We had to do both when I was a kid.. now I mostly see high schools touring their “avg ACT score”, so is the SAT not required these days?

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I just think the ACT is a better judge of overall basic knowledge. Some of the PSAT questions even had physics references in the math. If an 11th grader does physics, it was only just started in September.

@SteveBrickNJ The ACT is accepted everywhere. Originally it was kids mostly in the South and Midwest who took it. The SAT was the one pushed by the coastal NE and West Coast. Just read that.

Maybe have your dd take practice SAT and ACT tests and see which she does better in. You also need to see what schools are giving the test. Our local high school is only offering the SAT, so we would need to have dd take it at another school.

Maybe she should have asked the highest amount everyone was willing to spend first.

I bet that is true here....SAT given here. I'll e mail the guidance counselor and ask about ACT.
