Today my DD and I saw a young girl and her grandma in a mall in Central IL with a 12 week old puppy. (since when can puppies go to a mall? new?) Anywho...so cute Beagle, Chiwawa, Dachshund mix. So cute, cried when petted. Just moved from her Mama but sweet.

Fur Fix.
I have been seeing pups showing up at the grocery store a few times. Not service dogs. Both were in the child seat part. One even had it's doggie bed. A little weird, but better than leaving pup in the hot car. (I don't know. Just trying to make myself okay with it.)

Ten days?! Yikes--they must be paying you well at your job!! Way to go!!! :cat:
There's some parental subsidies. I paid for pass and the airfare, and I'll buy alcohol and souveniers. But food and room is 100% paid for. And my pass will get me 3 trips: this yrip, February, and next August.

Even with working, I should be able to take three vacations per year, aided by our shutdown between Christmas and New Years.

I forgot to tell you guys I think...but when we were at an amusement park last week, we were talking about some rides and they have this ride there, pretty much the only one I'll do at this park, and it's a boat ride. It's basically like PoC with a wild west theme instead of pirates. So then DD starts talking about it, but got her tongue twisted around her I teeth, so she couldn't see what she was saying (that's what my mom used to say) and she called it Carrots of the Pirabbean. So PoC is now The Carrot ride.:hilarious:

Seems you got one hell of a deal!

Yeah, not bad at all. Actually, if I go pretty much anywhere with them, they subsidise. Stuff I do on my own or with friends...not so much. So my Disneyland trip I paid for, as well as my SC trip, but they paid for WDW in January and they buy my food here. I figure once I'm making more, they'll ask me to buy my own food. But I can't see them ever asking me to contribute to the room.

I'm too lazy to look up why the sunis more dangerous during an eclipse versus any other day. And peopls are going nuts for this.

Saw a news clip of a man who looked directly up at the eclipse for about 7 seconds at the most (this was many years ago--he was a teenager at the time). He said that the damage was not immediate. He walked home after viewing the eclipse, and after a while, his vision became a bit blurry. Anyway, he did permanent damage to his right eye--the eclipse burned a hole in his retina. He was just lucky that didn't happen to both of his eyes. Damage to the retina was not irreversible.

So I don't know why it's more dangerous to view it either, but based upon what's happened to others, I think I'll just pass. Plus, I'll be back at work tomorrow, so I'll probably be staring at a computer screen during that time.

Warnings here too about keeping pets indoors and away from gazing out windows during eclipse.

Not a bigger dog lover out there than me and an advocate of service dogs, they are beyond awesome. I want service dogs licensed much like to be afforded a disability parking pass from the state which requires doctors contributing to the application, I believe this should be the same type of application with service animals. Too many people just 'pretending' and then the real people with service animals are given the stink eye. Just like a plate for car or rear view mirror tag, the dogs would be give an official service tag. My thoughts anyhow.

Yes, I've known this since I was pretty young. Never look/stare at the sun, solar eclipse, or welding without proper eye protection. Regardless, I've always passed, too. I'll watch the news later.
As I've mentioned before, the first job I ever had was at a go-kart track that was owned by an elderly couple, and he was a WWII vet.
We also custom-built go-karts with Sachs engines that would do up to 70 mph. There was a lot of cutting, bending, and welding of tube steel to make them. We helped with the cutting and bending, but he always did the welding, of course.
Never cared to do welding myself, even with proper eyewear.
I heard on a local news report on Thurs. that the minimum welder mask you want to use is an 11 ("But, these go to 11!" :hilarious: ;)), whatever that means. :cyclops:

The go-karts for the public track were purchased from a manufacturer, but, the owner personally fitted them with 360 degree bumpers.

As a side note...
We were allowed to test drive the custom karts before the clients came to pick them up.
Doing 70-ish mph with your rear only a few inches off the asphalt was definitely a rush...!!!!!!! :joyfull: :)
