@donaldtoo -- what's up with Mecum changing channels?? I can't seem to get it on MotorTrend and looked on the Mecum web site. It appears as though they are now broadcasting (from 3-9, today, tomorrow and Saturday - Glendale) on ESPN+. :arghh: Need a subscription for that channel - UGH! I think I'm blocked out of watching my favorite fun auctions?!

Yea, yet another money grab. I’m not paying $11.99/per month just so I can watch an occasional auto auction…they can stuff it.

I just now looked a bit further on the Mecum site, and they mentioned a "live block" video on Youtube (free, so far) -- I just tried it and can watch the auction -- but I have to sit in front of the computer here (versus the TV in my livingroom). This is not optimal, but at least I can watch a bit of it today and tomorrow. Supposedly, it's on an (up to) 30 second delay, but that's o.k. Try and see if this works for you -- the "live block" is by each date, so here is today:

Yes, thank you, and I can get it on my TV actually. But, it seems a bit disjointed, the camera angles aren’t as good, and there are no commentators, so the only person I mostly hear is the auctioneer, which is only slightly less annoying than a livestock auction…!!!!! :hilarious: ;):)

At least we can hear Matt the Hat!! 🥰

What I do miss are the gentlemen that were on the MotorTrend announcers' desk -- those guys were wonderful. They had very interesting stats, history, etc.

(Yet, it's nice to listen clearly to the actual auctioneers -- as in the last few auctions, their voices were lowered in sound by the network.) But . . . still miss the MotorTrend announcers today.

I agree wholeheartedly, that another missing piece here is the full camera view of not just block, but the people attending, the other back rooms where they had some of the more "prize" vehicles, and the special on-site reporting of those.

The laughing emoji was for “The Hat”…!!! ;) :)
But, yes, it’s better than nothing…!!! :geek:

Winter will come back in December. Sadly, the days where we get snow storms in April are gone.
It can be sooner in Wisconsin. It has happen in October before although my area is rare for snow in October.
Yah, April tends to be more rain than snow, with some exceptions over the past few years. As for here, I think we're getting some snow flurries tomorrow, but that's it for a while. :(
Yep, I don't see snow happening in early April yet although is a chance on March 31st.

I know this is going to go over like a pay toilet in a diarrhea ward, but for some reason winter has just zoomed by. I didn't realize that spring arrived until I signed on to my computer this morning. I know I live in an area that isn't all that obvious, seasons wise. I just noticed this week that all the trees have budded and the flowering ones are in full bloom. I can accept that as a good thing.

@donaldtoo -- an update on the money grab. Below is the (Mecum company message 🤦‍♀️ ) for switching away from MotorTrend, to ESPN+. I disagree with it on a few levels, one of which is an almost disrespect for their loyal buyers who kept this auction going (regardless of age). The other is that I've seen (on the TV broadcasts) many younger people enjoying the auctions; it's not just one demographic there.) :banghead:

"We believe that the demographic on ESPN+ will broaden the base, so it won’t just be the older traditional car collectors."

Looks like a Win for TWDC to get ESPN to show Mecum. The show from the Kissimmee location about 20 min from WDW is a huge affair.

While the headline mentioned about him as a boxer, I think all of us know about him out of the ring in terms of being a spokesperson.

The entire family has used the George Foreman grill for burgers for a very long time and is a great product.

RIP to a legendary sports figure and a spokesperson.

Amazing George who named all his 5 boys George , retire from boxing , become a preacher for 10 years then go back into boxing in his 40s then later retire again. I used to use the George Foreman grill. It surely removed much of the artery clogging grease from the items I was grilling .

(To clarify, it's ESPN+ , not the regular ESPN channel.) Perhaps Mecum's move might bring in (some) new viewers, but it's far from their demo market on MotorTrend (and various other cable channels, they used previously).

As for Kissimmee, that auction has been held there yearly since 1999, and it's one of the largest. It's already so well known, that many are aware how close it is in proximity, to WDW.

Scanning through various message boards this morning, Mecum's switch over to ESPN+ has gone over like a wet blanket. If they put the auction on the original ESPN network, (which a number of people already have), it might not have been so bad. But for them to pick an $11.99 a month PAY subscription service -- just to watch a handful of auctions each year, infuriated folks -- myself included. Instead, the scuttle was that some folks are switching their viewing preferences over to the other mega auction company, Barrett Jackson, which broadcasts on more available channels.
