I was probably about 8 when my parents took the family to the airport, so that we could gawk at the planes. It was so much fun back then. There was an outdoor observation deck, and you'd just walk over to the door from inside the terminal, open it, and go outside to watch the planes. (No security check, no alarm going off . . . ;)).

Cool memories, Minnie...!!! :)
There wasn’t one of those at our old airport, but, if there was, I’m sure I would have been a permanent fixture there...!!!!! 🛫🛬🤪:hilarious::happy:;):)

The temperatures were around 95-97. The heat index was of course over 100.

Still pretty toasty, but, not too bad, fortunately...again, comin’ from someone who’s used to way hotter temps this time of year...!!! ;)

So, on that note, check out our current weather... :cyclops:

Normally, this time of year, at this time of day, temps would still be in the high 90’s if not low 100’s...and that’s static air temp, not feels like...what the heck’s goin’ on with our summer this year...?!?!?!
Jimminy Cricket’s, It’s almost August...???!!!!!!! :eek:o_O:oops::hilarious:

I can tell you that it has been cooler than usually at times in the part of Wisconsin I'm from before the mini heat wave hit for the thunderstorm cooled down the weather.

The weather is nice right now and hopefully it stays for the Wisconsin State Fair. The state Fair is big event for the state. The State Fair is going to start August 1st and ends August 11th.

Hope the weather is favorable for the fair...!!! :)

The State Fair of Texas is a pretty big deal here, as well (they fry everything there...I think you can even get fried lard...!!!!!!! :hilarious:).
The dates for it this year are Sept. 27th-Oct. 20th (my b-day)...!!! :)

I believe the older millennial aren't as bad as the younger ones, I'm guessing your kids are older. My husbands kids are millennial and boy are they pieces of work. My husband only got to raise them part time in their informative years. Trying to instill hard work in them was impossible with screens in their face all the time. I actually remember one weekend I made them go outside, and they didn't know what to do with themselves, they sat on the stoop and whined.

But you are right.... lumping them in one category isn't exactly correct either.

I remind my husband all the time, that our parents thought we were idiots too, and I think we are pretty ok.

Had to Google, but, according to this, our kiddos would actually be younger Millennials, as they were born in ‘91, ‘92, and ‘94...

Sorry to hear that about your hubs kiddos.
And yep, as I’ve posted before, every generation thinks the next one is gonna’ send the world to hell in a flamin’ handbasket soaked in the fuel of the time, but, after eons, it still hasn’t happened...yet...!!!!! :hilarious:;):)

What happened at your work was nothing compare to my dad's early days at the utility company he use to work at. I was not alive at the time it happened, but my dad told me that the company allowed drinking on the job for every position in the company including those who work with electricity:jawdrop:.

This happened in the 1970s before they ended that policy. What I know is I was told some of the people actually worked better with electricity after drinking than they did without alcohol.

The company decided to change their policy and no one was allowed anyone to drink on the job.
Yeah, we're only allowed to drink when the company provides it, like at team building exercises after work and on days that they have the beer carts. I guess they figure one beer (or in my case "refresher" because I don't like beer) won't impeed anyone from working (you're only allowed one). So you can't go out to lunch and get drinks, but you can have it on beer cart days. And of course, the beer cart thing is only for office workers; those in the warehouses don't get it. They get the other events, though, like ice cream days and the snowball truck day.

I think people are starting to realize that it's not that they don't want to work, it's that they don't want to work the same way we do. Which makes sense because technology has changed everything. For example though, we have flex schedules at work, so everyone can choose their own 40 hours as long as their boss agrees to it. Almost everyone older than a millennial works a straight shift. My in between generation works a lot of AWE, which is work from home. So we'll work four days in the office, and one day at home. But the young ones, they get creative. They work from coffee shops or other cities sometimes even.

Which is neat to see because we've been able to reduce our necessary desk space by almost 50% in some areas because when they do come in the office they can share transient desks.

They work. They just work differently.

Fair enough, and I get that, but, there is no way I could do what I do for a living from out of a coffee shop, or another city for that matter, and still earn a full-time living. And, there are still plenty of other careers out there that require full-time on-site presence, and will for the foreseeable future.
Think about everyone from people that do your hair, to someone who repairs a blown electrical transformer, and TONS of things in between and around.

I don’t know, those bug tacos sounded good. 🤢🤢
I'll pass on them for two reasons though. I'm not a bug eating person and tacos gives me stomach problems. I've used stuff for my stomach and Tacos still gave me a stomach ache:(. The last time I had tacos was in the late 1990s. My stomach always been touchy in some types of food even before having acid reflex disease.

I'm the same one who only can eat Bananas when they are baked such as banana bread, and banana muffins. My stomach can't handle bananas when they are not baked.

What I do for eating is use common sense for what I eat and in some case limit my self.

For me, the Grasshopper slushie on a stick is a turn off. I do see some good new stuff like Deep Fried Banana bread bites, and plenty of other stuff.

The good news is I am not limited as last year for food for the fair. What happened was I was recovering from hemorrhoids and went less to the fair less than a week from getting them.

that water.. looks.. brown? D:
. Bluck. Poor cast member.
That is in line with the old Drew Carey attraction that has a large restroom facility just next to it for that area. For decades it is the only restroom I refused to use ever for 2 decades be cause those women’s room toilets frequently erupt into geysers like the Wilderness lodge. Don’t care how badly or urgently needed.

So is today the day that the plumbing finally said I’M DONE!!!!

Well, that's good news that you can enjoy a few more selections at this year's Fair. :) Enjoy!

Forgot to mention that we all had to get dressed up for the airport visit. (No one dressed casually at the airport back then.) I remember my father making a big deal about this experience, and all of us kids had to be on best behavior. (Reading my above comments now, I'm surprised I had any fun at all! :hilarious: ) Just kidding. ;) Back then I just sort of rolled with whatever rules were in place, and always had a fun time! :D

Just because we can't think of a way to do it, doesn't mean they can't.

I might have asked this question before, but speaking of restrooms, why in the pluperfect hell is it that men are unable to flush a toilet. I would bet that 85% of the time that I go into a mens room the toilets have not been flushed. No matter what is in them. Even if they think that the thing is going to flush itself, by the time one leaves the stall, it either has or it hasn't. Dammit... if it hasn't, flush it. Your mommy is not coming in to clean up after you.

OK, morning vent is over. Lets go on with a few less yucky things. Grow up guys!

Don't a lot of y'all's restrooms have an automated flush system. I seem to remember it scaring the bejebus out of me on my first holiday .

It may dishearten you to learn that women are the same way....
