I think I know with the cold. My mom lived up in a part of Wisconsin my mom called up north. You are dealing potential of over 20 some below degrees.

My mom loved winter up north for sledding and Ice skating despite having to walk around 2 miles to school back when she was growing up.

My mom lived not in the same part of Wisconsin as ajrwdgirl though. The closest big city near the places my mom lived was Appleton, but they were all north or northwest of Appleton from a pretty good distance.

I didn't remember going up north that cold in winter although I did go in December and February. I stayed away from Door County at that time of the year although I'm sure it has activities you would be interested in such as a Winter Festival.

For me, up north going up north growing up during the winter time was Appleton and even north that. My mom's friends and relatives are from up north.

Got a sad email today, I had research dinner places in IL for this weekend and reserved one for us at a place called, "The Finery & Blacksmith bar". The menu looked great and it had good reviews. However, open table wrote me an email saying our reservation was cancelled because the restaurant is closing. So back to the drawing board... now we are going to an interesting looking Scottish restaurant (never been to one of those before!) that looks like it has an amazing menu. It's called Balmoral restaurant if anyone is interested in looking at the menu.

Finished puttinā€™ in a new thermostat for our AC/Heater a little while ago, and then finished my leftovers from Serranos last night...!!!!! :hungry::)
Woke up this morninā€™ and the house was a bit warm. Turned on the AC a few times, it would run for about 30 seconds and then go off. Folks had the same thing happen a while back, so I took s chance and ran up to Loweā€™s for a replacement, and now the house has cooled off...score...!!! :)

@donaldtoo , keep an eye on the weather down there. I was watching the national news a while ago and they were reporting some big storms though Texas -- rain, wind (some tornado watches) and hail. They showed from Austin and north in a big area in that weather report..

Thanks for your concern, Minnie!!! :)
But, so far, itā€™s mostly spankinā€™ the Midwest...
6:45p and 9:24, respectively...

Stay safe up there, gang...!!!

Ampleā€™s Creamery ice cream has the best quality ice cream on property IMO. Understand why Iger himself ushered that company onto the Boardwalk. And it is cute. The quips on the wall in frames keep you occupied and a lot of work went into the long mural behind the ice cream

No
How funny. I have no regrets with us going TSA precheck. Worth every penny.
Yeah. The only bad part is that we have to go to Rockville (near the VA line) to have it done because the two locations that are open Saturdays are that one and DC, and there's no locations near work for me, school for my brother. Dad's getting it done in Annapolis when he goes down there for court/appointments one day, but it's not as easy for the rest of us.

Also, Mom has to bring her marriage certificate to prove that's actually her name. Never mind that she hasn't used her maiden name in 33 years....in other news, I'm sticking with my maiden name. šŸ˜‚

I love the food pictures. Reminds me of when my kids did that. I always got a kick of their tiny tongues trying to lick up the bowl. And...the shove blankets, etc. in the swing so the kid doesn't fall out.:hilarious:

Thank you!!! :)
Even though it was a bit longer ago for us, I remember those days, as well!!!
Never heard of those blankets when our kiddos were younger...we just hooked a couplaā€™ bungee cords over their shoulders...!!!!! :D:hilarious:;):)

Yes I had to bring my marriage certificate to demonstrate my legal name change. Wasnā€™t hard. Finding my birth certificate wasnā€™t fun.

But has made security easier and given the slower TSA now again happening in MCO worth every penny. Even if it takes an hour to drive to Staples Store their hours are 9 to 9 and have Saturday hours. You can do all 3 of ya at same time. It is good for 5 years. MCO was our motivation.

Much, much better! I love POR.:inlove:

I love it too. Just harder to go from the Deluxe rooms and amenities of Swan Dolphin to POR. But it is difficult to compare apple and oranges. Still better than coming home.

While I love them both Iā€™d book Swan Dolphin every time Over POR for the price we got that was less than Pop plus you get a AAA a 20% discount off all food including QS. We would have tacked on two days however massive conventions were arriving we saw the influx when checking out. One was a huge Best Buy and their families. For 2 days we could have rebooked a week due to being almost at capacity at last minute

At night the palms change color and The synchronized music plays to the changing colors. So much fun. Reminded me of Osborne lights when I saw them last time.

The beds were superior to POR but the sq ft in the rooms was a better design and much larger. Storage better too

Last fall we stayed at POR for our 2 week trip in Magnolia mansion in refurb rooms We were happy to get it again. I was surprised that it was not refurbished. But truth be told I like carpeting in bedrooms.

Has anyone tried the "dark theme" yet? (re: up in the Forum Help section, there is a thread about this. Steve mentioned a test thing that you can try, to see if you like it, over the present lighter mode.) I don't want to try the new test thingie, because I probably wouldn't be able to figure out how to get it back to the "regular" view we have now! :hilarious:

@Mr Ferret 88 or @Cesar R M , or @StarWarsGirl, have any of you tried it?
