Yep. My kids had some very sad news yesterday. A mutual friend of theirs for a long time was killed in a car crash the day before yesterday. Don't know still what happened but it was 3 cars, 3 dead, 1 car driver OK cause the semi didn't run over that particular car like the other two-just not enough time I hear for the semi to avoid the collision ahead. They were in route to a basketball game, her being a coach. School was cancelled yesterday. Horrible.

I hate winter.

Terrible! Thoughts go out to your kids. Something young people shouldn't have to deal with.

Dog is in the doghouse, so to speak. Early this morning, I was taking a few items out of a Christmas storage box and put them on the floor in the livingroom, for just a minute while I went to the closet for a hook. (I have this small, old knitted wreath from my grandmother, that I put in my kitchen each Christmas.)

Well, don't you know that the DOG decided to grab the little knitted wreath off the floor and proceeds to run upstairs. Caught the varmint out of the corner of my eye and I bolted after him. But, there is a raised area from the back room to the kitchen. My foot caught underneath the raised area, and I went airborne and crashed down on the floor (my knees took most of the hit), and just missed smashing my face into the tile. Got up, limping. I called up to hubs upstairs to get the knitted wreath away from the thief!!! :banghead: Now I have two huge bruises on both knees, they're slightly swollen, and I pulled a muscle in my right leg and right foot. Dog is getting coal in his stocking for Christmas!
OH NO!! Did your hubs manage to rescue the wreath??

Hahaaa...!!! :hilarious:
Me too, with what he's put himself through over the years...!
He's only about 4 months younger than my pop, though. :)

Not so much the age as he is the same age as my Mom more all the things that he has 'done' over the last 70 years, most like him buckets were kick'd long long ago. His living on defies everything the medical world preaches.

That's one thing I miss from my original hometown:(

You'd think Santa would take a ride in our fire truck, I've never seen that though he did once come down a rope from a county helicopter to the little tikes Christmas Party complete with real reindeer waiting for Santa on the ground.

Yeah, that really happened years ago and was never repeated. Reindeer and children running around don't really mix so well :cautious: and nobody told the Rent-a-Reindeer folk that a helicopter was going to be hovering real low, kicking up a strong wind with lots of noise. :jawdrop: Wasn't exactly conditions for usual Reindeer games.

I grew up with Hershey's chocolate. As a kid I loved the stuff and once or twice a year we went there. I miss the factory tour:(

Hershey Chocolate Bars were are go to chocolate for s'mores. When they changed the shape of the bars and the stampings from squares to rectangles I swear they changed the recipe-like more paraffin to chocolate ratio, one of the 'trade secret' other flavors lol.

So my daughter put up her new tree for the first time all be herself. I said your tree, do what you want. She's just missing the tree topper which Santa is bringing. :) Do you think she put enough on it? :joyfull: She is so proud she took a picture to share. And the lights blink too.

I think it looks wonderfully festive! My DD decided it would be a "cool effect" to have a bunch of ornaments in one place. So there's this big bald spot and then one busy spot and I asked the kids if there was a reason. DD decided it was not as cool as she thought it was going to be. LOL

I got everything on my to do list done including a trim. YEA! for my place being open extra hours right before the holidays, other wise I may not have had time with the cruddy weather we been having. Best of all I had it home before the temperature dropped below freezing and a few stray fakes began to fall. Wet roads, rapid temperature drop and stay flakes does not make for a fun time to be out and about.:cold::coldfeet::mad::cry:

So . . . on a Saturday morning your lunatic, insomniac neighbor decides to snowblow the sidewalk?? Did I read that correctly??!! I can understand not getting up, throwing on coat and going out to yell at the loser; but maybe someday when it's daylight, and you see him (or her) out there, perhaps just casually mention how disruptive it was . . . :cautious:

Reminds me of a night a few years ago when one of the neighbors (across the way--set back away from the street) took out one of his toys to play with at about 3 AM as well. (He works for the DPW and has all kinds of trucks, etc. at his disposal.) It was some sort of tractor thing (front loader?) and he decided to knock down trees and brush on his land -- at 3 AM. The noise would wake up the dead from the "pruning" he was doing, and of course, the continual backing up of the vehicle . . .beep . . .beep . . . beep . . :banghead:

So, hubs politely mentioned to him (about 2 weeks later) that he might want to do that sort of thing in the daytime, from now on.

I often think alcohol is involved. Over 10 years ago my neighbors were in Mexico and left their 19 year old home, from a toddler, the boy of poor judgement and he always viewed me as Mom #2 (in a good way.) It was likely around 1 or 2 am, work/school night. His Dad and he had Drag Race vehicles in the garage that is bigger than the house. So parents out of the country-show off to his friends...cranks one up and pulls it out of the garage. His Dad only started them at reasonable hours during daylight as they are beyond loud and vibrate surrounding houses windows. I look out the window for the NOISE and see these teen boys out in their driveway-all just staring at running racecar.

Me -----> Fly out the back door to our fence, loudly call his name. I tell him to put that car back in garage, turn it off, close door and for all of them to get in the house immediately and not to come out until daylight. Scrambling like the fools they were. Don't know if it was my stern angry voice or the fact that I was standing there in my Jammies having a hissy fit.

But it's not a chew toy -- except HE thought it was . . . I literally was out at the closet for no more than 30 seconds when I caught him running with it. Never thought that would happen, but with Jack, one must anticipate bizarre and unexpected behavior!! :banghead:

Love your DD's comment--and yes, the wreath was more important to me than my injuries! ;)

Doing better this morning. Still have some minor discomfort, but I'm much better than yesterday afternoon. :)

Glad you are feeling a bit better.

Tell Santa not to put Jack on the Naughty List, it was a momentary lapse of judgement and not a reflection of his overall angelic self. :inlove:

Ahhh...seems like she has that eclectic eye and style. I can relate.
