Oh yes there are, and they happen more often a day or two after tax day, so they can try to scare someone that they needed to pay up on their taxes, which were overdue. (Just heard that on the news tonight.)
That’s awful.

Speaking of taxes, I owe Federal tax for the first time ever. Usually I get a refund of at least $1,500. This year I owed $360. I won’t get into the politics of this here but we all know why this happened.

Anyway, I know, it’s not that much, but I was seething when I entered my bank info into the tax program I was using so the IRS could suck it right out. And suck it right out they did. It was gone the next day. Meanwhile, if you get a refund, they take their own sweet time.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I feel your pain for having to owe taxes. The first year I got married and since we owed money to Federal but always got a small state refund. It was quite a shock that first year when I had banking on about $1500 or more as a refund. This year was the first time we got a substantial federal refund, we actually weren't planning on getting one. We aren't going to bank on one next year but I hope we do.

It must be going both ways this year, because we are getting the biggest refund we've ever gotten this year.

That stinks. I've always gotten refunds. This year, it was lower. Never quite that $1500 refund you were talking about. But more money is more money.

Ours is elevated actually. It is a planting bed that is about 8 feet by 12 feet. The people we bought the house from built it. My guess is they built it probable because our soil is crummy and it doesn’t take much to dig down amd hit limestone. We were told that when developers build homes, they remove all the topsoil and then sell it.

We have the same situation here, but, it is Mother Nature, not a builder cutting the topsoil and selling it. My folks always have wonderful gardens!
We have 4 big dogs and one small one buried in our backyard. I buried ‘em all, and digging through the limestone with a pickaxe, breaker bar, and shovel ain’t happenin’ anymore...Lord rest their souls...! ;)
I can’t even remember exactly where they’re all exactly buried anymore, although it’s across the chain link portion of the yard with the woodshed about 4 ft. off the sideyard fence...but, where in line from the back fence...not willing to chance passed pup roulette anymore...and, if someone ever wants to put a pool in after we’re long gone...!!!!!!! :cautious::hilarious::D;)

Glad to hear this from a technical person like yourself. I think too many people assume they have to upgrade all the time. What bothers me is all the waste (and I'm not just talking about phones, specifically). When I was growing up, my parents and grandparents would hardly ever throw out something that could be repaired or repurposed. Getting anything "new" was a big deal to our family.

Yep, both sets of my grandparents lived through the Great Depression. They ate every part of the animals they raised, hunted, or fished for, and repaired or repurposed everything they possibly could.
Both of my folks did same to a very large degree when they were raising us...from coffee cans being used to store nails, etc., to us using used whipped cream containers as cereal bowls. Why not?
My pop has been retired for years, and my folks still have not a financial worry in the world...!!!!!
