Sympathy like. May today be much better GWS xoxo
Thanks so much. I went to the grocery, intended to buy a few things, but midway through. I had another asthma attack. It's allergic asthma. I hate to say this but we need rain. Really bad. It's super dry out here. Hubby went back and picked up what I couldn't finish doing. Allergic asthma won't kill you, but it's sure annoying. I'm asking for a bubble from Santa this year!;)

Oh, that sounds like fun! I like your day better than mine. My transit pass stopped working the other day, for no reason at all (it's valid for the current month). So before I go to work, I have to traipse down to the transit office in the city where they'll fix it, but I'll be late for work by about 45 minutes--and I lose pay for that. Yup. It's the transit system's fault for messing up my pass, and I also get docked pay. Welcome to life in the big city. Then after work today, I'll get to stand in lines at the voting location near where I live. It's going to be a long (and not fun) day.
I'm so sorry, good things should happen to all the good people on here!

Major success! I got about $200 worth of patterns for $12, patterns are so over priced! and my ds who never seems to want anything found 2 things he really wants. He was actually excited he may get one of them, I got an almost smile and he was verbal:eek: He's even argreed to go outside and rake leaves today. It's a great day:inlove:
I'm so happy for you and ds. May you have a wonderful holiday.

At first glance, the overall massing and proportion don't look too horrendous to me in regards to the overall style I think I'm seeing. But, not including the lights and decorations, I seem to be seeing a LOT of busy trim details goin' on there. And yes, a few daytime pics from a coupla' different angles would help to determine if I thought it fell (also, as we all know, tastes vary ;)) into the McMansion category.
After all, there are plenty of tastefully done newer mansions out there, along with plenty of ugly old ones, as well.

BTW...
On a house that size, that "carport" is known as a porte-cochere...! :D ;) :)
Can you say elite?;)

Hubby did, and it worked. I've also read that it's good for the flu. I don't know about that, but it's worth a try, if you can keep it down. Hubby said the concoction is horrible, but it worked, I forgot to add the blueberry wine. He said he would do it again. Made him feel so much better in a few hours!

Curious--where did you learn of this concoction? It almost sounds like an old country recipe.

You can tell T needs a big upgrade

You can say that again!! :in pain:

And I am guessing you have to pay out of pocket to board the bus while it is not working even though you've already paid for the month?

Yah, it's not enough that they soak $200 every month for this transit pass (for my zone #), but if it messes up, the onus is on the customer to get it fixed. I have a few different ways to get to work, and one of them is via a commuter train. On the commuter train only, there are conductors that just look at the passes. (On buses and subway trains, you have to tap your pass and the electronic chip inside is "read" in the fare machine--and the fare gates automatically slide open, so you can enter the train or bus platform.

So I had hubby drive me to the commuter station this morning, and I got the train into the city. (I wasn't about to pay for a bus connection to get to the train this a.m.) Once I was in the city, I then had a 25 minute walk to where the place was to get a new (replacement) pass. Again, I wasn't going to take a subway train to get to that crosstown location either, because I'd have to pay!!

All this must be hard to digest for those people who don't take public transit, but this type of bull carp goes on, and there is no recourse. People complain and all, and the transit system gets away with murder--and have been for many, many years. At least our present governor of the state has started to crack down on their procedures, but it will take time.

One good thing: one of my bosses took pity on me this morning and contacted the payroll manager, and authorized a full day's pay for me. So I didn't have to either take my vacation time or make up the time that I was late (25 minutes). :)

Well that was a nice surprise from the boss! But still what a pain in the behind. I worked in DT CHI and it is the same way, flash pass on the Metra Train, tap on bus and subway/elevated. About 2 years ago it converted to a new preload and there were all sorts of issues and they tacked on loading fees which have since been removed.
It is always something.

Before they had all these passes, etc., the transit system just used cash or tokens (you'd buy a roll of tokens and it would save you a little money). You'd throw the token in the fare box and voila. You'd enter. No problems--EVER.

Can I tell you how much I hate "progress"??!!!

I agree. I have to preload a card, start with $20 fee to activate x multiple cards for family members. Be fine if I didn't have $160 invested initially in something that I use 2-4 times a year. My Metra 10 ride pass I use more frequently and at least for the $85 whoever is traveling DT CHI with me can be punched on the same pass unlike the bus or subway touch system.
