I guess I'm more in your camp. While I do take photos and more now that my iPhone takes photos good enough for me (not a photo contest obviously)

My kids were born on the cusp of the VHS video recorders. My FIL had one we would borrow at first and was as big as a portable TV news camera. Heavy too. When my DD was born we bought our own, smaller than a shoebox, still heavy but took very nice videos. We took it to Disney only once. At home and at Disney we found we were not experiencing what we were taping and we were lacking memories of what we actually videoed. Disney that big heavy bag was a pain to tote around and someone always had to be keeping an eye on it and bringing it on some attractions became an issue. The one thing we did come away with was the Original Osborne Lights on Christmas.

Hahaaa...!
DWifey and myself bought one of the big ol' RCA camcorders that you sat on your shoulder, back in '89! I took a lot of video, especially when the kiddos came along. I have quite a bit of video from our first three WDW trips, from different camcorders. But, yes, more pics from my iPhone these days, along with short videos, as well...! :)

I've actually seen that, guests going to designated areas that are no longer designated. Over the last 5 years ago Disney has made a good effort in sticking the smoking sections for the most part in out of the way areas where in most cases you have to directed head to join the smokers. I think this new direction of Disney at both the Parks and Resorts is so much better than years ago. I also find this with the perfume they sell that sets me off big time along with my DD. I know where it is, I steer clear. Norway was a little more of a challenge, France easy but I know where all the perfume venues are and I stay away. Problem solved. In lines when I find someone drenched in the stuff I let a few people go ahead of me.

Yea, I tend to steer clear of perfume areas and detergent aisles in stores. I don't have a reaction, per se, most of the smells just annoy my senses.
And yes, folks doused in the stuff is pretty off-putting, as well.

Hi everyone, We are back from a great trip. Don't believe the other threads saying how bad Disney is. I didn't see one trash can overflowing, the bathrooms were in better shape than I have seen them in years. The food hasn't been reduced in size. They are using more different brands at the resorts. No longer Heinz ketchup, but I liked the new brand better. Our room was nicely cleaned, and we were supplied with plenty of towels, and soaps, shampoo etc. No complaints. I didn't post as much, as we went in everyday for rope drop, left around 2 pm, to go back to the resort, took a shower and nap. Then we went out for dinner. We only made it to Universal once, as the construction on I-4 was still going on. I will post some pictures each day, so I don't overload the system. On to the first set of pictures!View attachment 145088

So my internship is going really well, so well that my boss took me out to lunch today. He spent about five minutes talking with me about work, and then we talked about the Orioles and Disney for the rest of lunch. :hilarious:

But the good news is that they want to bring me in as an enrollment agent, which is part-time and paid! :D
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you!

Made a major discovery tonight (drum roll . . .) I have 18 cans of Bumble Bee solid white tuna. Although I like tuna sandwiches, I haven't had one in a few months. o_O

Now, sometimes when I see a sale on something (like tuna . . . ;) ), as in, 5 cans for $5, I'll pick up 5 cans and put them in a cabinet. Then, I forget . . . , and see another sale someplace else, so I buy more. Anyway, tonight I was rummaging through a tightly packed cabinet, and I counted 18 cans of tuna in there! :hilarious: :hilarious:

P.S.: Never did find what I was initially looking for in the kitchen cabinet--the tuna cans were in the way!! :p

Considering you can now record 4k with newer videocameras cellphones. I dont think Camcorders will be needed nowadays.
Amazing how the technology has changed in such a few years.

And please remember that when the trees were first planted, they didn't provide much shade either. It took years for them to grow up and provide the pictures that people post from the 90's. The new trees will do the same in the future.

I remember disagree with you about this statement a few weeks ago. I want to guide you to a thread that @PhotoDave219 has posted from the the month after the park opened. I know you didn't visit WDW until the late 70's but I did attend when it opened and I remember the large trees they had brought in. As you watch the video Dave posted please note how well Disney did the landscaping for the opening and how tall many of these trees are throughout the Magic Kingdom. What you are remembering taking until the 90's to grow actually had a very big head start. You'll likely enjoy seeing a good quality video from a park you didn't get to see when it opened.

Here is the link to Dave's thread.

Lovely pictures! I'm glad you are safely back from your trip. It sounds like it was fabulous! (But you were at Disney, of course it would be fabulous!)
