Woot for the patterns. They really are pricey. I generally refuse to buy them. Gran taught me how to make patterns and that is generally what I do.

And for your son what a great day for him and you guys too. The smile part made me melt. After reading your trip report I did note he generally did not smile...so a smile has to mean a great deal...top that with verbal and the makings of a good day all around.

Yah, it's not enough that they soak $200 every month for this transit pass (for my zone #), but if it messes up, the onus is on the customer to get it fixed. :mad: I have a few different ways to get to work, and one of them is via a commuter train. Again, I wasn't going to take a subway train to get to that crosstown location either, because I'd have to pay!!

All this must be hard to digest for those people who don't take public transit, but this type of bull carp goes on, and there is no recourse. People complain and all, and the transit system gets away with murder--and have been for many, many years. At least our present governor of the state has started to crack down on their procedures, but it will take time.

One good thing: one of my bosses took pity on me this morning and contacted the payroll manager, and authorized a full day's pay for me. So I didn't have to either take my vacation time or make up the time that I was late (25 minutes). :)

Sorry for your transport difficulties. But kudos to your boss for being understanding and letting you get full pay for the day. It's probably because you work hard and they know you deserve it.

I was voter number 2. I let hubby be voter number 1. I must say I was got a sense of relief once my vote was cast. I knew for months who I was voting for but I think once I actually cast it I knew my job was done. I could do no more. I guess I should have voted early so I could have felt relieved earlier.

She's definitely got a lot of personality. At the same time, she really doesn't want to hurt anyone. She's never even hissed at a human. She's hissed at barn cats who come too close to the house, but if she doesn't trust a human, she'll hide. She's not aggressive at all. But she will occasionally bite my mom or me if she's unhappy with us moving her. In which case, we shove her off us and then ignore her. Eventually she comes back with a guilty look on her face and apologizes.

The only other time she'll try to bite is when she's playing. In that case, we sometimes play with her, but if she starts getting too aggresive, we give her a toy. She likes to sneak attack from the kitchen chairs. We'll walk by one of them and not realize she's there until she jumps up and whaps us with her paw. Sometimes I notice she's there and I move out of the way and she just hangs over the back of the chair, waving her paws at me:hilarious:

Glad to hear they didn't dock your pay, etc.! :)

On the other hand, good grief on the monthly public transportation gouge...not to mention all the other potential snowballing complications...!!! :confused:
With present gas prices, I'm spending only about $70 a month driving my own vehicle to work and back. Would be closer to $50-$55 if I was still drivin' Lilly Dimples.
Of course, I'm not factoring in wear and tear on the vehicle, a flat tire along the way, a potential breakdown, etc.
But, then again, I'm also very easy on my vehicles. I don't hammer them around, I start coasting way out from a known stop, so I'm easy on the brakes, I maintain them regularly, and all that jazz. I can't remember the last time I had a flat tire, etc., on a commute (so now, one will happen tomorrow :oops: :cautious: ;)).
If I had public transportation available to my office at that price, plus all the other potential carp, I'm pretty sure I'd still opt to drive my own personal ride...! ;)

conmen probably started to "copy" the tokens. hence the need of computer esque systems with validation techniques.
