Thanks. He’s definitely an over thinker over analyzer. One night I went to check on him about 30 minutes after I tucked him in. (He usually kicks his covers off). He was laying awake, just staring. I asked what he was doing “Just thinking about gravity.” “Gravity, why?” “Mom, is it possible that gravity could suddenly disappear and we would all float away?” “No, T. Gravity is here to stay. Now please go to sleep. We can talk more about gravity in the morning.”
Who thinks of these things?!?!? Sometimes I just have to laugh, and other times I just sit perplexed wondering why he thinks the strangest things.

I’m going to try to keep Santa and Luke real thru this December, but I’ll be lucky if I make it that far. Either way, Christmas 2019 won’t have Santa magic for sure.. just please send good thoughts that we keep the magic thru ‘18!
Hopefully you get your Christmas wish this year. ;)

I was only about 6 when I found out about "Santa isn't real" from a kid on the street where I lived. She was about 4 years older and was bummed out when someone told her. So, she made sure that every little kid on the street knew--so they'd be as miserable as her. :cautious:

Nevertheless, I kept up the charade at home (a command performance for the next few years ;) ), because we all knew that if we could convince the parents that we still believed, we'd get more toys! :p
It was more than Christmas for me. I loved getting Easter candy including Cadbury creme Easter Eggs:hungry:. I looked it as if I could get get my favorite easter candies for without paying for it, I would take advantage of it:joyfull:.

My 2nd reason is my younger brother is 3 years younger than me and my parents waited till my younger brother reached a certain age about Santa not being real and the Easter bunny.

I looked at Santa as I could get stuff like new video games, and new video games as examples besides transformers, Matchbox cars, hot wheels, and sled as examples. For my younger brother and I growing up, Christmas was a big deal for video games.

Outside of Christmas I did not get a lot of new video games unless games were on clearance. Most of my video games I got outside of Christmas were cheap at flea markets.

Practices have been rough. The 2 tall girls from last season aged out and are on the Youth team. So the stunts are really shaky, and falls are happening. Luckily the floors are bouncy. First competition is in December. It is a 2 day in Baltimore. Should be interesting. I just want dd to have fun.

The team building experience has been cancelled because there were too many conflicts, like birthday and Halloween parties. One less thing for me to go to so I don’t care.

I’m sure she’ll still have fun! And I bet they’ll correct those falls soon. :)

It is super tough to keep them young now with so much information available to them. I cannot believe my youngest turns 8 in 30 days. :(

My priest actually said that this is one of the reasons that kids question more than when I was a kid myself, because they are exposed to so much more than we were. They have a harder time believing in a lot of things.

Happy early bday to youngest DD :)

Hopefully you get your Christmas wish this year. ;)

Thank you!

I literally cry when thinking about it. I just want at least one more ‘magic’ Christmas. I’ve complained about the Elf on the Shelf antics plenty of times.. performing surgery on the stupid Elf was annoying, but worth the resulting poses... I’ll take those annoyances if I get to see my kid wake up and excitedly search for the Elf. It’s going to be a weird Christmas season when it all stops.

We fondly remember those days...!!!!!
But, Santa Claus can still always be in their heart...!!! ;)
We were fortunate in that all 3 of our kiddos were so close in age, so the Magic seemed to last a little while longer.
Although, I also have a 12-year-younger lil’ sis that I helped keep the Magic going for...!!!!! :)

My kid has not received one Nintendo Switch game since last Christmas. 😂. Glad I’m not the only parent who does that!

My youngest sibling is 8 years younger than me.. so I felt the same.. the magic kept going because of her.

I have discussed faith and the ability to believe in things we cannot see with my kids. I have used air and molecules as examples. We cannot see them with the naked eye, but we know they exist. Sure faith is a little deeper than that, but it is an example in knowing something exists without seeing it. There is a great educational history docuseries called Drive Through History. I purchased it for my kids when they were studying ancient lands. It also has an American history video as well. The historian takes audience to places like Israel, Egypt, Italy, etc. and discusses history in a fun and exciting way. He shows the ancient ruins and discusses parts of the Bible that pertain to them. It might be something for T to watch. It always made light bulbs go off in my head. There are some episodes on YouTube.

If I thought that, my electric bill would be so much cheaper in the winter. We barely use AC in the summer, so when the heat gets turned on the bill is usually triple a summer bill. I just cannot find frozen fingers and toes pleasant. :coldfeet:

Just for the record--the electric bill for me is high in the summer for using A/C. My winter heating bills are very low in comparison. ;)
