Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Yes please! Brad just told me today that he is going to have to go to Chicago in about a month for a church thing and the first thing I said was "great you can bring home some Lou's and Garrett's!"

We had a lovely time. The food was awesome as was the atmosphere. We went to the Elk Grove venue. Very laid back and charming.

@donaldtoo , I know you work with CAD programs. I have zero experience. Today, I took a 3D workshop (offered by my public library, for free). The man used TinderCad or something like that. My brain doesn't really function in computer things as it is (with the exception of basic things like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), but I worked a little bit with his program, (just using the preloaded shapes, etc.).

Anyway, the man was going to print out the various designs that people made, and maybe I didn't save it in certain way, as the file was supposed to come to our home email, but it didn't). So I guess I can't forward it to him to print after hours (he had a few classes today, so was going to print the things later). Oh well.

Just listening to him was interesting as he was a whizz with all this technology. I thought about people who use CAD type programs -- it's a whole different type of skill, and some people adapt to it better than others, I guess. I can see how it's really important for architects and engineers. :)
My ds uses a program called Blender for his 3D designing and other media type work. I am amazed with what he has done especially because he is mostly self taught.
PS. Good for you for trying to tackle something new.

We have had a terrible car weekend. Dh realized one of his right front tires was flat when he got to the office. AAA put the spare on while he was working. Yesterday he took the car to Firestone because he wouldn’t have been able to get an appointment for his car until the end of this coming week. So they patched it at Firestone and we took a drive to the animal shelter because we are considering another cat. As we left the shelter the car was driving funny. He turned around and parked back at the shelter. Lo and behold the tire was flat. He put the spare back on. He called Firestone back and the guy told him he couldn’t help him because he was short staffed. Mind you this is only 2 hours later. Anyway we get home and he calls the dealership that is closed, but they have someone answering calls. She says to bring the car in first thing and it would get taken care of. So he does that and finds out the sidewall got ruined because he need to drive on it for 50 feet to get to the shelter. So we are in the hole for 4 new tires. He was technically going to change them in December so this would have happened anyway. Here is the crazy part, when we were driving home from another errand, turning onto a road that leads to our development there was a tree with a newly partially broken branch. It was hanging. Dh tried to avoid it but it caught the antenna. The antenna smacked the corner of the windshield and caused 2 cracks in the windshield. So now he needs a new windshield! There is a Safelight near us, so I make an appointment online. They cannot fix it til Monday. So he will take my car to work Monday. In any case these unforeseen car issues cost us over $1000 in 24 hours. Just what we needed 2weeks out from vacation. When it rains it pours.

As I read this, I kept thinking that (at the end of your comments), you were going to say that you had a nightmare and just woke up -- and whew, and all was well. :( Ugh! Cars are such a nuisance and so expensive for any sort of repairs, etc. Sorry to hear about this.

Sympathy like and we had a window problem covered 100% by our insurance, I hope yours does the same for you. Good luck my friend
We have a $500 deductible. The window with the service charge came to just under $400. The tires with the alignment cane to under $700. Dh complained to Firestone because they did a terrible repair and because of that the sidewall got destroyed and thus an unrepairable tire. Firestone isn’t going to say, “We will cover your tires. “ He was technically going to get new tires later in the year. The dealership always offers buy 3 get 1 free. What’s weird is my Suburban got new tires the end of April. Those tires are bigger than on dh’s Toyota. The fee for the tires on the Suburban cost less, and the mileage was greater. I got Goodyear tires which were the tires it originally came with. Apparently cause his is a Toyota they don’t put that brand of tire? And the ones they use cost more. :banghead:

Thanks. I just wanted to try it as I was clueless about 3D printing, etc. We had about 45 minutes to try the program which is not nearly enough time for me. A few people did fairly well, though. Again, I think it's whatever side of your brain "connects" with these type of computer concepts, determines how well you can do. Anyway, I'm happy I went to check it out.

Last week I also signed up for (free) art classes at our library. The first was last Friday. The teacher was awesome (professional artist and professional photographer -- had a gig years ago at the White House for photography). He's taught art classes at universities, etc. He's in his late 60s now and volunteers his time to teach. We started with charcoal, drawing a face. Mine looked funny (not my intention) and everyone laughed, including me! :hilarious: (It was the face of a man, and he looked like he was constipated or something. :p ) For the next 4 sessions, he's going to introduce various artistic methods to us, and we will be able to try those. :)

Nothing angers me more then the idea that the tire companies have sponsored that you have to have matching tires on the car.🤬 The only thing that has to match is the size. One tire is just the same as the others even if they have different names on the side. It doesn't matter.

As long as you were going to change them in December anyway, I can understand the reason for four replacements, but, so many times I have heard said. Oh, I have a tire that needs replacing due to sidewall damage, so I have to change them all. You do not. You can replace one or you can replace two, three or four, it will not make any difference to the handling or safety of the vehicle. I had that run around one time when I was coming back from Florida. I was still in Florida on I-95 when I had a tire blow out. I went to Costco which was close by and they practically insisted that I do all four tires in spite of the fact that the remaining tires were practically new. I refused! Ending of the story, that single odd tire remained on the car until I traded it in a year later. Many people want to change them because of vanity and wanting to have them all look the same, tread design wise, but it isn't necessary for operating a vehicle.

End of rant. Carry on with your regularly scheduled programs.

Even better: I just head over to any number of places on Dixie Highway where they’ll slap a decent used tire on for $30-$35. And on my merry way, mismatched and all.

My kid is a sore loser.

As in snapping at me and storming off kinda sore.
He lost a promised ice cream because of it. This needs to stop. I won’t tolerate it.
We just got home, now he’s continuing the pouting in his room.

He's a kid. He'll eventually make amends. Not much choice -- otherwise, he'd give up ice cream for the long term, and no kid will do that! ;)
