You were a Vermont boy. I'm surprised that you didn't see the Northern Lights a few times up in northern Vermont. I've seen them in mid- to northern Maine before. :)

I'll get shot for this, but, honestly, I really was never interested enough to look. Some of us are like that. When you get to heaven you do not get extra credit for having seen the Northern Lights.

After a bit of a rest we headed out this morning with two major destinations. The first being The Louvre and the second Notre Dame Cathedral.

As you might guess, this place is massive. So I will confine my photos to some of the most famous works in the building with just this comment. You had better be in shape to walk and walk a long way, up and down stairs if you decide to visit this amazing place. First let's see the postage sized masterpiece called the Mona Lisa.

View attachment 121746 There are obviously way to many treasures to photograph everything that the Louvre holds within it's walls and since we only had one day left in Paris we had to pick and choose. A serious art traveler would need to spend at least a week exploring it's many floors and areas. The grandeur of the building itself is jaw dropping. So off to Notre Dame Cathedral. No need for more commentary... it speaks for itself.

Oh, yea the food was good too, especially McDonalds. (which, BTW, are everywhere along with a certain rodent who at the time being will remain nameless.) :) They do have good French Fries!

Spectacular images you shared. From everything I've heard, the Louvre is an absolutely fascinating place. I think it's funny how small the Mona Lisa painting actually is, after all the hype about it over the years! ;)

If you were to pick one painting or sculpture in the Louvre that was your favorite, what would that be?

Notre Dame is grand. I love seeing old, majestic cathedrals, inside and out.

The closest experience I had to your own visit to Notre Dame in Paris, was when my parents took me to Montreal (as a teenager) and we visited the Notre Dame Basilica there. That was a sight to behold.

Nothing wrong with a quiet Thanksgiving. It was supposed to be just hubby and me too, but a friend of ours had her family plans fall through so she joined us too. There was plenty of food and it was still a relaxing meal.

And it was only Pluto, Minnie, Chip, and Dale. After you check in, you get to meet Goofy and take pics with him, which my daughter loved.

My dinner plate of all brown or beige food. :D Fried chicken and chicken nuggets were pretty tasty. Everything else was decent. There were other items that looked good, but I was already full after this plate.

DD absolutely LOVED the popcorn shrimp! Mac & cheese was good, too.

My dessert plate. My favorites were the bread pudding, creme brûlée, brownie, and cookies & cream tart. The strawberry thing was too sweet, the pear tart was decent, the lemon tart was good if you really like lemon, and the chocolate rice krispies treat had a weird taste.

The breakfast we had at Goofy's Kitchen was pretty darn good. We had the same characters available but we never got to meet Pluto. He never came out until right before we were going to leave and went to another section. Hubby and I had been there for about 40 minutes and we didn't want to wait any more. We did have the other characters stop at our table a couple times.

This is one of my peeves too. I can't stand being late, I don't like when I arrive somewhere late and everyone looks at me or is disappointed/frustrated.

All my friends know that I'm usually about 5 minutes early, and one time I was going to a friends house and I was about a mile away when my phone rang. It was my friend, it was about a minute before I was supposed to be at her house and she was calling to see if I was okay since I wasn't at her house yet!

Also one time in college I was about 5 minutes (or less) late for a class and I didn't want the prof to say anything about me being late (I don't know why I was worried, he never took attendance) or have people see me walk in late. So I just sat outside and listened to the lecture. (I'm strange, I know.)

They showed the location of sites and the streets indicating how to get to them from whatever particular McD's you happened to be in. I did catch good natured hell from a fellow in Italy that told me that he wouldn't go to the states and get a pizza, why was I in McD's. By that time I had enough pasta to fill a boat, so I had no guilt feelings at all.

When I exited the Paris metro for the first time, I looked up and right in front of me was a McDonald's. We thought about eating at them, and we probably should have at least looked to see if there were any menu differences. We did go into one at Versailles, but that was just to use the bathroom.

One of my brothers went to Europe years ago. However, even back then, he was able to find a McDonald's in most larger cities overseas. He's never been adventuresome with food, so for him, he was thrilled that he could find some "familiar" food overseas. ;)

Thanks! It was awesome...!
And yes, all of us on the trip (and others) knew, except her. SIL had asked for our blessing.
There were 13 in our group on that trip. Our family of 5, another family of 5, future SIL, as well as both our DDs BFFs. We have lots of pics and video of the Magical moment...! :)
