It sounded like a fantastic day to me. Thanks for taking us along! Zucchini, brie, and honey? Who knew? Weird combination, but good for you trying something new.La cubanita cont...

Another new item on the menu, beef tips in chimichurri sauce. I liked these better than my original 2nd favorite of the spicy beef tips. They are the same beef, but the chimichurri is not spicy. And more spare ribs.

I did NOT get a picture of my pork tenderloin in a port sauce, and I didn't take pictures of any of DH's stuff....he gets a lot of salmon and things covered in honey mustard, and I can't stand the smell of either, so I stay far away. But he also ordered the ribs, the spicy beef tips, etc, as did DD...so I didn't take pictures of things we got multiple orders of.
One thing I love about La Cubanita is that it kind of challenges me in the food department. I am a picky eater...always have been, and I have a certain anxiety about trying new things. My mom was very strict about food and I had to try everything multiple times...things I didn't like, I had to eat again the next time. And I had to eat everything she gave me. And I got in trouble when I gagged at something that I really hated and nearly threw up. So it's very hard for me to try new things because I'm afraid of really disliking it. I know I'm an adult and I don't have to eat the rest, but it still embarrasses me, and I don't want to offend a chef by telling them I don't like their carefully prepared dish. I like this chain because they give you small portions...you don't feel like you are wasting a bunch of food if you don't eat the whole thing. And you know you won't go hungry if you don't like the dish you ordered....you just order a new round of something else. There's no real bad consequence if you don't like something, so I'm more open to taking risks. I don't have to order an entire entree of something...I get a small portion, and if I like it great, if I don't, no harm no foul.
This is how I discovered the flambini....it was like a flatbread pizza, kind of. It was a mini flour tortilla that had a seasoned meat on it....I think pork? And some sort of garlic aoli sauce I think...it was soooo good. I normally don't like sauces, but you can't special order things because they just make up a bunch of the things and bring them to the people who ordered them...they can't make one without the sauce, etc. So I was very nervous the first time I ordered the flambini, and it ended up being my favorite. And now it was gone from the menu.
So the Pincito and the beef tips with chimichurri sauce, and the pork in port sauce had all been new menu items that had paid off. There was one more item, a veggie option, that I was a bit nervous about. I don't like cheese unless it is melted. But, this item was NOT on the cold items page, it was in with the warm vegetarian options, so I thought the chance was good that the brie was melted. It was bruschetta with brie, zucchini, and Honey. It sounded very weird, but the only thing I don't like that this had on it was cheese....so I took a risk. It was right at the end of the meal...the last dish I got, and I was getting quite full, but wanted a crema catalana for dessert. I wish I had gotten a picture, but it came when I was eating the beef with chimichurri sauce, and I wanted to try it before that was gone in case I didn't like it. I could wash the taste out with the beef. So I didn't think to snap a picture. I wish I had ordered it earlier in the meal....it was the star of the night. SO good. It has no right to be that good with that combination of ingredients....cheese, zucchini and honey?? Together? But it was the best thing I ate all night, and it was too late to order more.
And then dessert:

