I think my dad has you beat. He was 35 when I was born and 41 when my brother was born. My mom was 29 when I was born and 35 when my brother was born. She still complains that at 35, she was considered a "geriatric mother."

My mom was worried about going into labor a few days before I was born, so she went to court when my dad had a case and waited outside the courtroom. The judge asked my father, "Aren't you a little old to be starting a family?" and my dad responded, "Yes, your honor.":hilarious:

I have them beat - I was 42 when my youngest was born. Guess what? He's graduated college two years ago and is living on his own, and I was healthy enough to participate in his activities as much as all of the "young" moms.

My oldest is going to be 33 this year, and hasn't started a family yet. I'm not concerned - she has plenty of time. ;)

Sorry to hear that and I'll be damned. I've been around all these years and have never heard of it before. Sounds like a total hassle. Hope it gets better for you. At this point, I'd like to take back whatever whining I have been doing concerning my kidney boulder. (walks away with head hanging low in shame)
In 2004 I had a sudden onset of optic neuritis and lost partial vision in my right eye. After much testing they found I a symptom to MS. With some serious life changes and healing I got my sight back after two months. I had it under control until 2012 I had some back pain and woke up only able to move one arm and my head. That lasted a few days but my drop foot lasted almost three months. It took a lot of therapy but all is as well as it's going to be. I have good days and bad days, it's life.

I was 41 when my daughter was born. She will be 21 in a few weeks and is a senior in college. My son is 38. I loved being a young mom with my son, and I have loved every minute of being an older mom with my daughter. Even with their great age difference, they are best friends.
My oldest daughter has a lot in common with that. She had two kids when in her 20's (25 and 27). Then she had her little girl at age 38. Two almost complete generations of her own children (not quite, but close) She seem to be enjoying her second shot at small child parenthood, but, at times she admits that she is really tired sometimes. I enjoy having a little one around to grandparent. I had forgotten how much fun it was to play with the little ones, especially when I get tired and can give them back to their parents. :joyfull:

I think it was a little easier for me because my son was close to 18 when she came along, so it was like having an only child again. He was old enough to take care of himself. He also helped babysit her when I was at work, and my mom wasn't able to babysit. I resigned from teaching when she was three. I stayed home and homeschooled her all the way through high school.
She kept me young.
Even though I was so much older than the other mom's in the homeschool group, I had more energy and did much more with my daughter than any of them. I was the president of the group for several years. I was also in charge of the yearbook. I really believe pushing myself and staying very busy helped keep me young in mind and body. I still leave the rest of my family in the dust at Disney.

I'm sure my mom will be that way with my brother as he gets older. None of my friends believe me when I tell them she's 50; she really doesn't look it. My dad doesn't look 56 either, nor can you really tell that they're 6 years apart in age.

But since she was 35 when my brother was born, it was considered a "geriatric" pregnancy. Medical term, not my term.

My mom has told me for a long time that she's okay being an old grandmother. I'm not sure I want kids, but if she gets grandkids, she'll be old...er. :joyfull:

Good morning everyone. More pictures after this story about Disney and it's guests. When you think you have seen everything at Disney....someone does something that "takes" the cake. First story....hubby went to the bathroom, a grandpa came in with his grandson, he proceeds to the adult urinals and the kid goes to the small ones for kids. The grandfather looks over and says, oh my God. His grandson is licking the flusher at the urinal. That story tickled my funny bone. Next story is...:eek::oops::oops::rolleyes::rolleyes:.....so we are one Pirates ride, the little boy is in front of us, is saying pee, pee daddy. Dad asks wife if he can hold the boy out of the boat to do his business. She says, no you can't do that...so....he takes the kids pants down and he goes in the boat! The floor was completely wet. More crazy stuff you don't plan to see at Disney. Now, day two's pictures..View attachment 145234 View attachment 145235 View attachment 145236View attachment 145237View attachment 145238

I'm a bit of a mess. It seems my poor very old dog is giving up:( I just can't handle her not being herself. Please forgive me if I'm a bit off over the next week or 2, my dh called and said she couldn't even go for her late walk last night:( I'm afraid a decision has to be made soon.:(

Oh, Figgy, I'm sorry to hear about your sweet dog. There's nothing worse than the "decision" about an older pet and my heart goes out to you and your family. You will know when it's time, and so will your dog. Hugs to all.

