Yep, no problem, and I read the whole article (as well as have read about it many times over the years since my youth), but, ultimately, those rail guns were just pretty...

Plus, Paris was never strategically bombed by the Germans during WWI, or WWII. Mostly because there were no viable strategic bombers produced by any country during WWI...they were mostly just droppin’ bombs at will out of small bi/triplane cockpits hoping they would explode...!!!!!
WWII, a different story. Germany began tactical and strategic bombing in full-blown warefare when they invaded Poland (The Blitzkrieg, September 1, 1939) and began bombing troops and Warsaw with JU-87 Stuka’s, etc.
The only other strategic bombing campaigns that the Nazis ever undertook where the Battle of Britain, and the bombings of Russian cities after Hitler turned on them.
They never had anything in actual full production beyond JU-88, or HE-111 twin engine medium range bombers during WWII.
There were prototypes of a “New York City Bomber” Nazi bomber built, but, that’s as far as it got. They never went anywhere.
On the other hand, between the British flying night missions, and our 8th Airforce flying day missions, we pounded the living cheese outta’ the enemy. We had no choice, the war had to end on our terms in Europe, and as well in the pacific.
Thus, ultimate weapon stuff. The buck stopped. He took full responsibility.
Massive death and destruction. War over.
Has it happened since...?
