That's what we get when highly competitive adults are given a free hand to suck the fun out of play for young people. One of the reasons that I have always been against organized sports for kids. Find an empty field, review that basic rules and let them go crazy. They have their whole adult lives ahead to be competitive and grow ulcers out of necessity to keep up.It’s not supposed to be. There’s 4 levels of select at this age. Premier and Elite being the most intense.. the website states that June tryouts guarantee the level you make, for the Fall and Spring season.
Kids aren’t supposed to be moved down, not forced anyway...they can choose to if allowed, and discussed between player (family) and coaches .
They are not supposed to be moved down between seasons without a choice. That’s what’s happening now.
The rosters are so small at this age. 10 per team.. with so many kids trying out. Neither the Premier or the Elite team won any tournaments this season, and we both finished second place in our divisions.. So, the club apparently wanted changes to be made. That’s the only thing that makes sense.
*Hopefully this post was a little easier to follow. I should have explained it this way from the beginning.

My son has no idea that any of this has been happening. I told him he was attending tryouts so they could judge the new hopefuls against existing players (which is normally true at supplementals).
I think he’ll be sad about his team being changed, but I don’t know the extent of it yet, I’m holding off til I have the roster. These boys really grow so close over the season. They spend a lot of time together.
What really stinks is we’re all on a futsal team together thru December. I would hate to be one of the kids, or parents, who are being moved down..but yet play with their Fall team every week from now until practices start back up in January. That would be tough.
Seems like such heavy emotions to place on the shoulders of children. But I guess we all learn sooner or later where we rank at certain activities, and natural talent does almost always rise to the top.
I'm glad that T made the team, especially with his rocky start back in the Spring.
Thanks, me too. One of the team moms just called me.. her son and T have been playing together (starting with indoor for the club) since last November.
He is being moved down.
It doesn’t make sense because when I look at them, her kid is much more consistent than T.
T’s a weird one.. the kid will have an amazing game, or a semi-disappointing game.. there’s really nothing in the middle for him. He’s either going to be the star, or he’s going to make you shake your head and wonder what he’s thinking. You never know which T will show up at kickoff.
The other boy, he’s almost always good.. makes some mistakes, but definitely one of the stronger players. He should definitely be on that team. It doesn’t make any sense. I want to see the roster so badly. I wonder how much politics were involved in these decisions.
The phone call was almost embarrassing..I just can’t wrap my brain around a decision to cut that kid specifically.. he and T are 2 of the original 3 who have been together for 12 months now.. I’d put them all in the “top 5 on team” category. Totally nonsensical.
Sorry for rambling, I’m just mindblown right now. I had an idea of who would move.. but that kid was not on my mind at all. I feel terrible for him and his parents.
As an outsider, to me it seems like they're falsely putting the blame for the poor season on the kids. You cannot build a great team out of great players. You see that a lot in professional sports. They cherry pick the best players and still lose. You have to have excellent coaching and a team that works well together.
I think they're going to regret this. A lot.
I’m excited for winter (and Christmas)...but this is hilarious:

I love the floors! We're redoing my bathroom before long; super excited. So officially finished bathroom except for a few finishing touches I may add later. I went with the gray walls because both my Dd and DH reminded me that we had peach walls when she was little. I had to go back through some old photos. I like the gray. It looks polished and modern. So here is a couple of pictures. We kept the vanity top because I am not paying $1,000 for one to match. View attachment 326113View attachment 326114
Pass it's bad enough my crazy relatives have my phone number, yes only one of them@figmentfan423 You really should join the book that is face. Two of the main systems I use at work are down right now. So I've been entertaining myself by observing family drama I'm not involved in. Like...
