in other news, this is scary..
social media claims the baltimore police is saying "he is where he belongs" to calls for questions.

Aka Baltimore PD "kidnaps" (including using a humvee to hide the tactic from TV channels) a peaceful demonstrator and refuses to give information.

Social media also fears he might "appear" somewhere dead.. go figure.

You need to stop believing everything you read on social media. What sensationalism. He's in jail for not obeying the curfew.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Good news/bad news.

Auntie is coming home early. The lung infection from before Christmas has never really cleared up, and any exertion beyond sitting on a couch leaves her gasping for breath. Sadly, when you're a missionary in Tanzania, running a shelter for homeless boys, and feeding street children, there isn't too much time to sit on the couch.

Thankfully a donor just gave an unexpected $3000, and now the rent for the boys' home is covered for the next year. A local merchant just gave her 300,000 shillings; enough to build a couple of sets of bunk beds - so that will be four less boys sleeping on pallets on the floor.

She's coming home, but the infrastructure to keep things running is well established - a handful of local pastors with whom we have worked for more than 30 years. Another missionary couple is expected to go over sometime in the summer.

So, like I said good news - things will carry on, and Auntie will come home to receive proper medical attention.
Bad news - Auntie has to come home early to receive proper medical attention. And, I'm not sure her children will let her go back. Right now, she has no desire/will/strength to argue with them. May be a different story when she is recovered.

perhaps, because you see it from a point of view.
Have you been detained with no reason by police?
a lot of people have. perhaps it hasnt happened to you.

I can tell you that more than 80% of Mexicans do not trust their police force.
Specially now since 47 protesters were MURDERED by military and then the corpses given to narcs to destroy.
Worse was when our government officials tried to downplay it and lied so many times (the Argentinian CSIs disproved almost every thing my government said).

So excuse me if I do not see the same trust as you have.

I can definitely see why your view is more jaded. That is a sad state of affairs in your country.

Things up here are very different. Different even than our neighbours in the U.S.
Not necessarily better. Just different.

I am a US citizen and have very little faith in our police or justice system.

I'll keep my personal experiences to myself...but, I sympathize.

We have a systemic issue in the US that many don't understand or ignore. It's not nearly what is going on south of us, but it's endemic.

@donaldtoo is a happy guy! Smiles are always better than frowns. :cat: :) :joyfull:

(To the tune of the them from The D-ick Van D-yke Show)

So you think that you've got troubles?
Well, trouble's a bubble
So tell old Mr. Trouble to get lost!

Why not hold your head up high and
Stop cryin', start tryin'
And don't forget to keep your fingers crossed.

When you find the joy of livin'
Is lovin' and givin'
You'll be there when the winning dice are tossed.

A smile is just a frown that's turned upside down
So smile, and that frown will defrost.

And don't forget to keep your fingers crossed

Let's see if I got this right. You spend money like it grows on a tree in your back yard. You bail out your kids, your brothers, eat out more then Donald Trump, go the onsite Disney plan, are looking into buying an additional place in Florida, but, you won't pay for milk in a restaurant because it costs too much? Color me puzzled!
Maybe all the money she saves from not buying milk in restaurants allows her to do these things.

Nope, I do NOT like Continental. I flew them and they "lost" my luggage for two days. Then the night before flying home it arrived at my hotel. It had never been put on the plane and sat in the Continental unclaimed luggage office, even though I clearly had my contact info on my tag.
Yup I wouldn't like them either if I were you. Hopefully they gave some compensation?
