For our district, if it wasn't until May, I would rather skip it, and shave off a week. After all of the added snow days, last day is June 6. And that is a half day, so my last day is the 5th.
In my NJ school district, we had a week off in November...so our last day of school after snow closings are made up is.......

June 24th

Our student's last day is June 5th. As staff our last day is June 10th and I thought that was bad, but June 24th! YIKES!!!

I only get paid for 10 months. I have no income in July and August. In June We receive our last pay on the final day of school. Then the next pay is not until Sept. 10th.
I think it helps our family finances that I work later in June and thus get a final paycheck closer to the end of the month. There is still many many weeks before I report to school. More than enough time to lounge around or travel😊

You guys get around to lots of fun places. Hey, knock it off, will yah! :hilarious: :p

(P.S.: Have a great weekend, and hopefully the weather will also cooperate.) I like beaches in the spring before the summer crowds come, because you can take nice long strolls near the ocean, and it's really nice.
We are always on the go!😉 Thank you!! You as well. I only like the beach during the fall and spring too.

That's interesting that they pay you on the 30th instead of the last day of school. I would take a guess that you get paid on the 30th in April and May also? A regularly scheduled thing?

We get paid on the 15th and 30th of every month (except July & August). Our checks are actually rated for 12 months of pay and on June 30 we get deposits that would be for July and August checks. Our insurance plans also start/end on June 30th.

Youngest DD has it set up at her school so is paid through the summer, as well.
We get paid bi-weekly at the firm, so 26 paychecks a year. And our insurance plans start/end November 30th.

Sorry about your bil losing his job. I hope he will find one soon, but if he does he probably would not get vacation time with a new job. Don't stress yourself about it though. Just focus on you and your direct family enjoying a vacation that you have been planning for about 2 years. Remember, if your brother wants, it is easy for him to take a trip to WDW when finances improve, but it is not easy for you. Make sure you plan so that you and your family have a time to remember. You don't know when you will be back.

By the way, are you going to use Touring Plans to make up a plan for Uni. I am trying to figure that one out right now. We don't know the park at all and will be there for 4 days, so I am think that if we at least have a plan, we will be less stressed. I can already hear the arguing especially if it is hot.

This is just another reason why we’re not too keen on doin’ another Disney vacation until Emy is older. Along with things like the cost, FPs, ADRs, the crowds, etc., it all just sounds like a big giant cluster of a stressfest. o_O;)
For now, just put my big ol’ beeeeeeehind on a cruise ship 🚢 for a week with a few ports of call and a few excursions, and I’m as happy as a damn clam...!!!!!!! :D:joyfull::happy:;):)

TEXAS HEAT
Wed, 10/29/2014 - 09:03 -- Dannyplane21
The heat in Texas is like no other.
You feel desperate to cool off this heat,
And you intend to but you don’t bother.
Instead you call your buds and cook some meat.
That is the awesome Texan way of life.
Enjoy your life and enjoy it real Good.
Just take out your new fork, spoon, and knife,
And call them close friends up to eat some food.
This is what the good ol’ Texan heat does,
It unites all the people in for some fun.
Only As long as you are not the buzz,
Just come on in and don’t touch the sun.
If you are not in the mood for a treat,
You can just go to the exciting beach.
You just need your good umbrella and seat.
The sea is not that difficult to reach.
So whenever you have time on your hands,
Pop right in that latest edition truck,
And head toward those good looking white sands.
You can do anything with a nice buck.
But make sure you look at all your missions,
So do not just rely on all your visions.
We all know the heat can be so vicious,
But man it can truly be delicious. ;):D;)

They really need to get rid of that Teacher's Convention week. One of my sil's is a teacher in NJ and she never attends the convention.
And it is costly. I know what our National convention for school board cost and that was for 7 people.

Bring my boys, they won't give you time to think about getting tired;)

I'm trying to think if I ever have made it 'till close of Halloween or Christmas Party in the past 5 years. Possibly this past Christmas 'cause I don't know how I would have gotten back to Bonnet Creek Hilton on my own. The kids always loaded it into the Uber for me, I was in charge of the basket. The last year we did 2 Halloween parties, one at the beginning of our long trip and one towards the end. I know the 2nd one I went back to POR via bus, stopped at the lounge for a Whiskey Sour and sat by the pool, relaxed and watched the cats running around.
