All those names. Like a small city that was lost that day.

Interestingly, there is still oil leaking from the ship all these years later. On a clear day, you can look down and see the actual ship. It's a very sobering experience.

Amazingly, the US was able to recover all of the ships that the Japanese had sunk except three: the Utah, the Oklahoma, and the Arizona.

Plus other exhibits:

The sign also continued to say that there was an escape hatch for the pilot, but it was never used. The Japanese lost about 86 pilots, some during training and testing. I believe only one US ship was ever lost because of one of these

USS Bowfin. We toured this ship the first time we were at Pearl Harbor

A submarine, which you can also tour

I believe that is an active duty ship as Pearl Harbor is still an active naval base. It's also considered a national park

You definitely learn a lot, not just about the attack on Pearl Harbor but about World War II in general by visiting Pearl Harbor.

Thank you so very much for remembering! I really appreciate that...! :)

It's definitely on my bucket list. Sooo much history there.
Almost half the servicemen lost were on board the USS Arizona.
I once watched a documentary about the memorial and the condition of the ship. I've always heard about the ship still leaking oil/fuel oil.
From what the documentary discussed, the ship is really deteriorating pretty rapidly now, and they were researching ways to support parts it so it wouldn't collapse and 'cause a major spill in the harbor.
I think they even mentioned about possibly pumping the oil out as another possible option.

And, of course, I could post on...! :D ;) :)

Anyway, again, thank you so much...!!! :)

I can understand how you'd make that assumption; but you must remember that in the world of "style", things only become outdated for a few months. Then, they become "retro chic". So either way, I'm still quite the swimsuit fashionista! :D
My apologies, I had forgotten that highly important aspect of fashion. You would not believe how many times I have gone from "in style" to "retro chic" over that last 25 years. Yes, I still have some things that I wore 25 years ago. They might have been able to just hang there in the closet for most of those years, but, every once in a while I take them out and run them on the test track to see if they still hold together.:joyfull:

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I hear you there. Speaking of the show, I haven't listened to the tiki room song in awhile....
I listened to it yesterday.
I bought the CD of all the attraction/ride music last year. Love it!

I feel a little sad every time the PoC track comes on, knowing that it will be closed for our upcoming trip. Last November we rode it 7 times. Even in its current state, I enjoyed every ride through.

Now to find the in-park music CD. I love the different music as you traverse from one land to the next.

Hi Jennifer, I agree, I've always found the one thing I remember about rides, is the music.
