Take a plastic bag and fill with vinegar, and hang it over the head overnight. I use a rubber band. The mineral stains are gone. I also do a vinegar and baking soda bomb blast for the drains. Equal parts of each about a half cup, and let sit for thirty minutes and rinse with hot water. Haven't had to use a snake for years on the plumbing.

I'm going to try this! Seem so cheaper and more convienent than going out and getting Draino and our shower needs a good unclogging right now.

It appears I will not be here tomorrow. We have fall break and DH managed to finagle a day off, so we are heading to Den Haag to the Omniversum to see Panda: the journey home. And possibly Mysteries of the Unseen World...or something like that. And I can take the kids to the cupcake shop my friend and I found a few weeks ago when we were in Den Haag.

I hope you have a good day. I probably won't be on either. My parents are coming for a visit for a few days from far away so I will be paying attention to them.

Also, my son goes to his first sleepover with Beavers tomorrow night and I will need to gather many supplies. Went out tonight and bought him a thin self-inflating mattress, as it was on the list. That thing is darn cool!

So have a good weekend everyone, if I don't get the chance to check in.

Is anyone else excited about the announcement of Rick Bayless' restaurant going into Disney Springs? We have eaten at his Frontera restaurant in Chicago and enjoy some of his products that our grocery store sells and it is always been good. I think I might have to spend a month at WDW now with all the good places to eat!

Oh how I feel for you. This is day 6 for mine and I think it may finally have gone tonight...but we'll see when the meds wear off. I am so sorry you have to go through that especially when you are trying to study.
Thanks. I try to look on the bright side: it could be worse. I've never gotten to the point that you did with having to go to the ER for drugs (I go there enough for my asthma as it is...). My vision usually blurs before I get one, so I catch it pretty quickly. That was my sign this morning to get my latte and two Excedrin. And I know my triggers, so I can avoid them.

My second semester of college, I got a bad migraine. I had to get an extension for several assignments. Catching up was fun. Last semester, I had a bad one and missed a Spanish presentation (called the professor during her office hours ahead of time so she gave me permission). Couldn't keep food down, went to one class that morning wearing sunglasses. That professor, who is a stickler about attendance, told me to go home and that I should not have even come that day. Apparently I looked terrible. I came home and slept 8 hours straight...then got up for a bit, then slept another 12. I think because I can sleep, I've never needed the IV drugs.

The single worst migraine I've ever had was right before Christmas of my senior year of high school. I missed one day. My parents made me go the day before winter break. I had English second period and we weren't doing anything, so I was going to ask to go to the nurse and nap during that class. That teacher said forget the nap, go home (I apparently get pale when I get a bad migraine). My dad was working from home that day and my mom was working, so he reluctantly got me and took me to the doctor, who gave me all of my prescription meds. A snowstorm was coming to MD, but we were going to SC for vacation the next day. As we were driving down there, we got to about Virginia, and the migraine subsided. I was fine the entire time in SC. The day before we left, I could barely get out if bed to pack. Yet another reason to hate snow.

I'm sorry that you're on day 6 of yours. That would completely suck.

I use vinegar constantly to clean my house. That and Mr. Clean Erasers are hard to keep in stock around here.
With my asthma, we can't use most regular cleaners. My mom's cleaner is 1 cup vinegar + 1 cup alcohol + 1 cup water. Gets the job done, doesn't bother my asthma, so I can use it, and cheaper. We use it for most things, although we did find a toilet bowl cleaner and bathtub cleaner that I'm not sensitive to, and we have an enzyme cleaner for cat messes. Bleach may be used when I am not home.

just seen the announcement. Afraid I dont know this chef.

But he gets bonus points for doing the Mexican tortilla soup correct.
I HATED what they did with the soup at coronado springs.
I mean.. seriously.. yellow corn??? tomato paste (that looks like it came from a can)??

I use vinegar too to clean lots of stuff, magic erasers too. But fabric and vinegar are harsh. Salt in any form is also harsh on fabrics. We see the marks it makes on jeans and shoes in the winter let alone what various forms do to our roads. It takes a bit longer but it is a cheap weed killer and though acidic is not nearly as nasty to the enviroment as commerical weed killers are. Bleach also works well and quicker on weeds that form in sidewalk cracks, driveways etc., and more economical by the gallon vs weed killers. Gotta be careful with new windows though. Some of the newer UV windows can't be used with many home remedy cleaners.

High proof rubbing alcohol for windows. Works charms.

As far as stuff that doesn't like salt, use baking soda.

When they get clogged soak them in vinegar that makes them just like new:joyfull:

I do that too with vinegar. It will also remove road salt stains from leather boots. But if can do that to hard mineral build up imagine what it does to fabric that breaks down quickly. Gotta be careful with that stuff. Still we eat it. Kinda like Coke and its cleaning properties and we wonder why there are so many healing drugs for tummy problems.