It was after 10 when we left the restaurant. DD saw her geography teacher in the restaurant, but didn't want to disrupt her date, so she doesn't even know if the teacher saw her. She snapped a quick pic before we left so she can show her teacher "I know where you were on Saturday!" And then we walked back to the car. Both kids totally crashed when we got home...DD crashed already in the car, to be honest. It was a very long day, but a very good one.
The end.
Hope you feel a little better today. No mass for me this weekend, as I’m on the downhill side of a short case of crud (DWifey and DS had it earlier in the week - so far youngest DD hasn’t come down with it, and fingers crossed she doesn’t ), that I noticed comin’ on early Friday afternoon, and don’t wanna’ chance goin’ out in public today.
Should be fine tomorrow, though...!
Thanks. I know where you are talking about.Near where the Towers are, there's a place called The Grill (I believe). It's great because they have flatbreads, Mexican, Paninis, Italian, and chicken strips and fries, so everyone can find something there to eat. I take my brother there because he usually wants chicken strips, and I, well, don't, so he gets chicken strips and I get something else and everyone's happy.
So nice to live local... do you have an AP?Feeling a lot better, went to Epcot with some friends and had a great time, really made me feel happy again
Duh, I should have looked. I actually still have your tr in one of my windows on my iphone. I haven’t finished it and didn’t want to lose my place.https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/i-took-one-for-the-team.917693/page-29 Lunch with pics, I had the fries the day before as a snack
Ahhh, diaper blow outs. Remember those all too well. Usually happened when they were teething and starting to outgrow a diaper size. Those were some messy changes. If it happened at home, a quick dip in the bath would be needed to bring back that fresh baby smell. On the road, coupdn’t wait to find a garbage can and throw that smelly diaper away. Yep, don’t miss diaper changes. Thanks, Minnie...!!!
And, about Emy’s church outfit...
They didn’t take any pictures of her at home, so we’re gonna’ take some after mass.
But, right before mass she had a major diaper blowout, so she had to don her diaper bag backup onesie...!!!!!
She’s done it before, but, they were still at home, so were able to put her in another cute outfit before they left the house...!!!
Good to know.@Songbird76 and @MySmallWorldof4 seeing I just looked up something from my TR it takes about 45 minutes to walk through the que of Forbidden Journey to see almost everything so don't let a longish wait time scare you because if it's any shorter you'll miss way to much!
Heat off, windows open! It won't last long, and I have to enjoy it while I can.Rain>Snow but I'm tired of both!
I had the cauliflower and cheesecake last year. I remember them being delicious. Back on my list for this year. Of course I only had a taste of the cake. Youngest absconded it all.Patkhopped to Epcot. Had some food that was amazing!
All of these were from the Honey Bistro booth. Roasted cauliflower, honey tandoori chicken flatbread, honey mascarpone cheesecake, and the honey ale.
I don’t care for beer much but DH likes it. View attachment 362632
That was a lot of parkhopping yesterday. Sounds like a completely full day of fun.Heading to AK for the RoL show at 8:30. We just saw birds drinking out of the water fountain. I knew there was a reason not to drink from those fountains!
You are correct. I had only gotten their vegetarian sandwiches in the past. I just remembered the avocado spread as something I liked and glad I could make something similar. It adds a lot to a plain veggie sandwich.Because there’s one just down the road from the office, I ordered Jimmy John’s for lunch a few times when I first got back to the firm full-time.
One of the first things I noticed was that their sandwiches were packed with shredded lettuce. After about the third time, I decided to order my next sandwich without any lettuce, for comparison...right when I pulled it out of the bag, and even before unwrapping it, it was flat as a pancake compared to the lettuce-packed sandwiches. Nothing wrong with lettuce (I had a coworker years ago that always ordered extra lettuce on sandwiches, burgers, etc.), but, they just seemed to be packin’ it in as filler so they could skimp on other more costly ingredients.
It could be a Franchisee thing, as I’ve never eaten at another JJ’s, but, I never ordered from there again.
I’ve sold stuff to thread up before. I make more on ebay though. I have a load of boy clothes right now that I need to list. That is the only problem with ebay, the time it takes to get the clothes pressed and then a listing made. The plan is for Disney spending money. I made over $1500 last year on stuff. This year it will be way less. I got rid of American Girl dolls last year as well. They hold their value for sure. This is adorable!! She has three new Disney dresses in her Easter basket thanks to thredup!!
My windows were open last night until one something and open today about 10Heat off, windows open! It won't last long, and I have to enjoy it while I can.
All of it is awesome. I could just these dishes all week!I had the cauliflower and cheesecake last year. I remember them being delicious. Back on my list for this year. Of course I only had a taste of the cake. Youngest absconded it all.
