Yep, and MAGLEV was exactly the technology they were talking about. Basically, no moving parts and no friction...amazingly perfect-ish tech!
But, yes, the population being so spread out in relation to the cost is what seems to have eventually killed it.

The day has arrived. I'm talking about my appointment with the eye doctor who is going to perform my double cataract surgery. Lots of people have told me how "it isn't that bad". I am sure that is probably true. However, I am dreading it all the same. Perhaps it wouldn't seem quite so dreadful if the surgeon/clinic wasn't an hour's drive from our house. I'll have to grin and bear it, since it really must be done. I should have exact dates by the end of the day. At least today's appointment is in an office closer to my house. He has a city office where he only see patient's one day a week, and then his suburban office/clinic where he does his surgery.

Oh Pixie Dust. Best of Wishes. I took my Mom twice. She has Mac so they did each eye 6 months apart. The first eye came out wondrously. By the next day Mom saw almost perfectly out of that eye without glasses. The second eye that had more disease from the Mac took a bit over a week for the vision to clear. Doc said that was to be expected however it did make her nervous. It did clear too. So I have high hopes for your successful surgery too.

I was thinking the same thing--those were definitely not Disney food prices!!

I went one weekend with DD down to her University and the next weekend to Disney. Talk about Sticker Shock!

The first couple of years when we only had my DS we stayed off site right outside the Magic Kingdom. Great hotels (now kinda scary)
and the moderates were not yet born on property. Food choices were plentiful and not anymore than around home or less. We always had free full breakfasts those few years at our hotel (not a motel like moderates are in reality) Having a little kid we generally ate dinner on our way back to our hotel off site. So really we only paid one meal in the parks and it wasn't as disproportionate to real life back then. Funny what happens with all that over a few decades. :cyclops:   :banghead:

Between the prices of resorts, admission and food things have certainly changed on Walton's Mountain.

Good morning and after today's yuck I'm looking at 80 and lots of sunshine for the next week to 10 days. Happy dance:inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove: with luck the pool closing will be the 1st of October. That's when they close it at the latest no matter the weather.

Our last pool closes September 30th. It should be cool again by then. Unfortunately a few days later round #2 of Warmth again.
