Possibly having lunch with the best friend ar work tomorrow. Im excited about this because a few months back we had a falling out due to some BS rumors our coworkers were spreading around that were incredibly false and it led to her being distant. Long story short, shes been approaching me for convos so I figured id ask. Hoping it goes well.

Punta Cana BOOKED!!!

I ended up choosing the family off beach enclave.. reading reviews of how attentive and amazing the staff in the family concierge suites, I hate giving up a view of the beach..but we get the exclusive family concierge only beach.. with included reserved palapas! No worries about finding a chair, including at the pool!!...I won’t have to deal with any reservations at all, and will have a special phone to contact our concierge or butler at any time. I’m looking forward to the help and suggestions for activities that T will enjoy. I’m also looking forward to dinners in our room, and we’re going to have a special private dinner for two on the beach one night. (Don’t laugh, it’s a mom and son special night, I’m not giving that up just because I don’t have a partner. ;) )

We’ve stayed at plenty of 5 star hotels, but I rarely book concierge with T. The last time we had anything similar was almost 5 years ago.

This Mom is going to relax for 9 glorious nights!!

Our Suburban can get to Disney on less than 2 fill ups. It does great on highway mileage. It actually does better than our minivan. My first new car was a Jetta. Then I made dh get his own Jetta after we married. Our first family car was a Jetta station wagon. When the infant car seat we bought would not fit well in the back seat, we went with a Trailblazer for our bext car. We have had minivans and SUV’s since. When we become emptynesters, we will size down.

We’ve only ever had the one SUV and the one minivan when the kiddos were younger...’90 Jeep Cherokee Laredo and ‘01 Dodge Grand Caravan. Youngest DD fancies trucks and SUVs. She traded in her first ride, an ‘01 GMC Sierra, for her current ‘10 Chevy Traverse...!!! :)

I need to ask one more opinion though,

I booked a one bedroom suite, but chose two double beds in the bedroom instead of a king bed. I’m not thrilled with that but I feel horrible having T sleep on a sofa bed in the living room.

Would you keep it this way, or would you have your kid sleep on a pullout so you’re not in a little bed?

I don't want to get to personal, but, if you are in the "little" bed by yourself, while you are asleep you will not even be able to tell the difference between King and Double.

Would he see sleeping on the pull out an adventure? Perhaps a time to have his own space? I don't have kids but I would say that T is lucky to go on such a fabulous vacation that you are paying for, so get what makes you happy. But ask him and see what he says.

I sleep diagonal 😂

But really, I don’t think I should make my kid sleep on a sofa when there’s an option for a real bed. I can’t imagine there’s too many double bed suites.. hopefully they aren’t in a bad location.

Although, I didn't come right out and say it, my point was let him sleep in a real bed. I have never found a sofa bed yet that didn't have a steel rod running right across one's back.

This is actually a great idea. We’re always in the same room at a hotel, even when in a mini suite or regular suite. He’ll be 9 at the time of travel.. he might like having his own space to sleep. I’ll ask him in the morning, and hopefully switch to a king bed. Lol

I agree. It would solve our problems if I did a 2 bedroom, but I’m not paying for that..and I don’t think we need it. I’ll read more reviews tonight and see if I can find feedback on the pullout beds. If they’re not bad then I’ll get his opinion in the morning.

I've slept on many sofa beds. Mostly Disney ones. The Disney ones are actually pretty comfortable.

That being said, they're a gigantic pain. You either have to make them up every day in order to get your couch back, and then pull then out and make them up...or you have to leave them out, which defeats the purpose of a living room when you have a giant bed in it.

On a separate note, I don't understand some of these luxury resorts with the double beds. A Hilton Garden Inn in San Diego...queen beds. A Hilton on Waikiki beach, fanciest hotel I've ever been to...double beds. No sense.

We used to have a yearly "motor" tax.
That was dropped in favour of increased tax on fuel. Which goes into the general tax pot. Problem is that as cars become more economical and more people use electric/hybrid the price of fuel goes up every year to cover the shortfall 🤦.

Current cheapest is £1.16 per Ltr

We are currently paying the equivalent of about $0.53 per ltr.

Always the nicest hotels! Drives me nuts.

Does anyone have any experience with Ring Doorbells? If so, what is your opinion of it?

We're thinking about getting one, and I've been charged with doing the research.

I don’t have it, but both of my neighbors do.. I hate going to their doors lol