Bets, those are gorgeous pictures!! Very cheerful, indeed!! (You forgot one other person who also likes the bigger pictures--that would be @donaldtoo . You see, it's the way his mind works, from where he lives. Apparently, you haven't seen his coffee cup . . .) :p

I still wonder why they didnt just block that thread and prevent trolls from pouring in instead of deleting.

My guess is that the mods are spread thin as it is, and sometimes all they have enough time for, is to just delete some posts. I briefly looked at the News & Rumors section early this morning before work, and man, that forum was hopping as well. Again, I think the mods do the very best they can, and I can understand that when a big event happens, (and there are multiple threads all over the place about it), there's only so much they can do to keep up, to make sure that all threads are suitable reading for a wide audience.

I wondered about that. When I logged in today, my alerts simply said that my thread had been moved to another forum, which I assumed might have been the Premium Members' Lounge, but I wasn't sure. (My membership lapsed and I have not been able to renew yet, so I could not see the PML.)

So, until I saw this, I thought it was probably moved to there. I did wonder why anything not Disney related would have been moved FROM Chit-Chat to somewhere else. And I never thought of it as being removed completely (especially as the notification had said that it was being "moved" and it still had the arrow). But I did see that now you can't even open a page. So, it looks like it was moved first (creating the arrow in its original home), then perhaps removed completely.

But yes, my intentions were what @MinnieM123 said. More less a place for the news, condolences, and civil discussion, especially maybe from people affected -- like the comment about a friend working in Entertainment at WDW. Today before I logged on, I had already realized how big this tragedy was now, and thought maybe that thread would become something like the "This is Terrible" thread from 9/11/01, which has become something many here return to for remembrance.

Is it gone for sure, or was it moved to the PML? If it is gone for good, I think that is sad also.

Even though your thread was apparently short-lived, (through nothing that you shared), I understand the decision of the mods to remove it, if other members went off into discussions, that were not in keeping with your compassionate intent. When I first read your thread yesterday, I also had that same thought about it being a long-time term thread, that would be brought back once a year (similar to the 9/11 thread from years ago), so that people could reflect once a year upon the event in Orlando. Unfortunately, it didn't quite turn out that way.

Please note that many people read the various threads, and not all may respond, (some readers are not even forum members, but like to read the threads). What I'm trying to say to you, is that I have no doubt that many appreciated your respectful and sensitive post, and your kindness did not go unnoticed.

So do any of you have a favorite Disney attraction? Mine is Splash Mountain. It was my first ride on my very first trip to Disney World in 2005 and I absolutely loved it then and love it even more today. I think it has everything you could want in a Disney attraction: catchy, memorable music, lovable characters, great story, fun thrills, fantastic theming. I think it's going to take something absolutely incredible for it to be topped as my favorite attraction.

I love the characters and I really wish they were more popular and had more merchandise. Br'er Fox is my favorite, I think he has a great character design (all three of them do really) and I find him very funny and charming. I particularly love his laugh! I knew about all of them through Splash Mountain first, but when I got my first iPhone (which was 2010 I think), I watched all of the animated segments of Song of the South on YouTube and couldn't get enough of the three. I didn't really understand the criticisms at the time, I thought that it looked like any other Disney animated film. While I do understand some of the issues people have with the film now, I still don't find anything really offensive about the animated scenes and think that at least those should be rereleased. There's some great music, humor, and animation in those, it's really a shame that so many people will not get to see them. I do wish the whole movie was animated (like I've heard it was originally intended to be), as the animated segments are clearly the best parts, and it would probably be remembered and loved alongside classics like Peter Pan and Cinderella.

I just really want to see more of Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox, and Br'er Bear, I think they can and should do much more with them. I think it would be cool if they made a traditionally animated short in front of one of their future films, or even much less possibly, a fully animated film. I would get as hyped as a Star Wars fan if they did that! Being realistic, I wouldn't count on a whole film happening anytime soon, but a short doesn't seem like too much to ask for. I think the characters are more popular than Disney thinks they are and it would be really nice to see them get more love.

Back to Splash Mountain, even after nearly 25 years, it still manages to impress with every ridethrough and never fails to put a smile on my face! It's a true Disney classic and should remain a part of the Magic Kingdom for many years to come.

So what's your favorite attraction? (I apologize for the length).

Splash Mountain is definitely in my top10, but, there are just so many attractions at WDW I like. :)
Also, the full 1946 version of SotS is available on YouTube. I watched it about a year-and-a-half ago. :)
