You're state is in my families prayers. We are in my Hamlet on #3 Red Cross sent to Houston. 1st arrived before stormThanks gang, I saw y'all's recent alerts, and I'm sorry I haven't responded sooner.
With all the pain further south, I just haven't "felt it" to be on the thread too much. We've made donations, wish we were in a position to do more. The rain has pretty much stopped, but, the flooding is still, of course, occurring.
I know I posted at some point over the weekend that we were fine. Lost some shingles from the roof, lots of rain, but nothin' too crazy. We've had many thunderstorms over the years in our area that have been way worse. Monday got partly cloudy/sunny for us in the afternoon, and even all 7 of the low water crossings on the backroad portion of my commute to the office had no water over them. It was pretty sunny all day here today, although, probably, long gone are my beloved 100+ degree temps...![]()
I've, obviously (little green light) been here quite a bit, but, I've been mostly buzzing through TRs to keep my mind off certain things.
Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers for all affected here in Texas.
Remember, those in Louisiana, and maybe a few other states, may need them, as well.
Continued prayers to ALL affected by this catastrophe.
Anyway gang, thanks again...!
Half done! Imagine her climbing out of bed goes to living room and seeing sky!So happy to hear that her roof is finally being fixed!!! Not a thrill to wake up to people working right above her, but I'll bet she's relieved this is getting done, nonetheless.![]()
I think his football was round.Actually, @Mr Ferret 88 , I would have assumed your high school yearbook photo would have looked more like this--varsity handegg --

Not exactly big plans, just a small bbq family only and relaxation time at the poolNot to change the daily subjects here, but does anyone have any fun plans for the long Labor Day weekend? We'll do at least one cookout--a steak, and Jack gets the bone, which he loves! (Jack loves summer for all the steak bones he gets.) We'll hang out, do the usual errands, etc. Plan to get in some walking the woods and some bike riding, too.

Thank you, I may have a few of those.
Wait, what? Mac and cheese in a box? Wouldn't that get messy?I would like some more fresh tomatoes as well. The farm market has some good bread guys and a doggy baker on Saturdays. So I would like to get some bread for us and some good treats for Kapono.
I think hubs is still planning on the brisket, he hasn't taken it out of the freezer yet. Maybe I will make some mac and cheese (home made, not box) to go with it.
They're doing a drive where my dh works and few guys he works with went down there to help out. Prayers for all still suffering and those yet to be affected. You're state is in my families prayers. We are in my Hamlet on #3 Red Cross sent to Houston. 1st arrived before storm
Today at Walgreens as I paid with debit card asked for RC donation and you tap amount. Money collected will go specifically to Harvey. The states are all thinking of you all.
That's exactly it...natural instinct is an excuse. If I see food in a store that looks delicious and I'm hungry, I'm still able to discern that it doesn't belong to me and therefore I have no right to it. It is no different with clothing...just because you are attracted to something or it arouses a certain emotion doesn't mean you get to act on it. And girls can not be held accountable for someone else's actions. I don't know what will make you happy, or sad, or mad, or whatever...it's not my job to make sure you won't feel certain emotions. It's YOUR job to CONTROL your emotions and if you can't, then you should not be unleashed on society. I have a huge problem with the "Boys will be boys" mentality that says boys just aren't capable of controlling themselves or behaving nicely. They are not wild animals. If you do your job as a parent, they most certainly can learn what's appropriate and what's not. My kids didn't learn on their own not to run out in the street. We taught them that it was dangerous. They didn't learn to brush their teeth before bed by themselves...we taught them that that was the expected behavior. If you can teach them not to steal, not to use physical violence, etc, you can teach them not to violate girls' bodies. You think girls don't have those hormones? Do you think they don't notice and attractive male? Yet how often do you hear of a girl grabbing a boy's rear end because she just couldn't help herself? The difference is that it is expected of girls to be polite and demure and to keep their hands to themselves while boys will be boys....they just can't help it? I call shenanigans. Is it confusing and scary to feel all those emotions that you're not used to? Yes...but it doesn't excuse you from following laws and behaving properly. And this is where I think we have gone wrong for decades. And you didn't say this but I've heard it as an excuse to go overboard.
It is the female students that are targeted both corporately and in schools by dress codes. We even had an era while I was just entering the business world that women needed to dress in suits like men, had to wear pump shoes, (ouch) heel size, wear hose on legs. HR has removed most of these restrictions and this is what the schools are moving onto. Too often I've heard the girls clothing is distracting to young male students. I actually think it is best to instill good judgement and self control from young. No you can't comment on a bra strap, no you can't lift a skirt cause it is shorter. We watch the adults of the world, Uber immediately comes to mind. Sometimes I think if behaviors were demanded to be appropriate from early on in life many would grow up knowing how to control their natural instincts.
