We have had a terrible car weekend. Dh realized one of his right front tires was flat when he got to the office. AAA put the spare on while he was working. Yesterday he took the car to Firestone because he wouldn’t have been able to get an appointment for his car until the end of this coming week. So they patched it at Firestone and we took a drive to the animal shelter because we are considering another cat. As we left the shelter the car was driving funny. He turned around and parked back at the shelter. Lo and behold the tire was flat. He put the spare back on. He called Firestone back and the guy told him he couldn’t help him because he was short staffed. Mind you this is only 2 hours later. Anyway we get home and he calls the dealership that is closed, but they have someone answering calls. She says to bring the car in first thing and it would get taken care of. So he does that and finds out the sidewall got ruined because he need to drive on it for 50 feet to get to the shelter. So we are in the hole for 4 new tires. He was technically going to change them in December so this would have happened anyway. Here is the crazy part, when we were driving home from another errand, turning onto a road that leads to our development there was a tree with a newly partially broken branch. It was hanging. Dh tried to avoid it but it caught the antenna. The antenna smacked the corner of the windshield and caused 2 cracks in the windshield. So now he needs a new windshield! There is a Safelight near us, so I make an appointment online. They cannot fix it til Monday. So he will take my car to work Monday. In any case these unforeseen car issues cost us over $1000 in 24 hours. Just what we needed 2weeks out from vacation. When it rains it pours.

Oh my. Sympathy like.
I’ve had the sidewall thing happen before, once. The tire wasn’t completely flat, but, I noticed the car was handling funny, and pulled over. It was wayyy low. I jacked it up and slapped the spare on. When I took it to the tire place they said they could patch the tire, but, they would not assume liability for the integrity of the sidewall, so wouldn’t patch it. I needed a new tire. No I didn’t. I found a used tire at another shop for way less with about the same treadwear as the other tires on my car.
As far as the cracked windshield goes, those are annoying, but, I’ve also driven one of my many “beaters” with a cracked windshield for several years...!!!!! :hilarious:
But, that’s just me, and I also understand the desire to make things cosmetically right on a vehicle...!!! :)

Aww what happened?

T is in a soccer tourney this weekend, with his school team, not his club. They won their game yesterday. Lost by 1 at their 7:30am game.. he was disappointed, but said “we’re not out yet” afterwards.. we went to brunch then back to the field for 12 pm game.

We were winning 2-1 the 1st half..then ended up losing 9-2 by the final whistle. T did score one of the goals and had an assist on the other.

A couple of things, T has only practiced with the team once. (He’ll only be able to attend one per week due to conflicts with his academy) The rest of the team has only practiced twice. That’s it. A few boys are doing their first year of soccer, made the switch from football. T and 3 other boys are on club teams.. this is their first year back in SAY in 2 years, a lot of soccer inbetween. The rules are different in SAY.. quarters instead of halves.. no offsides unless you’rs in the box.. This does throw off the game a bit to kids who are used to select, at least in the first week.

So anyway, I could see that T was dripping in sweat and aggravated near the end of the game (I think he sat out a total of 5 minutes for a water break). There was a ball that came semi near him, and usually he would have sprinted and jumped to stop it and beat the opposing player. He didn’t this time. He was close to me and I said “T, you have to run over and beat him!” He looked at me and said “Please be quiet!”

Final whistle blows, they shake hands, have a meeting with the coach, then come to the parents. I said “Good game, T” and tried to give him a high five.. he didn’t high five, and said, loudly, “What game were you watching, mom?! That was NOT a good game. Leave me alone.” and stormed off in front of me.
I walk up to him and say “Calm down, its just a pre season tourney. Your team has only had 1 or 2 practices”, I can see that he’s crying and doesn’t want to show it.. he looks at me and in such a mean voice says “Just BE QUIET.”
Refused to talk to me in the car, with the exception of asking if we were still going for ice cream in a horrible attitude voice.. I said no, due to his attitude.

Came home and he threw his soccer bag down and stormed off to his room. I told him to change and calm down and come out when he’s ready to act nice again.

He came out 15-20 minutes later and was back to his normal self., we played frisbee, ordered Thai food for dinner.. and now has been playing with neighborhood kids.

I just hate that he gets that upset over a stupid game!

Sorry this post ended up so long.

We have a $500 deductible. The window with the service charge came to just under $400. The tires with the alignment cane to under $700. Dh complained to Firestone because they did a terrible repair and because of that the sidewall got destroyed and thus an unrepairable tire. Firestone isn’t going to say, “We will cover your tires. “ He was technically going to get new tires later in the year. The dealership always offers buy 3 get 1 free. What’s weird is my Suburban got new tires the end of April. Those tires are bigger than on dh’s Toyota. The fee for the tires on the Suburban cost less, and the mileage was greater. I got Goodyear tires which were the tires it originally came with. Apparently cause his is a Toyota they don’t put that brand of tire? And the ones they use cost more. :banghead:

Hmmmmm...
Somethin’ smells fishey to me there... :cyclops:

This is what T has been doing since dinner.. totally back to normal. Ended up being a good day after all.

These kids were cracking me up..

I’m on the deck and hear something drop on the driveway.. walk down there and see this-
😂

They made a ramp and put tape down, 1 to “jump to” and the other for a hard turn, with their scooters.

Then when grew tired of that they decided to ride bikes down a grass hill in the back yard..

Then, asked for Amazon boxes..(yes, I broke down and recently ordered a few things for back to school)... Wanted to “surf” down the hill, were bored with the bikes.,
took a few tries..lol..another neighbor showed up and joined in..I did make T change shirts at this point 🤣

....Then she schooled them on the bar ❤

Now they’re with 2 more kids at a tire swing at one of their houses. Curfew is 9. I think T will sleep well tonight!

I'm sure you know, but just in case you don't there is no reason to buy the same brand of tire that is original equipment. Cars to day are built with tires that are a very cheap. None of them last as long as an after market tire. Toyota has been quite often named as one of those that have the ones that have problems and wear out quickly. I would never buy the same tire as the ones that they put on as original. If he had gotten Goodyear for the replacement tire it would have been much less expensive probably. I can't speak for quality, but, always shop around for tires. Many have good prices and never, never, never buy them from the dealer.

Keep your fingers crossed that the smoke detector doesn’t go off tonight in our hotel room! It has gone off the last two mornings at exactly 3:43 am!🤬 We have called both times to front desk. One person said the fire alarm company picks random rooms for monthly checks. One said she never heard of monthly checks. What??

“What?” is right.
Never heard of anything like that before... :cyclops:
Fingers crossed, indeed...!!! 🤞

Yes, in a previous post I already talked about buying used tires a few times...maybe I forgot to mention they didn’t match? Anyway, yes, it appears we’re on the same page...!!! :)

Monthly checks are probably carried out, but, not in the middle of the night and in a room that is occupied. I think that gets caulked up to a quick answer that you were given by two separate people that didn't have a clue about what happened.

Me as my parents are texting their flight info to my uncle for when he picks them up for their flight.
Me: "Usually I just take a screenshot of my info and send that to him."
Dad: "What?"
Completely confused. He's writing it down on a piece of paper to hand to my uncle. 😂
I laugh given his lost list of
Outfits last
Trip.
