Yikes! Life may get interesting as my dh may go back on the night shift which is better than the afternoon shift he thought he was going to get

He could be in my DD shoes. For the University she works all three shifts over the course of 5 days. :cautious: One day is 730am till 2pm; 8am till 130pm split shift 730pm-11pm; 1pm till midnight, 1pm till 11pm;
7pm till midnight.

Her life is always interesting. She has 2 jobs and Grad School. She is payed above the approved rate because of afternoon evenings, its been paying for Grad School.

I don't quite know what I think about this ice cream. The concept (except for rolling it) reminds me of Cold Stone Creamery and their mix-ins routine, with the staff mixing in sweets on a cold stone. Cold Stone has been around for years, but it was a one and done for me a long time ago. Although I'm far from a germophobe, I couldn't help but wonder just how clean the surface was that they were constantly working on.

Cold Stone is my DD favorite. Sweet Cream with Sprinkles. Has been eating it is seems forever, never got sick. Knocks Wood. I am as germaphobic as they come but this place does not concern me. The stone has always viewed as clean when we have ordered. But I look at all prep areas, they are used all day long. They don't clean the pizza roller for dough after each pie dough goes through. They don't was the stick that puts them in raw and out cooked. I've watched at Goofy's as they decorate ice cream after ice cream until they have dozens prepared on the marble.

I believe I'm more concerned about cross contamination. My DD has a few fruit allergies.
In a mall in Northern IL they introduced rolled ice cream. It is entertaining to watch and when complete looks awesome however Cold Stone always wins.

He knew it was coming. First he was like, "I hope you didn't pay for TurboTax" and then when my mom and I asked him if he understood the meaning of the word free (literally we both said it at once), then he was fine.

He's still trying to say that doing taxes by hand and sending them in via mail is the correct way to do things....he also tells me I should mail in my credit card payments every month instead of paying online, and we know that isn't happening. I think I'm going to start a list: stuff Dad thinks I should do but isn't happening...

Wow! He is around my age and thinks like my Mom. I've used the same tax attorney for years and decades and even he moved to electronic filing long ago. I don't have any bill I pay by check. I'm wracking my brain trying to think of the last check I wrote to anyone.

He gets everything by mail. And it's caused problems because of vacations when a statement hasn't come and then it's due. There's been several trips in recent memory where I've been home and he's had me mail in a credit card payment because the statement didn't come. And every time, I say to him, "Ya know Dad, if you did this online, it wouldn't be an issue." And he still won't do it, in spite of the anxiety he gets over it. He's generally distrustful of technology. He thinks if he doesn't use online banking and such that hackers will never be able to steal his identity. I've pointed out that he shops online and all of his credit card numbers are out there, not to mention that the bank definitely has his information stored electronically. My bank's website is so tightly secured that it's rather annoying. He still doesn't believe me. Ironically, though, he does basically all of his shopping online. And enjoys the benefits of my Amazon Prime account.

Of course, I cleaned his computer last week and given the state of it, he probably shouldn't be doing anything with a computer.🤦 I mean, he had files just sitting out in his filing system, not in a folder. Some from as far back as 2010. And then he was leaving his computer unlocked all the time. I finally got him to stop doing that. I said, "Dad, you have confidential information on here. You're signed into a bunch of accounts. Do you really want that information stolen because you refuse to type in a four digit passcode?" He now enters his passcode, and I can't believe I was successful.

And how many places a paper check passes through with your name, address, full account and routing number. I've had these conversations with my Mom. Getting her an iPhone plan was rough.

I thought I would share what I’ve been working on during my snow days. It’s a criss-stitch project. I got the kit for Christmas a couple Christmases ago and I’m finally working on it. I need good light for it so I usually only work on it when I have good light. I’m probably about half done I have about four more hoop moves around the sides of the main picture. So it is a little slow but I’m pleased with how it is turning out.

May I ask, how is Brian's dad doing today? Any update?

He seemed to have settled down last night (or we wouldn’t have gone to dinner. One of B’s best friends was in town from Atlanta and leaving today.) He has COPD and an oxygen tank. But he gets scared and B calms him down. For some reason his wife can’t. So then she gets scared, too, and wants him to come over.

As much as we want to be helpful, it feels a little manipulative sometimes (especially on her part) and they have no regard for our work schedules. (B just went in - he’s doing 17 long days in a row for the Miami Open tennis tournament - very bad for his “diabetic feet,” and he will be exhausted.

I’m going to check in with him before I go to work, but I don’t know as much. (B was an EMT.)

I had to write a check out with my Passport Renewal... geesh you would think they would have a better system by now!

Do people ever confuse his coffee room with a coffee shop? Next time I'm in Amsterdam, we'll have to check it out. I love cake!!
Luckily it is very clear when you walk past that it is a regular cafe and not a coffee shop.
That being said, many years ago my Opa told me he was happy a new cafe had opened near him and he had already been twice for a coffee and a chat. I walked past the new cafe on my way home and saw that my opa's cafe was actually a coffee shop. I had to tell him to stop going there as some unsavoury people frequent those places.

back home!!!!

The interview went well I think, they will call me tomorrow (monday) or in the next week for the last interview (with a systems engineer). They told me I practically have one foot on board.
Once I do the last online interview they will confirm if I'm in or not and then proceed to the medical checkup and then do the basic training of maritime laws and rules, etc.. plus get the appropriate Visas depending on which post I am assigned to.
That's great news, let's hope you find out soon.

That's why once I find a brand that fits me in the style I want, I buy the same thing for years!! (If a style is ever discontinued, I have a meltdown ... :( ) The other thing is that I hate trying on clothes in the store. Sometimes, if it's an item I really need, I'll buy 2 sizes, and then bring back one as a return at a later date.

Can you tell I'm not a fan of clothes shopping? :p
Neither am I :(
