Just got a call from my school district, we are closed tomorrow. We are still under blizzard conditions until around midnight and no plows are going out on the roads in our county until 4 am tomorrow. :(:grumpy: I only live a couple blocks from school, so I think I'll still go in and do some of the make up hours I have to do. I have never been so honestly unhappy to have so many school closures in my life! We haven't had a fully week of school since the first full week of January and we are in the 5th week of the quarter. I'm getting so behind on my lesson track. Sorry, rant over....

So frustrating the weather this year. We got the wind, and the rain, but they say we are only going to get about an inch of snow.

Amen! I don't drive often, but when I do, it's a little car. It's frustrating for me to have to deal with these rolling "barricades" whether on the road or in parking lots. Can't see around them. :banghead:

But whatever. I think for some families, the SUVs are the new "family car", similar to the family station wagons when I grew up. Hence, I guess they're just buying what is offered now on the showroom floor. That doesn't bother me so much. But what does, is when I often see 1 person driving around in these SUVs with no passengers or cargo, when they really don't need that big of a car (or should I say, a small truck--because that's what they are, right--small trucks)?

IIRC, all smaller and most mid-size SUVs are unibody construction, but some mid-size and all the larger ones are body on frame, just like trucks.

That's because the people that design them were the best, highest paid people that were once the lead Imagineers at Disney. True until the "stock holders" quest for maximum profits made management downsize the payroll. They were pushed out and Universal picked them up. And now it is really starting to show.

One thing that I do believe is that Uni doesn't do it quicker it is just that we don't hear about it until it is much further in planning and design. Disney fans tend to start counting as soon as it becomes a rumor till it opens. Actual construction time is, from my limited observation, about the same.

Yeah, I remember a great deal of the imagineers being let go after AK opened but fortunately for them they landed and were welcomed at Uni.

Actually Uni bulldozes and pretty promptly starts building on the same parcel. Uni can't hide their builds as well as Disney can because they are generally razing an attraction to build another. It is only lately that Disney has gone with the Uni approach to raze over expand as we are seeing at the Studios now and for Pandora at AK. I understood the Studios more than AK as the Studios has some real land issues, that park being in a dead heat competition with Uni-Orlando, Disney made some poor land choices and other major mistakes trying 'open first.' At AK I have seen the Lion King now in 3 different theaters, the Open Theater, The enclosed theater and now the latest building. That's just kinda nuts given the amount of years AK has been open. I'll be interested to see what happens with Epcot with Disney Razing some areas and attraction or at least partially razing.

Still I like how they are expanding France over removing anything. I'm also interested to see the outcome of the WoL pavilion after all these years. It already has the Circle Street flow which previously allowed for hands on activities like what is being purposed. I had in the first 5 minutes of looking at the concept drawing and mixing the Odyssey new temporary purpose. My first impression of the interactive City I mistakenly thought that is what they were going to do with the Odyssey parcel of land and had an OMG! moment that they were turning the WS section into a mini Uni-City Walk. Shows one that you need to look and READ before panic sets in. Still all I see in the concept WOL drawings is City Walk. I acknowledge concept is just that but boy it screams City Walk to me just in a mall type venue. ;)

It is going to be an interesting 5 years at WDW. Beyond that they are still going to deal with the aging attractions or lack of them in Tomorrowland as an example, the Land as there is nothing up there anymore beyond a restaurant along with the Imagination pavilion that is also a structure that is aging as poorly as WoL and SSE.

its 1:00 am and it was.. an eventful day.

Just to make it short.. grandmah left us.

Kinda ironic considering all the things we did to meet her before she went and we couldnt see her.

We packed midnight of yesterday, we took a somewhat early bus, we arrived, had early lunch before we didnt had breakfast. mom was completely destroyed after being awake for 3 days taking care for my gran nonstop.
She went to sleep, while we were on the car, we got called that she passed out... mere blocks away from arriving.

Anyway, she was sent to the funeral home, we did the classic prayer and sigil, some of her daughrners will stay in the sigil for the full night then tomorrow will be the mass in a church.

Now im exhausted and going to bed.. will probably return home tomorrow late night or on tuesday.

Hey everyone. So, the older I get, the more tests my doctor is making me get. So far, I’ve had the dreaded colonoscopy, the stress test for heart, echocardiogram, and on Friday, I have to have an upper endoscopy, where they apparently knock you out and then stick a tube with a camera on it down your throat to look around. I think this is unnecessary. If he would just ask, I’d tell the doc what’s down there: 300 cases of wine. 😜

But seriously, has anyone had this procedure done and know what to expect?

I almost want to cancel because I found out that my health insurance won’t cover this because it is diagnostic and not preventative, and I have a $2,000 deductible to meet. Grrrrr.

Buddy, I haven't had that test either, so can't offer any insight. Just wondering if the physician could adjust the reason for the test, so that you wouldn't get hit with a high deductible from your insurance company. Did your doctor state any specific reason why he wanted you to have this? (No need to share the actual reason with us--I was just leaning more toward the possibility of him having a specific reason for it, or if it was more like--he thought it was just a good test to have for a man in your age group.)

I don't understand how it all works, but they hit Zero twice. I know enough to know that's good!
Ha Ha! Yes! Hitting Zero means there were no deductions. So no falls from stunts or tumbling. Youngest's team hit zero both days as well. You get a pin for hitting zero. It doesn't mean you will win though. The team that was in second place in dd's division had one fall. Her team was just happy because they finally beat a team from Tom's River, NJ that had beaten them twice last season. :p
