Whew. You must be relieved.
I am ok with it. I had a plan though to stay overnight down there if it got bad. The drive down would have been fine since the snow isn’t supposed tobarrive until 1. I was going to be leaving in the morning so wouldn’t have been affected then. It was the drive home that could have been the problem. It is ngood to know that where dd goes for cheer that they actually care about the kids, their staff, and their families. I am curious though about one thing. There is another cheer company from our town who is our “rival”. They are supposed to be at this competition as well. I wonder if they will be going. I will need toncheck their facebook page next week to find out if they went.

Well, if the rival still goes under the present circumstances, they're taking a chance -- and would have to live with that if heaven forbid -- something happened on the roads to a kid or family member.

The warm air pushed further north, so right now we’re getting a bunch of rain. The cold air is supposed to keep pushing south so now they’re saying that the snow will start here around 2P and we’ll get 3-8” depending on where the front settles. Then around 10P the winds are supposed to really pick up as the frigid air moves in.... :bored:

Happy Saturday everyone! The sun is shining here but the temp is 1 but has a real feel of -12. Brrrr! Hubs is going to make chili today, he wants to try to make it and even found a recipe! I'm impressed!

Last night we went to see Bohemian Rhapsody which was really good. Good acting and music. I can see why it was nominated for so many awards. When we came out of the theater I looked out the window at the theater and I saw the sidewalk was all white. It actually took me a minute to figure out it was snow! I couldn't figure out why the theater put that much salt on the ground. It was only a light dusting, but I felt kind of dumb for a minute. I should be able to recognize snow in mid-January in Wisconsin! Although to be fair the weather had nothing in the forecast for our area for snow so I guess I wasn't expecting it!

The Wired comment about the measurement pods was very future-istic and interesting.

We had plenty of hand-me-downs. In my case, I got a lot of my older sister's clothing, until I completely had a nutty and rebelled, when I was about 12. The clothes were in good shape, but the stuff my sister liked was NOT my style. (Seriously, when she was 12, she was dressing like she was 50. ) As a pre-teen and teenager, I was big into the latest styles. My mother finally gave in at that point, and let me buy my own clothes (with a limited budget from her, so I chose carefully).

My grandmother had a friend who worked for a wealthy family, and they always overbought clothing. So our family got some of theirs, too -- the great thing was that those kids always chose trendy, expensive clothing, and I really looked forward to their cast-offs (after they wore them once . . . :p )
I never got hand me downs because I was the oldest female in my generation. I felt sorry for everybody who came after me, maybe not a lot but a bit;) A couple of years ago I started getting hand me downs from James' friends:hilarious:

They'd be crazy to even try it. A state of emergency has been declared north of the Mason Dixon line!

3 - 6 late tonight changing to freezing rain/rain/snow and then flash freeze Sun night. I rather have all snow. If you go nearer to the ocean, it's less and all rain.

I'm finishing up the storm prep cooking. We're going to get 12-18 plus some ice:eek::brb::cautious::banghead: It's the last word that worries me! This week's beans and greens are a light curry flavored one, tangerine rice(my boys eat it by the gallon:banghead:), pineapple upside down cake, gnocchi with marinara, sautéed broccoli, green beans with mushrooms and steak with a red wine reduction. With that and what I got cooked yesterday I'm hoping not to have to cook until next weekend. silly me:facepalm:

Our snow is now supposed to start closer to 5 instead of 1, and our snow amounts have decreased as well. Monday will be a deep freeze, but Wednesday should warm up to 47 with rain and melt everything.

Saw that. I contacted the head coach this morning and asked if she thought the company running the competition would let us transfer the fee we paid for another competition this season. She already had asked and they said since the competition is in MD, and it won't be snowing there, they are holding the competition, so no refunds or transfers. So that kind of stinks.

Mmmm gnocchi! I need to try and make that. Not today though. I made some more of that Autumn soup that @Rista1313 posted the other day.
