The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I've had two flights where the turbulence was so bad people's drinks were spilling and I was white knuckled, praying and thought I was going to cry. Small planes are out for me.
My very first plane ride ever was in a 4-seater. Third plane was a 44-seater, with live chickens in the back.

Somehow the little ones give me the false confidence that they could be set down in a corn field if needs be.

Good news/bad news.

Auntie is coming home early. The lung infection from before Christmas has never really cleared up, and any exertion beyond sitting on a couch leaves her gasping for breath. Sadly, when you're a missionary in Tanzania, running a shelter for homeless boys, and feeding street children, there isn't too much time to sit on the couch.

Thankfully a donor just gave an unexpected $3000, and now the rent for the boys' home is covered for the next year. A local merchant just gave her 300,000 shillings; enough to build a couple of sets of bunk beds - so that will be four less boys sleeping on pallets on the floor.

She's coming home, but the infrastructure to keep things running is well established - a handful of local pastors with whom we have worked for more than 30 years. Another missionary couple is expected to go over sometime in the summer.

So, like I said good news - things will carry on, and Auntie will come home to receive proper medical attention.
Bad news - Auntie has to come home early to receive proper medical attention. And, I'm not sure her children will let her go back. Right now, she has no desire/will/strength to argue with them. May be a different story when she is recovered.

Prayers said. Glad she is coming home.

Maybe because you live in a hotter climate for most of the year, things like making tea in the sun might just be second nature. I just never heard of this out here, although I'm sure some people have heard of this, and probably do it in the summer. I just don't know anyone who does. Making tea in the sun sounds like fun! :)
You don't really need the sun, although it is quicker. I've made it by just leaving warm water and tea bags on the counter in a glass jug. In fact, since unsweetened tea is such a hassle to find in Florida, I've made it right in the hotel room.

@Cesar R M , I'd like to share my own opinion about the news clip you posted. From what I could see, the man arrested was in open defiance of the 10 p.m. curfew. He obviously knew he'd get arrested. (I'm not addressing any broader law enforcement issues either here in the U.S. or south of the border, but I did want to share with you, my perspective on that one film clip.)
oh I know about that, the issue is how he was detained and the usage of the humvee to distract the cameras.
That is akin to kidnapping.

Yeah, I look at how many wind up dead in those corn fields too, it cuts both ways. I just look at the celebrates alone that have passed in those little planes. We just lost 7 this month including an IL State coach coming back from the
final 4 tournament 2 miles outside the airport, in a field. :(
