You beat me to it.

These uniforms have to be a heck of a lot more comfortable for the CMs than the older costumes were. They are there pretty much every day, in all sorts of weather conditions. The least Disney can do is give them more comfortable uniforms.

In the 70s there were double knit suits galore, women's pant suits, mens leisure suits along with women's suits like the photo. They were easy care however hotter than all heck. They do not breathe.

They'd sweat like a pig.

speaking of interesting stuff..

they have closed both main bridges connecting the sister cities in my hometown.
the freak rains that happened 2 days ago (until today) caused a danm to be forced to unload water (since it reached over 100% capacity).
So this load of water, plus the heavy rain's loads.. have made the bigger river dangerous.
Last time the river had this load.. one of the bridges (the older one) structurally failed and killed 3 people as it fell sideways into the water.
the "newer" bridge was reinforced and a new reinforced bridge was built where the older one fell.

So... they are being cautious now and closing both ways until the river current decreases.badblock1.jpg
Red Arrow = normal causeway
all the water is a flood zone.
its worse on the outer area (this area is between bridges)

Pretty sure this image was taken near the "Puente Ameca" signage.
upper bridge = new reinforced bridge to replace one that fell down.
bottom was reinforced.

so, instead of letting you make hurricane proof, flood proof buildings, they all have to "adhere to a code" ? :|
kinda ilogical as much as Jennifer examples of silly laws.

That isn't what I am saying. Yes you must adhere to codes for zoning and building however they do have built in hurricane and flood engineering standards which over the decades become more and more strict. But no, you can't in many areas just pour a concrete home on stilts without complying with the aesthetics portions of zoning codes.

Today was a good day with my kid. The weather was good so we got to go out to the park. It's been a while since the weather has been so crappy. So she went crazy! We also walked around the neighborhood where she insisted on say hi and bye to everyone we passed. But she was an angel so when we got home I let her pick her own movie to watch. She looked at the selection, reached for Frozen for a moment, I cringed, then she pulled her hand away and pulled out Peter Pan, which made me yell hallelujah!

Soak it up all you can, and cherish every moment with all your heart. She'll be a "big girl" before you know it.
I tried not to blink, but, sometimes ya' just can't help it. ;) :)

Do you not wish our kids could experience some of the simpler things from our childhood?
Root beer floats as payment for hard work? Would never fly today.
Riding in the back of a pick up truck? Cops would pull you over and charge you in two seconds flat now.
Riding your bike (with no helmet!) from sun up to sun down? That there be child abandonment.

We did a lot of the simpler things with our kids - pulling them in the wagon to the park every night; hikes along the river trails; catching frogs and toads; fall trips to the farm to pick our pumpkins; hayrides; family bike rides; an uncomplicated weeks' holiday at a lakeside cottage every summer ....

That being said, their childhoods were no where near as awesome as ours were!

Woof. I'm gettin' a bit misty.
We did so many same/similar things with our 3 kiddos, too. They remember, and are so thankful for it.
But, yes, completely different from our disappearing without a single worry for the whole day act from back in the day. :)

It's not that he was holding his cards close ... he just hadn't found the right house.
This is an awesome house! This is the perfect house for them. For this house, he will dig deeper.

If I were at a slightly different stage in my life, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
(Except of course, that I would NEVER pay that kind of $$. You know, because I'm cheap!)

P.S. - The negotiations continue. They are currently only $1,900 apart - on a house priced at more than $400K!
The sellers are holding out for full price. Bro will pay it, if he has to.
Should be all wrapped up by this evening.

Ahhh, gotcha'! :)
Funny how when it's a 400K deal $1,900 can seem kinda' silly to quibble over. But, then again, $1,900 is $1,900...! ;) :)

Its getting worse! they are closing both bridges.. 2 small towns nearby are already flooded.
the worst part is, they havent opened the Dam yet.
so its going to get VERY BAD flood wise.
the river already went above the maximum levels...

Same for some states down here. But it all depends on the state, and in some cases, the county as well.

For some, including Florida and Maryland, the age is 16. For others, it's 18. For some, it's younger (in PA, I know it's 12) In Maryland, there's one county that requires them regardless of age. Once I turned 16, I pretty much said no more bike helmets. Except for ice skating.

I once rode in the back of my grandparents' Jeep when I was about 8 years old. No seatbelt. It was awesome. I've seen kids down here do the same thing in the back of a truck, though usually only on the backroads where cops cannot/do not sit.

Boy howdy, have things changed since I was a youngin'. Some good, some not.
