Weren't you supposed to be going on a cruise or something? Or you booked a resort at a beach somewhere, right? Did that fall through?

For the first time in my life I’m scared of a destination. I cancelled our DR trip earlier this week after another American death was announced. I’ve changed or cancelled vacations before... but never cancelled this last minute!!! We were supposed to leave in the 22!!! I was sooo looking forward to this trip.

Delta is giving me 6 months to use my tickets. I originally thought of just going to a different destination on these same dates, but I’m really hoping that the FBI gets to the bottom of this soon, and that I will feel safe to return.
Level 2 travel warnings usually don’t worry me, but the crime combined with dropping dead after a drink, I just don’t want to be worried the entire stay.

I had been considering DR for the last couple of years, but all these American deaths there and in Mexico have me worried. My go to is Jamaica, but even that is at level 2 right now. Mostly in Kingston though... which isn't really a touristy place.

Yeah honestly level 2 doesn’t worry me often because it’s usually very specific areas. We were staying in a 5 star resort, taking a few excursions, but I still felt safe with the crime.
What scares me is the several unexplained sickness and sudden death at super nice resorts! When I found out about the Hard Rock it was the last straw.. I called to cancel in the afternoon, and was told they had several cancellations that morning.

ETA For clarification - we were not staying at the Hard Rock, but that resort being added to the list of other resorts means that it’s a much larger problem than I originally thought. Apparently whatever is in the drinks can happen anywhere. Hoping it gets sorted soon. I’m sure it’s hurting tourism at this point.

A friend of mine sent me an article yesterday, to make me feel better about my decision. “The Points Guy” is recommending to rethink the DR and book elsewhere, that makes me feel better in knowing I’m not just a chicken. ;)

It sucks, but really smart. Better safe than sorry... but you should start planning your next trip asap to beat the blues of having to cancel this one.

I don't mind an organized closet. But a list because you need to know what goes with what....OCD much? And he was nagging my mom about the list. I told him 1. I didn't know where it was and 2. He's ridiculous.

My mom called me last night to complain about my father and his anxiety. 😂 I think it will be better once I'm there with them. This whole flying 5,000 miles alone thing is throwing him I think.

Plus, he's anxious because a credit card statement didn't come on time, and he had to have me look for it and pay it. We go through this every time they go on vacation. It would be easily solved if he paid online. But will he do it? Nope.
Or if it is a bank credit card just go to a teller and pay it before you leave town. I seem to remember him being neurotic about you flying to Disneyland with a friend one time too. He just seems to be the type who has a mind that is always thinking. Chilling must be hard for him. I do find it funny he obsesses about outfits.

Be funny if the list is in his wallet or carry on since nobody has tripped across it. For the fun of it suggest he take a photo with his camera so he has a backup and that way he could also review his outfits anytime he wants to. 👍🏾

Hubby actually keeps my closet organized now too as he does all the laundry and puts it all away. I do like 3 maybe 4 loads a year. Although I did originally arrange it that way. 😀
I remember him being in charge of laundry back when he broke his leg.

Me the road I never went down was mowing the lawn. Then again I never gave instructions on how he was to mow the lawn either like my girlfriends OCD hubby. Id likely would have said nothing but hung up the bundle of fresh dry cleaning in the shirt closet and let him organize it until his heart was content. Thinking my friend well he would have become a little less nitpicky.

Yeah. He probably could benefit from antianxiety medication. Given that his mother, his sister, his daughter, and his son are all on medication, not sure why he thinks he doesn't need it. He was more neurotic about me driving in California than flying. Me driving for some reason makes him nervous. Of course his driving is starting to make me nervous, so there's that. Flying to CA was Southwest, I'd been to LAX, and my friend was with me. His biggest issue was the driving and the fact that it wasn't his idea.

He hasn't really been nervous when I've flown to Orlando or Charleston. He knows I can do it. I just think the fact that I'm not flying out of BWI and that I'm not flying Southwest or Delta (United this time) is throwing him. I don't think he's consciously worrying; more unconsciously. The benefit is that Mom was talking about having me find my own transportation to and from the airport in Hawaii, and he was like, nah, we'll take her.

The problem with the taking pictures thing would be he literally uses his phone for making calls and nothing else. He also can't take a picture. Back when digital cameras were first a thing, he bought one. He never used it; I took all of the pictures.
