I'm over 40, and I don't care for avocados or guacamole!
I used to live by the rule that food shouldn't be green unless it is a leafy looking thing. I like Guacamole and eat it at restaurants, but, I have never bought one at the supermarket. I like them, but, not enough to spend that much for a single fruit. The only ones I have seen in this area I don't know if the local ones are from Mexico or California, I know one is smaller then the other, but, I don't know which is which. Either way Mexico or California they are still to expensive so I pass them by with no regret.

How spoiled we Americans have become. As a product of the 50's I can remember we only ate what was in season and grown in this country. Now we expect to get grapes, apples, avocados, you name it every month of the year-- imported from the 4 corners of the globe.

It’s not even remotely close to nearly that bad.
Thousands of cruises are taken every year, but, the media obviously only reports on the ones that go awry in some way.
Some make it sound like every few cruises are stricken by some mini disaster.
Speaking of Petri dishes, what about that flying metal tube of a Petri dish called an airplane that so many of us (y’all excluded ;)) hurtle through the sky in to WDW, and sooo many other places...?! :cyclops:
I’ve also read sooo many trip reports here over the years of people getting sick at WDW. What about that...?!?!?! :bored:
Y’all already know our newfound love of cruising to the point that we’ll be taking our 3rd one this coming October...!!!!!
I have to agree with all of that. Most people have to fly in a plane to get to a cruise. That is more likely where the infection started. It is laughable to call a ship that is about the size of a city block, a petri dish. It is mostly open air with constant sea breezes. Planes are a lot of recirculated air, but, even then if it were pure recirculated air everyone on the plane would die of carbon monoxide poisoning.

I have taken a number of cruises, the last one about three years ago that was a 14 day trans-Atlantic cruise. I knew of no one that got sick and I know I didn't. I have never gotten sick after or during a cruise, flight or WDW. A ship in particular is cleaned constantly. At Disney it is more what you touch and transfer then anything else. I guess some of us have a stronger immune system then others. (not meant as a put down, just a fact.)

Not a fact, just a guess, is that the over use of antibiotic chemicals might be to blame for that. Personally I have never bought any antibiotic anything except hand soap, which I use in the bathroom and kitchen. On my month long trip to Europe three years ago my sister gave me a small travel bottle of hand sanitizer. It is still sitting, unused, in my travel bag. And on that trip we rode subways so packed that you almost had to be married to stand that close, yet nothing. At any rate, I refuse to live my life afraid of every possibility. I, especially now, am conscious of the fragility of life, but, I will continue to live as long as I can in non-scared mode and let my immune system do its job like it was designed to do.

Something felt off this morning, I have a fever but at least most of my must do list is done. Other than feeling hot and a bit tired I think I'm ok I may try the nap thing once James is settled in
I think you have hit upon the real instigator of illnesses and that would be having children. Not only does not having children leave people with more time, energy and income to enjoy life in many ways, it also prevents the contracting of illnesses. Best birth control message available. I'll bet there would be a Pulitzer Prize in that theory.

Probably all true, but I wouldn’t trade any of mine. None of mine were actually sick this past winter come to think of it. Must be all the other kids causing illnesses. ;)

We do the same, plant a big garden every year
We plant a garden too, but the last 2 years we had awful crops. The tomatoes were meager. Peppers didn’t grow. Zucchini grew ok. Cucumbers didn’t grow, and last year for the first time our strawberry plants did nothing. We ripped them all out in the fall. We had pumpkins growing and they were beautiful, but all the rain destroyed them. We had way too much rain last year and so far this year does not look any better in terms of moisture.

I wish I could guide you trough the fairy tale Forrest one day. As an Efteling connoisseur (it's a thing) I can tell you there is only one correct entrance and route to take through the Forrest. I am glad you had a great day with your family and your dinner looked very delicious. I also like restaurants like were you can try different small bites.
Yes!! Please come be my guide!! I have zero sense of direction. If there's more than one entrance to a store, I get completely lost because inevitably I will take the wrong exit and not be where I went in, so nothing looks familiar. And the sprookjesbos is a lot bigger than a store, so its multiple entrances and then all the little side paths for shortcuts throw me off and I get confused. Everything looks the same and I don't remember which path we came on. I now know that the Indian Waterlilies (one of my favorites) is off a side path that is directly across one of those little shortcut things that leads to the Hansel and Gretel. But that doesn't help a whole lot if I can't find my way to Hansel and Gretel. I so need a tourguide!!!

Americans in general cannot name which season particular fruits and vegetables are harvested in, either. I don't say that in a judgemental way. That was a huge learning curve for me last year when I started trying to eat from the source.

I think I'm going to try container gardening this year with A. That way if something is failing I can move it far away from the other plants. Last time we had a garden it went south quickly when the squash got moldy. Then everything died.
