I never got hand me downs because I was the oldest female in my generation. I felt sorry for everybody who came after me, maybe not a lot but a bit;) A couple of years ago I started getting hand me downs from James' friends:hilarious:
I am the oldest, and only for years. My cousin came 8 years later and was a boy... so the only hand me downs I ever got is when my mom bought me clothes from garage sale... which I was not happy about. (I was spoiled)

I was waiting for someone to make that remark! :D

The only time I ever walked to school was in No Cal when I walked to my 3 different elementary schools, the last one just 2 blocks away.
The 2 years of junior high in No Cal were on a bus because the newly built school was 6 miles down the road. But, it was quite architecturally trendy for the time with the exterior berms and stairways. And it was really cool inside too, with the rounded library on the upper level surrounded in glass supported by columns in the open space below...it made it look like an island suspended above. The piquing of my interest in architecture happened with that cool school...!!! :)
Here’s a more recent pic of the exterior of it...

The HS in No Cal was just a few blocks away so I could have walked again.
But, pop finally got the IBM transfer back to Texas and the HS was 8 miles away, so back to the bus...!!!!! :hilarious:
Once I got my drivers license, I mostly drove the ‘70 Chevy Camper Special with the Camper on it to HS...!!! :geek:
Once I bought my own ride, I drove that to and from HS, and everywhere else I could...good HS times...!!! ;) :)

The rain turned to freezing rain just after noon and by 2P we had snow falling. They were right about the wind gusts, it is really blowing out there! It’s down to 19 right now. I can see the driveway in some places and in others it is 8” deep. So glad I’m inside and, other than running to the barn to take care of the horses, I don’t have to venture out. ;)

I wish the world didn't have to be like this... I'm so glad I grew up in the 70's and 80's... kids are so sheltered now because the world can be so evil, that they don't get to learn independence by having outdoor freedom. (sorry... I'm a debbie downer!)

Our “millennial” (I hate that freakin’ term ) kiddos had plenty of outdoor time, just not entirely unsupervised like back in my day...different times. But, we always spent tons of time outdoors together...!!!!!
When I was a kiddo, we and our friends used to disappear on our bikes into our No Cal foothills for the entire day. We had enough lawn mowing money in our pockets for a coupla’ Taco Bell burritos and some candy for the adventure, but, that was it. Our folks knew we’d be home, like clockwork ;), for dinner...!!!!! :hungry: :hilarious:
As the older military couple (both Vietnam vets - her a nurse, he infantry) that used to live across the street from us used to say... “It’s not paronoia, just heightened awareness.” ;) :)

Hi everybody! We had snow overnight and it's been just freezing rain pellets hitting the windows for maybe the past 90 minutes or so. Looks like the snow total was maybe 4 inches so far, but I have a feeling it won't get much higher since the icing started. Looks nice out though, from what I can see (it's still dark here, but I can see under the street lights across the street).

P.S.: @BuddyThomas , hope your dinner was good last night, and that you made it home safely.

Even got pretty cold down here...28 overnight, but, no precip. and sunny as can be this mornin’...!!! :)
I ran (in my car ;)) to my folks house about an hour ago to check on some things (they are out of town in Louisiana visiting my lil’ sis with the broken leg), and yes, I went wearing only a t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops...so, I guess that made it a TSSFFHR...!!!!!!! :joyfull::hilarious:;):)
Hope all of y’all up there with the snow and/or ice are stayin’ safe and warm...!!! :)
