So many of our days last summer were in the 70's. I prefer mid to upper 80's and am very tolerant of 90. If it is summer I want to be hot.

75 is my ideal temperature, I can tolerate 80's... but last year was an exception for me... I was dying of heat all the time. Turns out my blood pressure medicine made me "sensitive to the sun" I finally figure it out in August last year.... I changed meds, so hopefully this year I won't be so miserable!

It's evidently very much like the old DCA one. I'm seeing that one this fall so I can't help you out there. But the Lion King is nothing like any of the Disney parks shows.

I've seen Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, and Mary Poppins. Beauty and the Beast isn't on Broadway anymore, and Mary Poppins was fine, but the Lion King is amazing. Frozen I really want to see, but I've watched videos of it online and know the soundtrack...you can't go wrong with that one.
Are you seeing Aladdin in DC? My oldest wants to see it.

I don't think any of that is possible, unless you have a time turner. (Harry Potter reference.)

I’ve spoken to both coaches, we’re splitting volleyball and baseball.

On Wednesday we will go straight from baseball to soccer (maybe leave 5 minutes early).

Next Monday we have to skip baseball for his 1st outdoor soccer practice, and then we’ll be late to soccer on Wednesday.

I’m so worried about the volleyball schedule. So worried. It may have ended up being a waste. We will not be able to do one practice or game if they are on Monday or Wednesdays after this week, we’re already rotating the other two sports. I just can’t beleive that we have such conflicts this year!!!

The baseball game schedule is not out yet.. the coach asked me point blank not to miss any games. I replied that I can’t guarantee it.
T’s first soccer tourney is the last weekend of this month... I’m praying so hard that we don’t have his first baseball game that same weekend!!!!!

What crowd calendars are you guys using? Touring plans still shows completely manageable crowds for the September trip and wondering if they haven't updated it after the Star Wars news

Just waiting for touring plans to update... it's got to be hard for them.. because there is no scale in which to compare this to. And with SW only partially opening, I have to wonder how many will wait for the entire land to open before coming.

Happy Weekend everyone! I hope you all are having a good weekend, and I hope @Cesar R M is feeling better. We have another snow storm coming, 7-10 (maybe even 12) inches of snow. So @Mr Ferret 88 if you really want snow, we have plenty! So anyway, with the incoming snow hubs and I changed our plans for Friday & Saturday to Thursday & Friday.

On Thursday we went out to dinner at a new to us restaurant, just a family dinner we had been hearing about and it was fantastic. Every time I mentioned going there to hubs he poo-poo'd it and I finally made him go on Thursday. Now he loves it and wants to go again. 🤓 After dinner we went to see Captain Marvel, in the end I really liked it. It took me a little while to get into it but once the movie go rolling it was great. A great movie to be released around International Women's Day.

Then last night, I worked late at school but after hubs had bacon cheeseburgers from our local bar. Then we ventured into a nearby town for a local theater production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. The local group did a great job and it was really funny.

Now today hubs is at church event, and I'm at home with the dog. She is ignoring me, I think she is mad that I left her that last two nights. But tonight we are having homemade chicken Alfredo with sourdough bread and roasted tomatoes. Yum!
Sounds like you both made the best of a bad weather situation. How much snow did you end up with.

Oh and I might start packing for Disneyland today, it is about 2 weeks away but I am so ready for fun in a warmer place!
That sounds like a wonderful idea!

My DD will be at DL with marching band next spring break. If you think of it, and it isn't too much of a hassle, could you send some tips/ pictures of things 16 year old girls might like?

My DD:

I hate Daylight Savings Time.

Me:

How come?

(We like it cause we can go walking after dinner)

DD:

Cause I’ll never remember what time it is in Arizona.

(Life through the eyes of a woman that works for a University in College Admissions)
I have actually started repeating to myself, now dad is 2 hours behind. Hopefully, I will remember, and not call in the middle of his dinner.

The rougher neighborhood comment made me giggle... do you get off the plane and walk around cicero?? Midway airport blows my mind... when I worked for Midway 1 (here in GR) when I would go to MDW, the poor airport was so old! When I worked there (for Midway Airlines 2) it looked only a little different with Southwest taking over some of the Midway gates.... Now I don't even recognize it... they sure have spiffed it up!
They have. But, I hate what they have done with the food! We used to have it all figured out before we got there. Last trip, DD couldn't even get her preflight McDonalds. She was bummed, as it is the only time we get anything from there. Lalo's, gone. We ended up with sorta okay from some no name Italian vendor. The place that replaced Lalo's looks sketchy, and same with the sushi place. A lot of others agreed. The only place with a line was Dunkin' Donuts.

I give you credit for even trying to squeeze it all in. Me, I would have him skip 2 of the activities that really have the most schedule conflicts.

I’m not sure if I said this last week, but the baseball coach at T’s school had invited him to practice with them last Sunday.

They had races at the end- where they had to run and grab a ball (set amount) or get knocked out, down to when 1 ball and two kids were remaining. T won 2, the one he lost was hilarious, T and the other boy arrived to the ball at the same time, the other boy snatched it out of T’s hand. 😂

Unsurprisingly, all 3 times was the same boy who is always neck and neck with T in school races (and usually beats him).. I posted a photo of their side by side feet at the last school race this past Fall.
He was so excited to beat him at baseball... he said “O is one of my best friends and worst enemy at the same time!” 😂 All in good fun.

Anyway, the coach just called me right now, he knows that T is missing a lot of baseball practices with the other school, invited T to practice with them again tomorrow night (after soccer).

🤞🤞🤞 that this continues and no one complains. T loved the last practice and being with his friends! He doesn’t know anyone on the team he’s playing for, but the kids do seem nice.. T is just so darn shy until he gets to know you. He’ll be really excited when I tell him he was invited again tomorrow.

Let me just say that it is a terrible idea, especially when you live in a colder state. The kids don't get to enjoy the warmer weather long enough. They should start right after Labor Day. Our kids in public school get out the end of May or first week of June. The problem is is that the weather is still cool. The pools around here that offer swim lessons are not even heated. Sorry but my kids are not going to jump in a pool in the morning when the temperature is still in the 60's and the pool water is in the 50's. I am wondering if the push to start earlier is a way to start year round schooling. That may be something @ajrwdwgirl may have a clue about.
I actually like that we start earlier, especially high school. DS never had a true winter vacation in all of his high school years. He would have tons of work over break, head back to class, and then the following week would be finals. In the spring AP tests are given in early May. After the AP test, they basically would hang out for the rest of the school year.

DD has exams before winter break, since they changed the calendar. And school ends closer to the AP testing date. More class time before to prep, less wasted time after.

I’ve been so stressed over this for the past couple of weeks. I don’t allow T to play lacrosse while playing baseball, but I just refuse to allow my kid to be a one sport athlete. Every coach and orthopedic says it is the worst thing to do to a kid (excluding dance, gymnastics, etc)
I’m worried that it will jeopardize playing time, more worried that it will jeopardize his spot on his soccer team (the kid works so hard on soccer, especially this “off season” if you can even call it that) but I have to do what’s best for him. He loves sports and will have to choose when he gets older, but right now is too young. Soccer/Football.. Baseball/Lacrosse... these are sports that I won’t allow to do both, but soccer being year round is a requirement, I won’t let him miss out on everything else as a result.

Volleyball is the least of my concerns, but he’s really excited about it, and the volleyball season is small commitment as well as extremely understanding with conflicts.. they realize it’s not the priority.
