I have always wanted to visit NOLA. I'm now thinking our 50 anniversary should be something other than Disney. I just can't decide where, as we have been many places due to hubby's work. I'm looking at Austin, I love the river walk, or Nola, never have been there. I can't do Europe by plane, I have leg circulation problems. We are close to Yellowstone, but hubby says the hotels there are not the best. He had mice running around in his sink at night!:hilarious:
That would depend on where you stay. I've been there many times and never had mice running around in my sink. Granted, it's wide open spaces there, so there is a lot of wildlife, and that includes mice, but if you are staying in a decent hotel, you'd be fine. Stay away from hotels in Jackson....they are SERIOUSLY overpriced. But someplace like Cody, if you don't want to stay IN Yellowstone would be great. Powell is iffy....some are good some are REALLY bad.

I'm so glad that kids have moved beyond cliques. It was so awful back then. I think of our class president not moving beyond middle school. That's sad. He is a Doctor in Ind. I would never go to him. He wasn't a smart person either, how did he get through college......he had powerful parents, with a lot of money to donate. My sister says, he is known as a very bad Doctor, but somehow he keeps his license. I guess this is how the world works today.....Sorry for the rant. This has been on my mind for several month's since I talked to a former best friend in high school, who still lives in my hometown. Thanks for listening, or feel free to move on. I just did my own therapy, and it was free! :D:D:D
Yes, there are some doctors that it's a wonder they made it through high school let alone college and medical school. It truly makes one wonder, doesn't it?

I actually have fond memories of high school, despite battling with depression during those years. I was so insecure, but I still had lots of friends. It just took me a long time to finally realize I'm a good person and be happy with myself. Again, a late bloomer. One thing I hope for my daughter is that she has a strong sense of self and self-worth, like @Goofyernmost. Whoa, did I really just say that? :p
Hey, she could do worse!;)

I found living in a small town, where every one was so judgmental, according to who had "money", was crazy. I married a poor guy, and didn't care. My Mom, living there didn't approve. She wanted someone "better" with more status and money for her daughter. Sister married a guy with a well respected family, who owned a jewelry store. They ended in divorce, as he was a wife beater. Me and hubby are still happily married.
That's exactly it....the "haves" vs. the "have nots". Coming from coal country, my whole town was full of the "haves" and we were "have nots" so I was not at all popular. That's fine by me as most of the popular crowd, at least the ones who were superficially popular, are divorced and struggling. Their popularity didn't do them any favors longterm. There's one girl who was pretty much the most popular...always voted homecoming/prom royalty, and she was an absolute sweetheart...genuinely a nice person, and she's still happily married. All the jealous girls/social climbers who tried to take her place just ended up miserable and really went nowhere. I graduated from college with honors and I'm happily married so I absolutely can not complain, and I think part of the reason for that was that I wasn't popular, so I had to make real true friendships and learn to build relationships with people based on respect and trust and things we actually had in common, not just how much I wanted to be homecoming queen. "Character building" stuff, I guess, so I don't regret the time in high school. But that doesn't make me like those people any more than I did then, and I certainly don't trust many of them or want to hang out with them at a reunion. I'd rather spend the money it would take on a trip to Disney, and to see the people I actually like. It's also a wonder to me how all the huge schools nowadays have reunions at all....with 600 people in a graduating class, do you even KNOW your classmates enough to have a reunion? My class was only 32 kids, so we all knew each other. And most of us had been going to school together since elementary school. But in bigger places, I just have to wonder why they would even do a reunion when they probably only know 25% of the people, not to mention the fact that they probably were only actually friendly with 10%. How big was your class?

Me too. I wish she had someone who would oversee her welfare. She needs to be in a facility where she can't put herself in jeopardy, if she isn't in touch with reality. But as @figmentfan423 said. That isn't so easy to do.
Exactly....if she's that delusional, she shouldn't be on her own. And if she's NOT that delusional, she should be expected to follow the rules. But not having met her, I really have no idea, and if it doesn't bother other people that she cuts in line, or whatever, then far be it from me to say she can't. I can't imagine not saying something to her myself if she did it to me, but that's just me. But something doesn't sit right with me that she's "out of touch with reality" and there's no one to take care of her and help her. I would think social services would step in at some point if she's really that bad that she can't function in society and follow normal rules, etc.

That was great luck! I spent a lot of time in detention, for chewing gum, and talking in class. I did get my homework finished there. Mom was annoyed that she had to pick me up and hour later.;)
I got detention twice in my life..2 days in a row. We had to share lockers in 7th grade and apparently someone didn't like to do science homework. My locker partner refused to lock our locker and my science homework went missing two days in a row, which was an automatic detention. After that I learned not to keep my homework in my science book so it was harder to find. Never got detention again.

Thanks, he stayed in a cabin in Yellowstone National park.

Our class had 700 students and I admit I haven't been back for one single reunion. I have visited my close friends in high school. Like you said, so perfectly....I would rather spend my money on a Disney trip any day.

It was. I was young, only out of college a few years. Knew there had to be something better than being screamed at for what was so beyond our control. The job had some nice perks though especially when I was working there when the airlines didn't have the financial issues they do now. United built a fabulous double terminal and it is amazing. It likely would not be built in this era.
Did you work specifically for United then? One of my cousins was (maybe still is if she hasn't retired) a flight attendant for United and her husband was a pilot. (I know HE retired) Their son is a pilot for them now.

Good morning to everyone. We got some snow, but only about 2 inches. I can live with that. It's Friday, according to the calendar. It's hard to keep track of days being out of the work a day world.;)
I know the feeling this week! I just saw the weather for early tomorrow and we might get a light coating of carp and up into the mid or even high 50s Sunday. I'm not going out in any type of carp as it's not worth the risk. If we stay in tomorrow we'll watch one of those Disney specials maybe the resort one and finish going over our list of places we want to eat. That will make being stuck in one more day not so bad.

Those were mega boat of a car. And they lasted forever.
My first car was a 77 chevy malibu. Yellow. I paid for it myself and was so proud of that car. That thing was a TANK. We called it the banana boat and we'd stuff it full with friends on the weekend and go to the drive in movie theater. That drive in closed about 15 years ago...so sad because I have so many great memories from that.

Hahaaa...! :)
I DEFINITELY disagree on the "beer is nasty stuff anyway" part ;), but, I do understand if he has to drive and still wants a beer-like (there is still a trace of alcohol in them) drink.
I've tried those beers before, and although they're OK, they're just not the same.
If l'm drinkin', I ain't drivin'. As I've posted before, if DWifey and I go out somewhere where we drink, she drives 'cause she drinks the equivalent of about 4 glasses of wine in an entire year.
It's all good. Whatever works. :)
I don't drink much either, but I don't have a valid drivers license anymore. Apparently I could have switched my American one over to an international one in the first 6 months I was here, but that's not something they TELL you about and by the time I found out, it was too late. So I never got a drivers license over here....massively more expensive than back home, and once every so many years in Wyoming you have to actually go in to renew your license instead of just sending in a little card. I wasn't in the US at the time, so I couldn't renew my license there, and it is no longer valid either. So hubby has no choice but to drive. Last time I was in the states, I wanted to get a new license, but they changed the rules. It used to be that you needed 2 pieces of mail to show you live at the address you are giving, but now you have to show 2 UTILITIES bills, in your name. As I am no longer a resident, I can't produce those, and even if I could, you can no longer just walk into the DMV and take the test like you used to. You have to make an appointment, and they were full up for more than a month after I came back to the Netherlands. So no drivers license for me unless I can find 4000 euros to do it here.
