Maybe because you live in a hotter climate for most of the year, things like making tea in the sun might just be second nature. I just never heard of this out here, although I'm sure some people have heard of this, and probably do it in the summer. I just don't know anyone who does. Making tea in the sun sounds like fun!

You and your son must be psyched, trying to pick the best of the reservations. I was very surprised to read that you actually had 4 BOG reservations, because from what I've read, many people can't even score one (although they may have tried during the busy season). (I don't do any ADR's so I don't have any first-hand experience.) I think that offering up the two that you don't want is a nice gesture, and they'd probably go very quickly. If you do post them, perhaps a good place might be over in the Restaurants and Dining thread.

The food at Via Napoli sounds delicious. The food there might even be better than BOG, but the design inside BOG is definitely something to see. (I've often just wanted to take a peek inside BOG, and see the pretty decorations, but didn't want to deal with the lines of people waiting to get inside.)

Can't wait to hear about the others that you and your son have picked!

I will post the final when we do it. But it might get changed day to day during our trip. Will it be OK for me to post daily here instead of doing a formal trip report? Or should I do a formal trip report?

Ha! That must have been rough to experience freedom in 9th grade, only to have it take away from you! After I left parochial school, I felt free and happy!! Plus, I was really into fashion at that point in my early teens, so wearing the latest fads was a big deal to me!

Yeah I couldn't handle the freedom. I ditched school and got bad grades. When my parents put me back in private school I did better. I needed the smaller class sizes and structure.

Thats a really sad memory.
No surprise on the shock.

I still wonder why the had to move the Jewerly box to the basement.
I dont think these type of spirits are evil. They could be the girl saying that she is fine where she is.. a final goodbye.

Kinda reminds me of the great movie of Robin Williams "What dreams May come".

The box never came out of the basement either. Remains packed in a memory box of my sister that lives in a different state.

This is a fun, light-hearted thread for just chit chatting. This is the place for updates on the ups and downs of life, news of the weird, favorite TV shows, good movies, etc. But we should all at least act like friends. Clean slate and all that.

I'll start by saying I just saw Gone Girl. Whoa! Didn't see that coming. But I won't tell you what - no spoilers please.

I have a glass galloon jug I fill with water and some tea bags. Put the lid on, place in the direct sun in the morning and by dinnertime you have brewed tea.

I love small aircraft--you really "feel" like you're flying. The larger aircraft have been designed for a smoother ride; but it can get boring up at altitude, when you feel like you're at home sitting on a sofa in the livingroom, versus feeling the current of the winds aloft, as in a smaller aircraft.

I've had two flights where the turbulence was so bad people's drinks were spilling and I was white knuckled, praying and thought I was going to cry. Small planes are out for me.

Have you been detained with no reason by police?
a lot of people have. perhaps it hasnt happened to you.

I can tell you that more than 80% of Mexicans do not trust their police force.
Specially now since 47 protesters were MURDERED by military and then the corpses given to narcs to destroy.
Worse was when our government officials tried to downplay it and lied so many times (the Argentinian CSIs disproved almost every thing my government said).

So excuse me if I do not see the same trust as you have.

In the US during uproar times like this cerfews are set with just cause. When you see how many buildings were burned the night before, buildings including 2 brand new ones, 20 police officers hospitalized, fire hoses cut a cerfew is going to be enforced. While I have deep empathy for your country and the military with the things they do those examples are hardly what this specific incident in Baltimore was about with this person.

I can definitely see why your view is more jaded. That is a sad state of affairs in your country.

Things up here are very different. Different even than our neighbours in the U.S.
Not necessarily better. Just different.

I agree, it is very difficult to compare major incidents like these and paint with a broad stroke. I genuinely understand the frustrations, I don't understand destroying neighborhoods, stealing and harming random individuals as an outlet for frustrations.

I have a healthy respect for law enforcement here in the US. I believe the overwhelming majority are good people and feel the same about our citizens. I also can't wait for body cameras to be on all law enforcement, it will help both sides. Remember just before Christmas 2 NY police officers were ambushed in their police car and murdered execution style while sitting in their patrol car? No riots, no uproar that these men are dead. These stories fade out of the media quickly. This internet video about the person that was out beyond curfew, if he was a law abiding citizen there would not be a video.
